murphy Posted June 20, 2013 at 01:36 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2013 at 01:36 AM Does anyone know the steps to disassemble the top of the center console around the shifter? It appears to snap together similar to how a TV remote control snaps together.I've had poor luck opening TV remote controls without breaking at least one of the tabs.If I could lift the plastic piece that supports the cup holders that would be ideal. Russael Posted June 20, 2013 at 12:34 PM Report Share Posted June 20, 2013 at 12:34 PM On page 175 of the owners manual (the PDF version) shows how to disassemble part of the console so you can shift the car out of park in case all power to it is dead. That's about the only thing I'm aware of.
murphy Posted June 21, 2013 at 12:01 AM Author Report Share Posted June 21, 2013 at 12:01 AM Unfortunately all it says is to remove the right side panel. It offers no indication of how to remove the panel. There are no screws visible so it probably has some type of snap or pressure fitting. zetecfocus Posted October 27, 2013 at 03:36 AM Report Share Posted October 27, 2013 at 03:36 AM Buy a set of plastic panel removal tools. Carefully try inserting the appropriate-looking blade into one of the long gaps in the console and simply, carefully, try to lift the panel up. It should snap off. Then, go to the next gap that looks as though it'll open up with some gentle prying. Common sense stuff. You can buy a panel removal kit at AutoZone, HarborFreight, etc, for about $8.00.
