I just sold my 2018 Fusion Hybrid and bought a 2020 Fusion Energi. I live in an apartment and home charging is not an option. I am Intending to drive it like my Hybrid and bypass the EV charging option. I am a local driver so I donāt need to drive it on EV. Li-ion batteries donāt need to be topped off or even fully charge. Does anyone see a problem with my by-passing EV charging. Richard

I have a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi. Bought it brand new after trading in a 2015 C-Max Energi that I also bought brand new. My 2018 Fusion has just under 40,000 miles on it. Just to make note I've lived in the same house and nothing has really changed since I first bought the C-Max. When I first got my Ford Fusion I always got the 21 miles on a charge. Sometimes it would go down to 18 or up to 23 depending on where I was driving. I also drive my car the same, no wild acceleration or quick stops, etc. So driving habits should not factor in. I have a ChargePoint Home charger and have downloaded a few years worth of charging activity. I can notice that up until around May of 2020 I would get charges in the 6 and 7 KwH range. Ever since then I rarely get past 5 KwH. I have uploaded my xls file of all charging activity since 1/1/2020. So because I'm noticing that I never get over 5 KwH per charge my range is down in the 8-11 miles per charge. My guess is that my battery isn't taking a full charge and the past few days FordPass app has even been saying 93% or 94% charged even after being plugged in all night. As you can see FordPass says 94% and my ChargePoint says 4-5KwH. So recently I took it to the Ford dealer and explained all this to them. After having my car for 3 days the rep called and said the tech doesn't understand why it's doing that and said that he's still looking into it. Then the next day he called and said it's all done and your car is charging to 21 miles. I was very skeptical. So when I picked it up it was 100% charged but the Range only said 9 miles. But then on the left screen there is a average mi per charge on one of the screens and it said 21. So I'm like ok whatever, I'll drive it home and make sure the battery is completely empty and see what happens. So that night I charged it and what do ya know, it says 21 miles on the range. But I saw it only did like 5KhW so I'm like how is it that I'm going to get 21 miles. So I really kept track. I went on a drive and after around 7 miles I was down to 18% battery. And within a few more miles it was completely empty. So I really only got 10 miles on that charge even though all the stuff said 21. I am under the impression that the Ford dealer didn't really do anything except like a major hard reset to reset all the calculations on the car computers. Because over the week after getting the car back it started dropping and dropping and now I'm back to the 9-11 miles per charge again. I'm 100% certain that my battery isn't taking the full 7.6KwH charge. Sure we know that batteries degrade over time but the dealer and a few people on FaceBook group said not at 40,000 miles. One guy had a 2014 Energi with over 100,000 miles and he says he still gets 20 miles on a charge. So I don't believe that it's the battery degrading. It feels like some of the cells are bad and it won't get more than 4.5-5.5 KwH charges. Does anyone on here have any ideas? Or works for a dealer and is trained on this. I know the battery has an 8 year/80,000 mi warranty. I would really like to get my battery replaced (or at least load tested and verified). Thank you. Usage-history-20220131 (1).xls

Hi All, I love my new Fusion Energy Titanium and have enjoyed every one of the first 1,500 miles. The charging port door popped off in my hands twice. I thought it seemed delicate, but I had never had a plug-in car before and didn't know what to expect. Then it fell off while I was driving or, as the dealer service department suggests, was vandalized. (The port is not on the street side of the car when parked). Now I am discussing the repair with the dealer service team. They say that it is not a known problem and is not covered under the new car warranty. The Parts Dept quoted $71 for the door itself and $131 for the housing it sits in. This does not include labor painting or installation. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks for your help. Deb

Just today, I got about a 100 messages from my fusion today while at work, stating that the car is not charging. I do not charge my car at work. I disregarded the messages as I didn't have any time today during work to take a look. When I went out to my car, my key fob would not work. I had to slide the door lock cover off of the driver side door and use my physical key to enter the vehicle. Once in, I attempted to start the car. The car would not start as it thought it was plugged in. A message appeared on the dash asking if the car was plugged in, I've never seen that message before. I said no, but the car still did not start. I tuned the key off and then back on again, at which point the car did start. Anyone have any suggestions as to whats going on. I called my dealership, but they can't get me in until next week! I ran a vehicle health report and they said that everything was ok. Once I got home, I tried plugging the car in and unplugging it, but the problem persists. Any thoughts? Maybe someone from Ford can help? Has anyone had this issue? When plugging in my Ford Fusion Energi to a Level 1 or Level 2 charge I get a flashing ring port (I heard it called "the flashing ring of death") and it never charges. I am heading to the dealer this morning to see if I can get any help. [Video] http://youtu.be/UX-PZa2Wtzk On the inside display I see "Fault - Inside Car". I have had my Fusion for more then a year and I love my car. This is the first major issue I have had. I hate driving on gas so I need to get this fixed.

