Break-in procedure on a long trip?

Hi,

Got my Fusion Energi a couple of days ago and enjoying it so far. We will be taking a trip from WA to CA next week so I will be driving it for at least 1600 miles. What is the recommended break-in procedure. Years ago for an ICE  I was told to make sure I don't stay at one speed/rpm, not driving at high speed etc. Have things changed? Is it different in an Energi?

Thanks

This is all I see in the manual:

BREAKING-IN
You need to break in new tires for approximately 300 miles (480 kilometers). During this time, your vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving characteristics. The engine also needs to break in. Avoid hard accelerations and driving too fast for the first 1000 miles (1600 kilometers). If possible, avoid carrying heavy loads up steep grades during the break-in period.

Hi, Zman11. Yes, I know I read something about breaking in the car in the owner's manual and I'm sure larryh has covered it well.

Would you let us all know how your trip goes? What MPG did you get using in hybrid mode? Were you able to find any charging stations? If so, which brand/name? Were you already a member of that brand/name? Did you have to use a credit card or something that you got from the charging company?

I've been thinking about taking a trip of similar length later this Summer but am not optimistic about finding charging stations. But that's why I got a plug-in hybrid.

I hope you have a good and safe trip. We'll look for your "report" after you get back. Thanks!

Thanks Larryh and howardbc. So far, I have gotten a Chargepoint and Blink card (You register your credit card and will get charged as it gets used). I also installed the android apps. I don't think I will be able to do a lot of charging during my drive down there but i will try during the week as I am visiting relatives (Assuming they have an outlet nearby :))

What would be the easiest way to record MPG in hybrid mode. Wouldn't charging skew the numbers?
