  1. If you have an Intelligent Access (IA) key there is a silver bar between the lock and unlock buttons. Look at the top of the silver bar for a tiny LED. You have to be looking at it when the car starts because the blink is very short.
  2. The ICE is started by the HVB. HVB depletion does not mean that the portion of the HVB reserved for hybrid operation is depleted. They will not allow that to happen. If the hybrid portion gets to the low trip point the ICE is started to recharge the hybrid battery. One of the MG sets is used to turn the ICE. I don't remember which one is used.
  3. Are you using the procedure that is graphically depicted on the plastic tag that was attached to the IA key? Push the lock button. Then push the start button twice.
  4. Because it's a Ford proprietary battery as was the one in my 2010 Hybrid. The battery is not available from any other battery manufacturer. It does not appear in the BCI chart. http://www.rtpnet.org/~teaa/bcigroup.html Group 99 but not 99R appears in the following chart. http://www.batteryweb.com/bci.cfm The 99 and 99R should be the same physical size since the R means the positive terminal is on the right side of the battery but no electrical specs are given. CCA is a meaningless specification for a battery that is not used as a "starter" battery. This car has no need for the 12 volt battery to provide 10 seconds of over 100 amperes since there is no starter motor in the car. It needs a deep cycle battery that maintains its voltage until it is almost completely discharged and can be recharged without damage to the battery. "Starter" batteries are quite often destroyed by completely discharging them.
  5. It's driving style and use of climate control. What do the three lines on the coach display look like?
  6. Doesn't L spin the engine, without feeding it any gasoline, to provide braking? The button increases regenerative braking which dumps the energy into the HVB instead of wasting it.
  7. A few people have done it themselves. http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6042-titanium-pedals-and-lighted-door-sill-plates/page-2?do=findComment&comment=60773
  8. That is to prevent someone taking a test drive and taking control of the car. The second request in the car will be at least 24 hours after the first one.
  9. 1. I don't know if the 12 volt battery gets weak while the charger is plugged in if it will resume charging or not. 2. If the 12 volt battery is dead, HVB charging can't be initiated because the circuits that communicate with the charger run on 12 volts. It's slightly harder to do, since the hood has to be open, but a standard battery maintainer connected to the jump points under the hood should keep the 12 volt battery ready to go at all times. That only works at home. I have yet to pull the panel that covers the battery to see how it is secured in place but from feeling around the battery there appears to be plenty of room around the battery that might allow for a physically larger battery. The mounting method might be a problem since I don't know how they did it with the stock battery. Wow! $258.04 for a battery and no mention anywhere, that I can find, of a warranty.
  10. If the battery is fully charged the meter will stay on when when you turn the car off and open the driver's door. It will turn off by timer later. If the battery is low the meter will turn off the instant the driver's door is opened. That is my normal situation. After siting unused for several days, and not on charge, the first reading on the meter the instant I push the On button has been as low as 11.1 volts. It then jumps to over 14 volts as the charger begins charging the battery.
  11. The BS part. Either the system crashed or they have a memory leak problem that they can't find and periodically restart the system to get the lost memory back. My ReplayTV boxes rebooted every 7 days for the same reason.
  12. From the Owner's Manual Recreational Towing Note: Put your climate control system in recirculated air mode to prevent exhaust fumes from entering the vehicle. See Climate Control (page ?). Follow these guidelines if you have a need for recreational (RV) towing. An example of recreational towing would be towing your vehicle behind a motorhome. We designed these guidelines to prevent damage to your transmission You can tow your vehicle with all four wheels on the ground or with the front wheels off the ground by using a tow dolly. If you are using a tow dolly, follow the instructions specified by the equipment provider. If you tow your vehicle with all four wheels on the ground: • Tow only in the forward direction. • Release the parking brake. • Place the transmission in position N. • Place the ignition in the accessory position. See Starting and Stopping the Engine (page 132). • Do not exceed 70 mph (113 km/h). • Place the transmission in position P, start the vehicle and allow it to run for one minute at the beginning of each day (you may need to press the accelerator pedal in order to start the vehicle). After allowing the vehicle to run, place the transmission back into position N and the ignition in the accessory position.
  13. When you go to the web site you get the last status reported by the car. It could be hours or days ago if the car hasn't been used. They initiate an update but it can take a minute or two to contact the car and get the data. If the car is in an AT&T dead spot there will be no update.
  14. That is definitely the case. As I said previously on the forum there is a current spike in excess of 10 amps when an update is requested from the car by MyFordMobile. I don't know why their cell transmitter needs so much power.
  15. Click "My Driving" then "Trip & Charge Log". Click the arrow on the trip you want to see. It shows Trip Miles, EV Miles, kWh used, Fuel Economy, Brake Score, Driving Score, and miles from Regen (under brake score).
  16. That's somewhat confusing since the battery is in the trunk. Go straight back toward the windshield from the red plastic cover and you will see a bolt sticking up out of the frame.
  17. Was your car in a parking garage at the airport? The data comes from a Sirius satellite but I don't know how often it it transmitted or what the age factor is to delete old data. A few hours is certainly long enough for traffic data to become useless.
  18. I already had the battery so it was not an additional expense. This is the voltage monitor that I have in my car. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00962CQNC/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  19. It matches the German power grid for voltage and frequency (230 volts, 50 HZ). It provides 15 or 16 amps as requested by the car so it is level 2. The only remaining unknown is does an Energi built for US consumption accept 50 HZ power? The vehicle charger is misnamed. It does not convert AC to DC. It supplies AC to the car and the car converts it to DC. The car could have been designed to handle 50 or 60HZ but only Ford engineering can answer the question. I have not seen it mentioned in any published Energi speifications.
  20. I take a large fully charged car battery and connect it to the jumper terminals under the hood with an ammeter in series with the positive lead. I then go to the trunk and remove the negative terminal from the battery post. The reverse process is to connect the negative terminal to the battery post in the trunk and then disconnect the battery from the jumper terminals under the hood. The car is never without power.
  21. The driver alert attempts to detect a driver that is sleepy and in danger of dozing off. The warning has to come before actually dozing off or it would be of no value. I don't know what the criteria is but think it involves steering wheel monitoring. When I first got my car I was experimenting with the lane following feature and took my hands off of the steering wheel. The car almost immediately told me to put my hands back on the steering wheel.
  22. L is not a low gear. There are no gears in eCVT. The sole purpose for L is to provide maximum engine braking. Page 176 in the Owner's Manual.
  23. I have a Galaxy S II. Automatic phone book download works. Text messaging works. I don't know what Photo ID is. I find it hard to believe that an S IV would have fewer capabilities than an S II.