I just bought my 2016 Ford Fusion Energi 3 months ago. After charging all night, every morning it used to say I had 20 miles that I could drive on EV. Now it's dropped over night to saying I only have 15 miles that I can drive on the charge. I charge it overnight in my garage on a dedicated outlet that was wired specifically for my car to charge. Any ideas why I no longer get 20 miles per charge out of my car?

After a full charge is the high voltage battery suppose to put out 7.6 KWh? Mine looks to be only putting out 5.5 KWh. Please see the attached picture and share your finding from your energi app. The dealership looked at my 2017 Fusion Energi yesterday and said it was working fine. I'm looking for the total KWh you use from a full battery to a dead High Voltage Battery. Thanks Stephen

Hello, I'm a new Fusion Energi owner new to the EV market. I have been looking around at websites that show public charging stations such as Blink, Chargepoint, PlugShare, EVgo, etc. Many of them show the same stations on their maps, but each website seems to want you to sign up for their own branded payment account to use at the charging stations. I'm assuming the different companies must all be part of a partner network that allows you to use their brand of payment at any charging station? I signed up for Blink, is that a good choice? Is there advantages or dis-advantages to using a particular company? Thanks in Advance. Bob

The other night it did this strange charging routine for 11 hours that I don't understand.

I have noticed charring on both the 110V outlet and the charger plug when using the Ford 110V Charger. This is occurring both at home and at work where in both cases the charger is plugged directly into the 110V outlet (no ext cord). Has anyone else noticed this? Iām concerned that the heat could cause a fire. I have attached pictures of both the outlet and the charger plug. This outlet is at work and is not as burnt as the outlet in my garage. Anyone else have this?
-
I had only charged my 2015 Fusion Energi at home on 110 outlet until a recent road trip. During the road trip I used a public charging station. Now, instead of 29-31 miles for a full charge, the battery full charge is only 20 miles. This was not due to a change in weather or use. Could the public charing station have damaged my battery?

Anyway to charge up the Energi battery using the gas motor? If you turn on the gas motor for the first time in a trip, since it needs to stay on to warm up anyways, it will use the energy generated to charge up the battery for driving around in electric mode. This seems to put a few percent of charge into the battery very quickly. Is there anyway to keep the motor on to charge the battery up, a la the Volt? It would be very nice to have more pure electric mode in situations.

Hi, Sorry for newbie question, but we just bought a Fusion Energi. We have a 240v outlet in our garage. It has the Bryant L6-30 configuration (3 inputs spread in a circular configuration). I've attached an image of the input. I have not looked at the charging kit in the trunk yet, my wife has the car, but I'm wondering if this plug type is supported in the charging kit? If not, can anyone recommend the best place to get an adapter or a new cable that will fit this input? Thanks in advance! J

Quick warning. Purchased new 2015 Ford Fusion Energi mid-Oct. After 27 days driving I had a fault when charging error message. What you may not know is as soon as your EV battery bank is depleted & is not accepting a charge, you can not drive your vehicle. It will not move even though it has an ICE. Took it to dealer and it took 20 days for the car to be fixed. Multiple calls between dealer & Ford engineers. Replaced just about every part imaginable. Was happy when I finally got car back. 28 days later, same charge fault. Now they've had the car for 4 more weeks and still don't have a fix. In total I've owned the car for 103 days. 55 days the car worked 48 days the car has been sitting at the dealer trying to be repaired. I don't know what the resolution will be nor the timing, but if you have this issue be ready for a long frustrating road. Ford may have built a great car, but I'd question their ability to diagnose and service the charging system. If I try hard, I can almost remember what my car looked like...

I bought a 30 amp Siemens charger in September 2013. It has worked perfectly until today when I got a "fault" light. I didn't know where to start so I called Siemens 800-743-6367. A got a very responsive customer service person who told me to do a "hard" set by unplugging it for 1.5 hours. She started a service request and a tech called me within 1/2 hour. He said there is also a soft set by pressing the start button twice, but that since we were already into the hard reset, let that finish and he would call me and check the result. He called right on time, we plugged it back in and it works great. He gave me his personal number in case the problem comes back. GREAT SERVICE!. ChuckJ

My new GE WattStation Wall Mount Plug in version (for outdoor use) is not FULLY charging my 2014 Ford Fusion Energi. I only get about 13 miles charged when using it before system shuts off. Anyone experience this, and have solution? Thanks for reply.

