Issue with climate control.. 72 vs 73 degrees
murphy replied to TechOps's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Push the Maximum A/C button. The Max A/C, A/C, and Recirculate buttons should be lit up Push the A/C button. Push the Recirculate button. Set the fan speed that you want. Put the moon roof in vent mode or crack both rear windows open a few inches. I didn't figure this out but it works and is easier for me to execute because it doesn't involve using the touch screen. -
They ran a hypermiling test on the 2010 Fusion Hybrid and got 1445.7 miles before the tank ran dry. http://green.autoblog.com/2009/04/28/ford-fusion-hybrid-hypermiles-goes-1-445-miles-on-a-single-tank/

Fuelly.com adds the Fusion Energi to their database
murphy replied to Taylorjd's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I track MPGe on fuelly. I have a kWh meter to measure all charges to the battery. At the end of the month I convert the total charge number to to equivalent gallons of gasoline. I also record any gasoline used from the trip meter. I do not record actual gasoline fill-ups on fuelly. I add gasoline used to equivalent gallons and record that as a fill up. The cost value is calculated from what the electricity cost plus what I paid for the 2 gallons of gasoline I put in the tank in May just to verify the fueling system was working. I don't care about the cost figures on Fuelly but you have to enter something. -
I had to manually create a Home charge location based on the current GPS data because almost all maps place my house in the wrong location. I live on a short street where the house numbers run from 300 to 321. Unfortunately most of the map creators allocated the house locations as if the house numbers ran from 300 to 399. Entering my address puts my house about 10 feet from the end of the block. The house was built in 1957 which predates all electronic maps.

As I found out too late, X plan is also available to anyone that has held at least 100 shares of Ford stock for at least 6 months.

It's a European web site where they don't sell the Fusion. The fact that they car name is wrong means nothing is reliable. Check your window sticker for "Advancetrac ESC"

Seat memory with Intelligent Access Fob

My seat moves into position when I push the Start button. -
I connected my car to the charger today. MFM reported that the car was charging. Several hours later I realized I hadn't received the end of charging notification. I checked the charger and it was done so I disconnected the charger from the car. The MFM web site indicated the car was still charging and would complete an hour and a half ago. The web site was unable to contact the car. I moved the car 6" forward and the charge complete notification came in. Apparently I had stopped in a null for the AT&T cell tower. It would be helpful if there was a signal strength indicator for the MFM radio.

That will not hurt the HVB. The charging is computer controlled. However the statement about fully discharging a mobile device battery has not been true since the days of ni-cad batteries. The quickest way to kill a Li-Ion battery is to completely discharge it. They should be recharged whenever it is convenient. The HVB can go to zero. However at that point the Hybrid part of the car's Li-Ion battery is still at 1.1 kW. The computer in the car will not let that part of the HVB go below 25% SOC. If it get's that low the ICE is started to charge it up.

Help with battery question, just bought a new Energi
murphy replied to Scott Tran's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
My dealer has a public facing charger but they always have cars parked in front of it so it isn't available. Ford said they had to install it but didn't say they had to let anyone use it.- 11 replies

Update: It has been two weeks since I put the "big" battery into the car. There have been no battery saver messages and the power ports continue to be on for over an hour when I park the car. :)

This is an ongoing problem and is probably a result of the 12 volt battery getting too low. It's easily fixed. Push the window down button and continue holding the button for 5 seconds after the glass stops moving. Push the window up button and continue holding the button for 5 seconds after the glass stops moving. Push the window down button and continue holding the button for 5 seconds after the glass stops moving. That should be enough to fix it.

Lane Keeping System... meh.
murphy replied to FusionDad's topic in Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies
The camera looks for the lines on the edges of the lane. There has to be at least one line and you have to be at 40 mph or higher for it to work. Going from memory If you are below 40 mph the lane marks in the left display will be white. At 40 or above they turn green if you are centered in the lane. If you drift to one side the marker for that side will turn yellow. If you keep drifting it will attempt to steer back into the lane. If you hold the wheel and prevent it from correcting it will turn red and vibrate the steering wheel. There are settings in the setup menus that allow some configuration of how you want it to work. -
Yes or enter your code on the door pillar. The only time the metal key should be needed is if the 12 volt battery is completely dead in which case the alarm isn't going to sound. For a dead battery in the IA key use the door pillar key pad to unlock the car and then put the IA key in the console pocket to operate the car.

If your car is sitting in a dead spot for the AT&T cell network the web site won't be able to contact the car. You can set up a Go time in the car on the MFT screen.

It's difficult to estimate because as the car cools down the A/C load drops. Use pre-conditioning while plugged in so the car starts out already cool. The best approach is to enable recirculation so hot air isn't being continually introduced to the car.

Battery Charger Interference with X10 System
murphy replied to murphy's topic in Batteries & Charging
I have lots of those plug-in filters. I also have a couple inline filters sitting in the basement. It would take two inline filters in the 240 volt feed, one on each leg, to block the noise. I am taking a different approach first. I looked up the coding for the house code and as befits my user name I picked J when I got into X10 probably about 10 yeras ago. The 4 bit code for J is 1111. That is the worst pick if noise is present. I have changed to a house code that has some zeros in it and will see if the problem still exists the next time I charge the car. The best choice would be M (0000) but that is already in use for my macros. -
Battery Charger Interference with X10 System
murphy replied to murphy's topic in Batteries & Charging
I got a response from a Leviton engineer. Yes, that is possible that noise will do that. Unfortunately, we use to have filters that can be added to the actual switch/dimmer device, but they are no longer available. It was model 6287. Possibly try searching for X10 filters online or try to procure one through Amazon. This guy has no clue how X10 works since adding a filter to an X10 device would prevent it from working. The filter gets added to the offending device. That said x10.com is out of business. x10-pro, which apparently is a separate company, is trying to take over the product line. http://x10pro-usa.com/about-us -
The filter in my 2010 Fusion Hybrid was filthy after 12,000 miles.

Battery Charger Interference with X10 System
murphy replied to murphy's topic in Batteries & Charging
Come to think of it only wall switches have been turned on. They are unique in that they don't have a neutral wire. They depend on a small trickle current through the cold filament of an incandescent lamp bulb to work. I changed the house code yesterday to see if that will have any effect. My suspicion is that when the charger disconnects at the end of charging it is injecting noise onto the AC line. -
I have a Leviton 240 volt 16 amp charger. I have an X10 system that controls lights and a camera. At the end of the car charging cycle one or more of my X10 controlled lights may turn on. It doesn't happen every time. Usually it's the pole lamp in the front yard. Second most often is the light in the master bathroom. Does anyone have the same configuration of 240 volt charger and X10 lighting control? If you do, have you encountered the same problem. X10 uses 120 kHz pulses during the zero crossing of the AC waveform to do it's signalling.

MFM always shows the full battery capability with heat and A/C turned off. The icon in the car always shows the capability with the current climate setting included. How it was charged has nothing to do with it.

It's limited to the preceeding 30 days, Mine says 24 miles and I haven't put in any gasoline since May.
