  1. It is a 240 volt charger. There is a picture of it in post #22. Pulling the plug is possible but very difficult to do since it takes a lot of force to engage and disengage a 6-20P plug.
  2. I just modified my charger installation to have an on/off switch. The charger draws 10 watts while waiting to be put to use. 10 watts x 24 hours x 30.4 days / 1000 = 7.3 kwh per month That's one less phantom load wasting power in my house.
  3. See post #22 under Batteries & Charging --> L1 charging amperage requirements for my recommendation of how to install the Leviton L2 charger and a picture of the installation. That thread started wandering off topic and I didn't realize it was the wrong thread until after the post was done.
  4. The ninth digit from the left in the vin is a check digit. You can't just increment the rightmost digit and get a valid vin. The formula is unknown (to me) so you would have to try all ten combinations of the check digit with each increment of the least significant digit.
  5. I recommend that you get the unit and mount it before you hire an electrician. The power cord is one foot long and stiff as a board. An extension cord is not permitted. The only way the electrician will get the box mounted in the right place is to assemble the outlet box and outlet, plug the cord into the outlet, and then determine where and how to attach the outlet box to a stud. If your garage has plaster board, resist the option to mount the outlet box to the plaster board. A tremendous amount of force is required to seat the plug fully into the outlet. A 6-20P plug has much wider blades than is used on 120 volt appliances. Note that I did not use the grossly overpriced $80 installation kit. The parts in that kit are not worth more than $10. The unit is hung from a lag bolt with several screws in the bottom bracket to lock it into place so it can't be lifted off of the lag bolt.
  6. See the fourth entry under "Fusion Energi Discussion".
  7. I've been checking the main Ford web site periodically for the Energi Owners Guide and getting a statement (in red) that it wasn't available. I was browsing through the Fusion Hybrid forum and came across the following link. http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdirs/retail/default.asp?pageid=&gutsid=&kevin=rules Look under "Non-Subscription Resources" for "Owner Guides" The document doesn't have a title page but appears to be the Energi Guide. :)
  8. https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/pdfs/VIN2013.pdf Line, Series, Body Type P0S Fusion Titanium PHEV That's a zero, not an oh.
  9. I don't understand your wife's concern. The Energi has a gasoline engine to back up the electric drive. To my knowledge there are no Energis on the street yet. The production line is in its start up state. LiIon batteries can be recharged at any time. The remaining range depends on how the car is driven. Jack rabbit starts from stop lights will use up the available energy much more quickly. This forum is for the Ford Fusion Energi. What car are you describing?
  10. Unless you make a lot of trips from home to somewhere else every day you probably don't need the 240 volt charger. I hardly ever leave the house after 9 PM and don't leave before 8 AM the next morning so there is 11 hours for the car to charge overnight. And unlike a full electric car if the battery runs low the engine is available. My plan is to use the supplied 120 volt charger for a while to see if I need the high power one. That said I just bought the parts and wire to install a 120 volt outlet near the car because the existing outlets are too far from the left front of the car. Fortunately when I bought the house 34 years ago, when copper was cheap, I ran a dedicated circuit to the garage using 10 gauge wire so it will be easy to tap into that circuit. Also the engine needs to be brought to full operating temperature at least once a week or condensation will form inside resulting in water in the oil. It needs to be at full temperature to evaporate any water that has condensed into the oil.
  11. Go to http://www.ford.com and click on Shopping Tools and then click on Brochures.
  12. Every Ford dealer that has been certified to sell and service electric cars must have at least two charging stations installed. My dealer has one on the wall of the building adjacent to the parking lot right outside the main entrance.