Before I bought my 2013 FFE, I was talking to a handyman who is also an electrician. I asked him about the energy required to charge a Fusion Energi. He said it might be comparable to the energy needed to power a refrigerator or freezer in one's garage. Is this a fair comparison? I am not questioning the handyman, but I liked the comparison. Some people keep an extra refrigerator or a freezer in their garage/carport and I bet they usually don't think twice about the power it consumes. I have used this analogy when trying to educate a skeptical ICE-owner who says "Yeah, but I bet it costs a lot to charge your car." I can tell them x cents or x kilowatts, but I think the average person understands the extra fridge/freezer story better. But I'm wondering if the refrigerator or freezer would consume even more power since it is plugged in all the time - whereas a FFE is only plugged in for maybe 5-6 hours. In my case, I just use a standard 120v wall outlet. I plug my car in after 9PM. That also got me to thinking about the energy required to run a water heater. Everyone has one of those in their garage or inside their home. I know it depends on the size of the heater and the temperature setting, etc. But would, say, a 50-gallon water heater use a comparable amount of energy over a 24-hour period? I'm always trying to think of easier and better ways to explain my car.
-
Does anyone out there know if it is alright to leave the FFE plugged in even after it finishes completely charging? Say, like all day and night. I like to keep it plugged in because I never know if I will have to run out, and I just want to make sure that I am not harming the battery. Thanks.

Hi, My 2013 Fusion has not been charging for three days now (5K miles). I get a text that says Car's Scheduled Charge has not begun. I have mine set to default, which I believe to mean charge when it is plugged in, not on a schedule. I have no value charge schedules set. Is this a known issue? Any way to reset it without having to go to the dealership?

On a 2014 Fusion Energi Is it possible to charge the high-voltage Energi (7.6 kWh Lithium-ion) battery from excess electrical energy generated by the gas-powered engine and/or regen braking system when in hybrid power mode? The left-side multi-function display seems to indicate that more power is going into the battery while in hybrid mode, but the EV battery level never seems to increase. Or is there a separate EV mode battery from the hybrid mode battery? Anyone know the details on how the hybrid charging works and whether it is charging the same battery used in EV mode? Thanks.

Hi community. I decided to post a modified "form letter" that I have been sending to local malls and restaurants in my area encouraging them to install PHEV charging stations. I decided to make it available to the community, so if inclined, you can do the same. I have to say that I already had success at one outdoor shopping area. The idea is to make it simple for the potential businesses to become aware of the growing PHEV market and how inexpensive the stations are. Note: Everything in brackets [ ] should be replaced with the business you are targeting, as well as your name, where appropriate. Good luck and if you have time, please spread the word. Steve ==================================================== Hi [manager name], my name is [my name] and I am a Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) owner. Each day there are more and more PHEV and electric only vehicles on the road which is positively affecting our environment and decreasing our dependence on foreign oil. Our vehicles have various electric only ranges, so we look for and encourage more businesses to install the Charging Stations. The ideal location for charging stations is where someone will be for a couple of hours, such as a [mall name or restaurant]. This effort can be a boon to your business. The PHEV owners specifically look for public PHEV stations when we are looking to dine at a restaurant, or shop. For example, [town name] has stations all over town from their parking garages to the [mall name]. This is a perfect opportunity for the [mall name or restaurant] to install a station or two and advertise that you have such a station(s). You may be the first in our area. [PHEV Station], just down the road from the [mall] has a station which works perfectly for diners. Please consider having a Level 2 charging station installed for your patrons. The PHEV community is very active and word of mouth of new charging stations spreads quickly among us. Level 2 stations are around $2000. There are various manufacturers on the market. Here is a link to one of the USA manufacturers. http://stores.homestead.com/ClipperCreekInc/-strse-1/CS-dsh-40/Detail.bok The EV infrastructure tax credit on an EV charge station is 30% up to $1000 for consumers and 30% up to $30,000 for businesses. Please see the link to the Department of Energy. http://www.afdc.energy.gov/laws/law/US/10513 If I can be of further assistance, or if you have any questions, please email me. Thanks for considering the installation of PHEV charging stations. [your name and email]

Can anyone tell me if there is an advantage to getting the Ford's Leviton 240 volt charging station over some other one? Seems like you pay a premium for the Ford name on it (even though I like having that). Does it have more features? Getting it installed is no problem for me. Is there another Charge Station that anyone would recommend and why? Thanks. JD Taylor

From the album: Car
The following plot shows the power to the HVB vs. Speed for a 60 mile commute when the ICE is on. Negative power means the HVB is charging. During most of the trip, the HVB is being charged when the ICE is on. -
So, I wanted a spare charger for my vehicle and found them to be stupidly expensive. I did some research on them, and it appears the charging apparatus itself does nothing except give status lights. It does not contain a transformer or a regulator, those things must be located internally in the engine and are not reliant on the charger itself. So, as someone who deals with electric circuits at work, I want to create my own cord. I am thinking of getting the same handle Ford uses and wiring directly to AC power. What would be the reason this would not work? Anyone tried this or know of something I am missing about the Ford supplied charger besides status lights? The Ford charger there is not much information on, but the Leviton charger I was able to get information for. The only features I would not have are the following: "Built In Communication verifies proper connections before charging can begin" - which is fancy for ensure circuit is complete "Auto-Restart" feature that enables charging to restart after a minor fault - This one confuses me because I do not know why it would stop charging after a minor fault, something internal to the engine? To me neither of these are worth the extra $500 I would be paying to get their charger. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.
