NoVaEVluv Posted June 24, 2013 at 08:40 PM Report Share Posted June 24, 2013 at 08:40 PM We were looking to lease a Fusion Energi, with a driver assist package and adaptive cruise control. The dealership told us that the lease would be $682.32 a month with $2,000 down. That does include the $70.31/month personal property tax that Virginia charges, but still, over $600 a month sounds insane for a three year lease. Residual was 53%, they're basing it on $49707 base price, $3750 "rebate" (the tax rebate). 3 years, 12,000 miles. I showed them what I got from the X-plan ($325 a month for the same car) and they claimed that that doesn't include taxes, title, license, all that stuff. I feel like taxes title and license would NOT raise the price $300 a month. Are they trying to hoodwink me? SHould I try going directly through the X-plan site? That's way too high even with every option. The residual % sounds about right. How do taxes work in VA? Is there a sales tax on the lease payment and down payment, plus a property tax? Did you tell the dealer you have X-Plan? As an X-Plan the dealer can't easily hoodwink you since Ford Credit will review the paperwork and make sure there's no hoodwinking going on with the lease price/residual/fees etc.

apm Posted June 25, 2013 at 01:28 PM Report Share Posted June 25, 2013 at 01:28 PM (edited) Hi, I think it is a terrible deal... do not take it! I also believe that using X-Plan is one of the least painful ways to buy a Ford. You do not have to negotiate at all. The price you pay is right on the invoice and they have to show it to you. That said, some dealers will not take X-Plan on the Energi. Back in February when I decided to buy mine, I had to go to about 7 or 8 dealers before I found one that would accept the X-Plan on the Energi and even then they said that they would take it on a Special Order only (they changed their mind later and sold me one from stock). Things may be different now that they know a bit better the actual supply and demand for the car. People on this forum have reported buying Energi's at prices better than X-Plan, but I'm not sure how much negotiation it took to get there. One thing is for sure, the dealer you are working with wants to gouge you... don't ever set foot there again! Hope this helps! Russael Posted June 25, 2013 at 01:51 PM Report Share Posted June 25, 2013 at 01:51 PM Total ripoff. Just for kicks, I just went on Ford's website and built a Fusion Energi Titanium with EVERY conceivable option, including things like the dual rear seat DVD player, white platinum paint, cargo liner... just everything that had a check box, I put one in there, which I managed to get the MSRP up to 47,369, and with that, 2,000 dollars down, 3 year 12k mile lease, the payment shows 522/month before taxes, after incentives. 5% sales tax for VA and now we're looking at 49737.45. If you add that tax thing of 70 bucks a month with sales tax, I come up with about 618/mo. I have no idea how they came up with just under 700 a month. I'd LOVE to see that estimate sheet. NoVaEVluv Posted June 25, 2013 at 09:24 PM Author Report Share Posted June 25, 2013 at 09:24 PM Glad you all think it's as bad as I do! I have no idea how they ended up with a payment that high. VA does require personal property tax, which is rolled into the payment, as well as sales tax (which is only 3% on a vehicle). With ONLY the driver assist package selected, they obviously thought they saw a female sucker walk through their door! They quoted me a lease on a Ford Focus Electric too - $430 a month! Insane.
