  1. I have a similar situation. Most (All for October) of my power comes from the solar panels on my roof. Unfortunately they don't work after the sun goes down so I'm bringing power back from the grid that I previously fed to it during the day. I really dislike cloudy days now.
  2. So if the wind stops blowing your house goes dark? ;)
  3. Disconnect the plug using your left hand and immediately close the door with your right hand before you walk away to put the charging plug away. Since I started doing this I have not left the door open at all.
  4. Don't get to your car late. If it overshoots on the heat it turns on the air conditioner to bring the heat back down.
  5. There are two of them. One on the dash and one next to the license plate light.
  6. It probably won't be a problem but if you want to be sure it is dry take a hair dryer set to blow cold air and use it to evaporate any moisture that may be in the contacts.
  7. That's because you have the IA key in your pocket. That's the way it is supposed to work. Put the IA key out of range and the button will no longer work.
  8. There are many variables. What direction does the roof face? What is the tilt angle of the roof? What is your average monthly kWh value? My usage for a year was slightly less than 10,000 kWh, divided by 12 that's 833 kWh per month. Are there any trees that cast shadows on the roof? I photographed my roof once an hour from sunrise to sunset prior to buying the system. There is a 30% federal tax credit on the cost of the system. Do they allow netmetering where you are? I have three meters: power in from PECO, power out to PECO, and total production of the panels. Don't worry about what other people think.
  9. 10 kW consisting of 40 panels of 250 watts each. Each panel has its own microinverter. Those are the DC ratings for the panels. Maximum AC production will probably never exceed 8 kW. Here is a real time (actually 15 minutes earlier) look at the system. https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/pv/public_systems/r5Ns249308
  10. My electric bill for October was $7.08. That's the fixed monthly charge. My grid tied solar electric system covered all of my usage and I banked 1 kWh for future use. Based on the power that I actually used my cost per kWh, ignoring the cost of the system, was $0.00816. And before anyone asks I don't care what the break even point is. I look at it as an improvement to the house, similar to installing a swimming pool, that will raise the value of the house.
  11. Did you have recirculate turned on? If not there was cold air from outside being brought in continuously to be heated.
  12. I've been preconditioning mine for almost 7 months. The ICE hasn't started. There is no reason that it should with unlimited energy available from the wall. I would hope the ICE is inhibited from starting whenever the car is plugged in.
  13. Motors are especially troublesome since they draw about 7 times their normal running current for up to a half a second when starting.
  14. It depends on the household circuit. Is it a 15 amp or a 20 amp circuit? The charger draws between 12 and 15 amps. If anything else is in use on the circuit it may trip the circuit breaker. On a 15 amp circuit nothing else should be in use. On a 20 amp circuit you might get away wilth one appliance but it would have to be a 5 amp or less load. The problem with most household circuits is there is not a continuous run of wire to the last outlet on the circuit. It daisy chains from outlet to outlet which means there are four pressure connections at each outlet (two hot and two neutrals). If the screws are not tight at an outlet the loose connection will get hot under the load from the charger.
  15. The GO time is the time that you want to leave. It will keep running for about 15 minutes after the GO time. The engine was not running. In one of my early tests the heat overshot the set temperature so the A/C came on to bring it back down. The A/C makes a lot of noise in a garage.
  16. Read post #26 (two posts before your #28 post). It is not a universal problem.
  17. My GO times have worked consistently since I got the car in April. One possible difference is that I do not use value charge profiles since my electric rate is the same value 24 hours a day. I assume that if the HVB is not fully charged, charging would take precedence over climate control.
  18. Be careful when cleaning the windshield with a product like Windex. If it gets on the dash it is bad for the surface. Cover the dash with thick cloth towels to protect it.
  19. If your parents garage door has a Skylink controller it is not compatible with Homelink. Does the controller on your parents garage door have a program button? There is a button on the side of the motor housing on mine that has to be pushed and it then provides a 30 second window to recognize a new controller.
  20. Is your "excellent cell connectivity" with AT&T? Does MFM show the current location of your car and the current odometer reading? Is MFM reporting each segment of your trips and your charge times? You can enter GO times directly in the car.
  21. If the HVB is full neither hill assist or low gear would be able to provide any braking since there is no place for the energy that is generated to go. The engine should come on to provide the back pressure while descending the hill. There should be no fuel consumed by the engine. Either clear one of the trip meters or note the fuel value before you start out.
  22. It depends. If you sit in the car going through all of the goodies without it being in RUN mode it will drain the 12 volt battery. Using the global window down/up function has 4 (5 if you have a moon roof) motors running at the same time. There are many systems running off of the 12 volt battery. The 12 volt battery is not a full size battery. Unfortunately Ford has not published the specifications for the battery other than 390 CCA which is totally meaningless in this car since it doesn't have a starter motor.
  23. Open the center storage console lid and look at the bottom of the lid with a flashlight.
  24. Turn off the heater and A/C and you will get more miles. The number is nothing more than an educated guess based on how the car has previously been driven. Improve your driving technique and the number will go up.
