For those FFE drivers that haven't been on the other Fusion/CMAX Hybrid/Energi Forums. I have made three YouTube Videos for driving a CMAX the way it was designed to be driven Called How to drive a CMAX Hybrid to get great gas mileage, Also CMAX Mods to improve MPG's and Hypermiling to improve MPG's. Efficiency and Aerodynamic Mods: The First thing to do is to raise your tire pressure of your Michelin's to 50psi which is safe to do and I got 64k miles for each set of tires on my CMAX. Hypermiling Video not recommended for those who can't focus on situational awareness of traffic around you all the time. Let me know what you think, any improvements. Hello, I have a 2017 Titanium Fusion Energi. Recently I filled up with a new tank of gas and wanted to reset the instantaneous MPG (shown in the Empower and Engage displays). I found where to reset and did so, but now the MPG continuously shows 999.9 MPG, even after all battery power has been used and Hybrid/gas has kicked in. What did I do wrong? Or should I do something else to get it to start "calculating" again? Thanks, David

so what’s the trick to get the 100 MPGe? I have been driving the fusion energy to work ( 35 miles) and not charging during the day. my average is 55 MPG. is it possible to get 100 with longer rides and less EV run time? plus even with modest upgrade the ICE runs and puts the MPG at under 20. you would have to be in EV mode over 90% of the time to get close to 100 MPG

What are your experiences so far with actual mpg on the Ford Fusion Energi? I bought a C-Max Energi, and I find the highway mpg particularly disappointing. It likely has to do with the small SUV profile, and I was considering trading up to a Fusion Energi if it was markedly better. X-way mpg (longer 100 miles) In town mpg EV range I realize that until the weather warms up, folks from the Southern states will get better results than those in the colder climates.

Hello, I am a new owner of a 2015 Fusion Energi. I have had it for 1 week. Average commute - 40 miles each way. I can plug in at work. I am getting about a 25 mile range on EV, and I am averaging 70 MPG combined. Wow! what a nice car. I am very impressed.

What Mods have you tried to get improvements in Efficiency and/or Performance? Feel free to post your mods and results here. Make sure to include links to any products you used. This caught my eye and got me thinking that the carbon brakes could be applied to the Fusion for weight, braking distance, and fuel savings. Anybody else try carbon rotors on their Energi? They saved almost 80 lbs in rotational weight over the stock Tesla. http://www.cnet.com/videos/link/M8bunBpeWnME5d7o2uSEBkbSBdyHWSkz/

I have been talking with Fuelly.com and finally got them to add and separate the Fusion Energi as a car/engine type. So if you are using in Fuelly to track your fill-ups, you can now set it to the correct car type. And if not, go and do :) NOTE: Fuelly is not tracking power use so this only tracks the gas used to the miles traveled. They may do something with MPGe in the future. Lots of thanks to Fuelly for listening and responding. http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/fusion%20energi/2013

New Fusion Energi SE / 707 miles ... So far I am disappointed with avg MPG and range. I am getting high 90's avg on regen and driver scores of 90. I have to admit most of the driving has been highway - long trips. My commute to work is 15 miles and I am pressuring my company to install L2 charging. My commute should be all EV mode. Any advice on how to get my range longer and higher MPG? Do I need to expect lower numbers during thr break in period?

Hi Everyone, I posted a new article on my blog on the lifetime MPG of our Fusion Energi. Please have a look and post comments on this forum thread: Ford Fusion Energi: 800 miles on 5 gallons of gas - 160 MPG!The forum admins have granted me permission to post links to my blog articles here for discussion. I'd prefer to promote this forum and have discussions here rather than on my blog.

So after reading through the topics yesterday and being further encouraged by our actual fuel efficiency in the Energi, I worked up a little comparison between the Energi and the Hybrid (which we were considering), and also the Dodge Durango Citadel (which we traded in). Since we don't have many miles on the Energi yet, I used the EPA MPG ratings and ranges (seems as though many owners are exceeding the EPA numbers anyway). I'm sure it's not precisely accurate, but it should be pretty close. Looks like we're saving quite a bit (obviously) from switching out of the Durango. And based on these numbers, it looks like we made the correct choice as far as going with the Energi, though it does have a smaller trunk. Curious to get some feedback on my comparison's validity and wondering if I may have left any considerations out. Also, once I get the L2 charger installed, I'll work that into the cost, but since it came with the L1, it's valid at the moment in that regard. Once we start getting some miles under our belt, I'll put the actuals into the spreadsheet to true it up. Sorry if the image below is hard, or too small to read... I couldn't directly paste my table in here, so I figured that an image would do the trick...

Kim: One thing that I believe is misleading in the Energi is the MPGe. For engineers, it's technically correct but for users it provides misleading, understated results. What's important to many of us, and what caused us to buy the Energi is saving money on gas. And many people think hybrids and electric cars can't pay for themselves in a reasonable period of time. Right now my MPGe says that I have 58.5 MPGe for the 5000 miles I've owned the car but really it's much better than that from a cost standpoint. We all pay different rates for the electricity. For us, we pay $.09 per kwh. If it takes 7 kwh to fill up the battery and get 21 miles it cost about $.75 for the 21 miles. If I get 42 mpg for a gallon of gas it cost me $1.6 for the 21 miles or more than double. I propose, therefore to have a mod to the software to allow users to use MPGc (miles per gallon based on a cost basis) where you enter the average cost of gas in your area and the average cost of electricity and the car gives you MPGc if you choose to use this criteria. This would give people a more accurate comparison of gas cost to electricity cost of driving. ChuckJ
