it is right in the middle of the cord so very easily repairable but how can i repair it?
-
I just found out that (i guess by mowing the lawn) there is a cut in my charger cord. Can anybody tell me what the best way to fix this because a new charger at Ford will cost me over $700. Any thoughts are welcome. Oh just for the record, I live in PA and we get bunch of rain and starting from now snow with freezing temperatures, and my car has to stay outside as I do not have a garage. Thanks

Highest miles showing after full recharge
WouterP replied to JesseDiaz's topic in Batteries & Charging
How does our FFE calculate how far we can go on a charge? Today for the first time (yesterday it said 22 miles) it showed me 31 miles on the battery and this with the regular 110v charger. Now for my daily 75 miles trip to work, 44.5 were EV Miles. Can anybody please explain me how they calculate the EV miles and what is the meaning of this? My trip gave me 65 MPG and this is for the first time that I go over 60 MPG on this trip. Does the battery need some charges to become more efficient? I have my car for 2,5 weeks now. Thanks for the help and advice -

Amazing, that is the only word I can use for this car. Today I had my first real long drive. Drove on I-81 from around mile marker 209 (where I took gas) all the way to Harrisburg, PA.I kept my battery charge for on the way home later today and just wanted to see what was possible in regular hybrid mode. I kept myself to the max speed limit (65 mph) unless it was 55, then I stayed at 60. Now the good part. I'm pleased to announce that according to my car my MPGc for this trip was: 47.2. I never thought to get this result because I had to go through the mountains but this is much better then Ford announces. My car has only 600 miles at this time so I'm sure I can do better in the future, after a couple of 1000 miles, but only time will tell.

Congrats!!! You will not regret buying this car. Got mine also last Friday and till now on an average of 48MPG. Today I drove for the first time completely electric to and from my destination. I live in the mountains and 60% of the way up there was going up the hill, of course 60% was back down the hill but I managed to drive the 25 miles completely electric :). You will find out that it becomes a game to stay as long as possible in electric but I told myself I do not want to adapt my speed for it. I drive around the maximum allowed speed and see how far I can come with it and I realize that I still have loads to learn when it comes to regen or acceleration. Good luck with your car and please post what ever you think is important so we all can learn from each other!!!

Picking up my Ford Fusion Energi Titanium tomorrow
WouterP replied to WouterP's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
2 things I want to mention 1) I picked up my car yesterday and I was disappointed the dealer didn't give me a full battery charge :( (they did activate the daytime running lights for free). I was kind of very careful on my way home, got stuck in traffic around Baltimore and I was surprised to see that after a trip of 2,5 hours and roughly 125 miles I got an average of 45 MPG what was not bad at all. Now a quick question, if I'm not mistaken, with complete death battery you run pure hybrid. If i choose EV Later then the car will not use any electric stored in the battery so my MPG will probably lower in that case. I ask this question because when I drive to work I'm fine with depleting my battery in the first part (mountains) and switch over to Hybrid once on the highway but on my way back I want to save the battery power for when I'm back in the mountains (where the car would use the most gas). Can anybody confirm my thought here? EV Now -----> Electric engine (118 hp) EV Later -----> Gas engine (141 hp) EV Auto -----> Electric and Gas engine (188 hp) Once I understand this I can figure out the best scheme for my use. 2) I just saw that Ford had to lower their EPA ratings again today. OK this gives us some money back ($850 in my case) but at the other hand I'm a bit disappointed in Ford, especially the car is already 2 years around and they had to lower it already once. Your thought? -
Back in Europe I was an Audi driver and although Audi is known for high standards and quality, this car exceeds it by far. The materials used in the car and the options who are on it makes this car to be the best car I've ever owned :)

I did and picked up my car today. This car is awesome, Ok you need to get used to the CVT (am European and was first used to stick, now my Fiesta had a dual clutch) but OMG this car is pretty fast and o so quiet. For one or other reason was my battery not charged when I picked it up :(, but I asked them to activate my DRL and first they were sceptic, but at the end they found the code and did it for me. So on my way back (2,5 hour drive through Baltimore in rush hour :/) and with an empty battery, my MPG was 45 (with airco on), just as I hoped it would be. I need to learn to regenerate better but that will come in time. I do have a quick question, is the Titanium version coming with mirrors that get dark? I know my internal mirror does but was kind of surprised that my drivers mirror does the same. To come back on the hills, yes we have steep hills that I have to go over and that was the reason that I wanted the Energi and not the Hybrid, time will tell if it was the best solution. But there was not much price difference between both and with the tax credit and tax rebate from the state Pennsylvania, this car was even cheaper then a Hybrid. If I have more questions, I'll post them in the designated parts of this forum!! Thx for the warm welcome

After driving a Ford Fiesta SE for the last year and half (moved over from Belgium and was a full time student so had not too much money to spent on a car) it was time to find something more comfortable ride. Now my daily commute to work is not that you would typically choose a plug in hybrid, I drive 75 miles a day to work, but I guess it might work great. At this point the first 18 miles are through the mountains of central PA until I get on the highway. The rest will be highway (around 60mph) until I'm in Harrisburg, finishing up with an other 5 miles into the city. I have the possibility to charge at work so I hope to drive 40 miles electric. My Fiesta got an average of 33 mpg and I hope that the Fusion will not only give me a more comfortable ride but also gives me a much better millage. Not sure how much I can get but I hope to end up around 60 mpg, I keep you all posted
