  1. They could use existing owners on an optin basis to wring out the bugs in the new system. That is unless they also plan to change to different hardware (cpu, memory, etc) in which case we will be left behind.
  2. The Energi has a pressurized fuel system. When the button is pressed the pressure is reduced to match the ambient pressure before the door is opened.
  3. This chart https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/main/quickref/oilchart.pdf says 4.5 quarts including oil filter. However this chart also says 0W-20 which is known to be in error per the Ford Service rep on the forum. Have you checked the dipstick to see what the oil level is?
  4. I don't know about Craftsman electronics since they were replaced a long time ago on my 1977 vintage Craftsman garage door opener. I do know that Skylink electronics are not compatible with Homelink. Chamberlain electronics are compatiblle. That is what is now on my Craftsman garage door opener.
  5. P2183 Ford Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Performance Possible causes - Low coolant level - Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor - Stuck or leaking thermostat - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor harness is open or shorted - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor circuit poor electrical connection - Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) P2183 Ford Description The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that the engine coolant temperature sensor 2 circuit voltage is implausible.
  6. The oil change interval on an Energi is 20,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first.
  7. There is a Microsoft logo on the console just in front of the shifter. :future:
  8. When you look at the trunk make sure they demonstrate that both rear seat backs can be folded down and there is a small area to pass through from the trunk to the interior of the car. I have brought several 8 foot 2x4 s home from Lowe's using that pass through.
  9. I hope that is $0.1048 per kilowatt hour. $10.48 per kWh would be unbelievebally high. If you used 500 kWh per month your bill would be $5240.00. 1 gallon of gasoline is approximately equal to 33.7 kWh. It varies depending on whether it is winter or summer blend. 33.7 kWh at $0.1048 would be $3.53. If gasoline costs more than $3.53 per gallon, electricity would be cheaper. But if you can charge for free electric operation is considerably cheaper. A caution: Just because there is a socket available at your work garage does not mean that you are allowed to use it to charge your car. It may be there for the garage maintenance crew. You should get permission to use it.
  10. What percentage of the 35 miles is highway driving versus city driving? Keep in mind that the Energi with a depleted High Voltage Battery drives very much like a hybrid. You can force the car into hybrid mode (EVLater) which saves the battery. Drive the highway high speed miles in hybrid mode and the city and traffic jam miles in EVNow mode.
  11. I just got a third IA key programmed to my car (by the dealer - I couldn't get the process in the Owner's Manual to work). In the process of testing all of the functions I made a discovery that I have not seen documented anywhere. Only the IA key that was last used to operate the car can remote start it. If a remote start is attempted with a different key the function is rejected and ALL keys are locked out from being able to remote start the vehicle. I can't think of a reason for this lockout, anyone have any ideas? UPDATE: I got it wrong. Remote Start can only be done twice within one hour. After two remote starts the function is locked out for one hour. However the lockout can be reset by manually starting the car with the Start button. None of this is documented in the Owner's Manual under Remote Start.
  12. It depends on the vehicle. For a top heavy SUV 26 PSI is way too low. It's a federally mandated band-aid. If the car doesn't have a system that displays all of the actual tire pressures it is worthless. A high quality tire pressure gauge is not that expensive.
  13. It probably would overheat. The Focus battery is liquid cooled while the Energi battery is air cooled.
  14. Hydrogen is odorless. Properly operating Lithium-ion batteries are a sealed unit. They don't expel anything other than heat. Regen done lightly does not engage the service brakes at all. Check that the vent tube is still connected to the top left rear corner of your 12 volt battery. It vents gas underneath the car. Also check that the white plastic plug is installed in the vent hole at the front of the 12 volt battery.
  15. I finally got an email and a text message when my car finished charging this afternoon (February 16). The last notification was 9 days ago on February 7.
  16. Here is the government documentation for TPMS. http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shoppers/Tires/Tires+Rating/TPMS It doesn't specify what "low" is.
  17. Once again my car finished charging over 3 hours ago and there was no email or text message.
  18. All cars are now mandated to have a pressure too low sensor in each tire as a result of the SUV rollover problem years ago that was blamed on low tire pressure. An actual pressure readout is up to the manufacturer to provide but it would still have to display the warning if the tires were too low.
  19. The charger in the car steps down the charge rate at the end of the charge cycle, whether 120 volt or 240 volt, since it is dangerous to overcharge a lithium-ion battery. It's similar to how you would fill a glass of water to the top without spilling any. The external boxes are misnamed as chargers. The charger is in the car. The external boxes are power sources that the charger in the car can control. They also provide random cold startup delays so that after a commercial power failure all of the cars in the city don't start charging at the exact same time.
  20. My ex car dealer sells Ford, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, and RAM from the same lot. http://www.chapmannewcars.com/ My current dealer sells multiple car lines but they are not co-located in the same area.
  21. I have a large very thick plastic bag that I put the charger in, with the open end of the bag facing down, if I have to charge in a wet environment. This is on a 50 foot long 10 gauge extension cord. Yes I now it says not to use an extension cord but I believe that is because the vast majority of extension cords people have available are 16 gauge wire which is way too small for 12 amps. 10 gauge wire is good for up to 30 amps. The connector that plugs into the car is rated for outdoor use.
  22. I am no longer getting a text message and an email when charging is complete for my car. The boxes are checked in MFM to send the notifications. The charge completion notice does appear in MFM. :headscratch:
  23. It took exactly 12 weeks for my car to arrive in April of 2013. That was at the beginning of the production run so it may be faster now. Adaptive Cruise Control is the feature that I like the most about the car.
  24. No it was a general observation based on many reports of salespeople trying to steer customers away from the Energi.
  25. I've never understood the statement that if your commute is more than 21 miles you should get an FFH. An FFE with a depleted battery drives the same as an FFH. I looked at the Tesla but my brother lives 265 miles away in Charlottesville, VA and the nearest supercharger is 68 miles from there in Richmond, VA.
