How to Read Window Sticker to Find Build/Ship Date
murphy replied to mets67's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
It depends on the availability of railcars and whether they have enough vehicles going to the same destination to fill a railcar. They don't load a railcar until they have enough vehicles lined up to fill it. Depending on the size of the vehicles a railcar holds 10 to 15 vehicles. My car shipped the day after it was built. -
I don't follow this statement. The Energi is a Hybrid when the big battery is discharged or the car is put in EV Later mode.

I have not yet run a VHR in my new car. In my 2010 once a VHR had been created it wouldn't do another one for 28 days unless something had changed even if the data transmission had failed. It's sad to hear that 4 years later that hasn't been fixed. That car considered the parking brake being on an error since the brake icon was lit. I could force it to run another one by changing the state of the parking brake icon. I don't know if that works in a 2013. I always run the VHR on the first day of the month so will be trying it on Wednesday.

How about shifting to L and turning grade assist on at the same time.

Page 176 of the Owner's Manual describes Grade Assist and the use of L for engine braking. It says that L provides maximum engine braking.

Am I eligible for both a rebate and a tax credit?
murphy replied to howardbc's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Unfortunately my power company only has two options, regular and residential heating. They haven't installed the new smart meter at my house yet although they announced it over a year ago. I do get a $30 per month credit for June through September for allowing them to cycle the power to my A/C compressor when they are approaching system overload. -

Check with your power company. Mine says they will give me $50 just for notifying them that I have a plug-in hybrid vehicle. -
I was sitting in the car today with the car turned off and the driver's door open. The brake icon was flashing at a rate of 9 seconds on and 18 seconds off. When I got out and closed the door the flashing stopped. I could not find anything in the owner's manual to tell what it means.

Welcome to 2020: Ford Fusion Energi Technology
murphy replied to doug's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
The Energi has a 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and the ESP doesn't kick in until that warranty expires. If you are a high mileage driver it probably makes sense but I won't drive 36,000 miles in the next three years so I will get a full 3 year warranty. Then there is the 5 year 50,000 mile powertrain warranty and the 8 year 100,000 mile hybrid unique components warranty. The only thing new in the Energi is the much bigger battery and it's charging and drive control system. The rest of the car is the same as the 2010 Fusion Hybrid that I drove for 4 years with zero problems. -

My 2010 Fusion Hybrid had an Atkinson engine and an eCVT. Going down a steep hill in L caused the engine to rev up to where it became quite loud. The explanation given was that it didn't burn any fuel and was acting like an air compressor to provide braking.

My power company is going to give me $50 for telling them I have a plug-in electric car.

It appears that the GO time calculations are not very accurate. The first time it was 10 minutes late. The second time it was 15 minutes late. It looks like I have to set the GO time to be 15 minutes earlier than I want to leave for it to be completed on time.

The warranty is on the window sticker. 3 yr/36000 mile bumper to bumper 5 yr/60000 mile powertrain 5 yr/60000 mile roadside assistance 8 yr/100000 mile hybrid unique components

Interesting, I suppose that it is free because they want you to spend the two hours it takes to charge the car roaming around their store.

If those gates use a Skylink brand receiver it probably isn't going to work. I have a Skylink replacement receiver on my garage door and no way will the Homelink controller in the car learn from the Skylink transmitter. Two emails to Homelink support have been ignored so it's obvious (to me) that they don't have a solution.

There are no Chargepoint stations anywhere near where I live. The closest one would use all of the battery and more just returning home.

Here is the actual pre-heat profile. This is the full house load so subtract 0.9 KW from the graph to get the pre-heat load.

That's the way it is supposed to work. The "pop" is a big relay being activated. The car itself controls charging. The "charger" is just a power source that the car charging system can control.

My car was in the garage over night at 47 degrees. The battery was fully charged. I had a Go time set for this morning at 72 degrees. It took about 15 minutes for the car to warm up and consumed 1.1KWH. I have the 3.8KW charger.

The difference in my home electric bill was....
murphy replied to jeff_h's topic in Batteries & Charging
Wow. I pay 16 cents per KWH. It will go down during June through September when the power company gives me a $30 per month rebate to allow them to control my air conditioning compressor. When they have an approaching system overload event they start cycling the compressor off and on every 15 minutes for the duration of the event. -

murphy replied to jeff_h's topic in Batteries & Charging
Pick up a Kill-A-Watt and put it between the wall outlet and the charger. It will tell you exactly how many KWH it took to charge the battery. My last charge of a fully depleted battery took 7.09 KWH. http://www.amazon.com/P3-International-P4400-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1366503790&sr=1-1&keywords=kill+a+watt -
The following is a graph of the KW load while charging an Energi battery that has been completely emptied. The graph doesn't start and end at zero because this is the total load of my house. Subtract 0.9 KW from the graph to get the charge load. The charge consumed 7.09 KWH. At my rate of $0.16 per KWH that is $1.13. After 1 hour the charge stopped momentarily probably to check the battery state of charge. At the end of the charge cycle the charge rate was stepped down. The charge time was 2:09 with the temperature at 70 degrees.

No problem. I thought I was reloading from cache instead of getting the updated version. Enjoying it very much but the learning curve is steep. Did a run on the turnpike this morning, using EV only at 65 mph, to completely drain the battery so I can get a plot of the full charge cycle.

What is the construction of the garage? wood studs or metal studs? wood siding or metal siding or stucco which is put on a metal screen? I'm stuck in never-never land with myford mobile. I did not receive the confirmation email and they have no clue how to resend it. (yes I checked both of my spam traps). I tried to create another account using a different email address but that was rejected because my cell phone number was in the first account. They escalated it to engineering and said wait three weeks. Actually they did something right. After several days passed without the account being confirmed it was deleted. I re-created it today and this time I got the confirmation email. It would have been nice if the person that I called for help had told me that would happen.
