  1. I tried to log into the SYNC web site this morning and got a screen that said I first have to add my car. Next I tried the Ford Owner web site. It accepted my log in but there is no record of my car. This whole situation is unbelievable. :rant2:  :rant2:  :rant2:  :swear: :rant2:
  2. I have a vague recollection of solving this problem about a year ago. It involved the worng format in the boot record of the USB drive. I think the solution involved the use of the DISKPART utility that is part of Windows and runs in a Command Prompt window. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300415
  3. I just received an email from Garmin. It contained the following paragraph. Garmin is proud to work with HERE maps, formerly known as NAVTEQ maps. HERE keeps our maps fresh, accurate and reliable by making 2.7 million changes to them each day. So Garmin can provide me with four free updates per year to the map for my Garmin GPS with the data coming from HERE but Ford hasn't updated the map for my car since August 2012 and when they do provide an update it will cost $200 per update. It appears that Ford considers map updates to be a profit center.
  4. I never got it to work. I complained to Ford, through the Ford representative on the forum, that their programming process did not work . The customer representative that contacted me eventually agreed to cover the programming cost if there was any. My dealer programmed the key at no cost to me other than I had to sit in their waiting room for two hours and caught a bad cold while sitting there. Avoiding the two hour wait in their waiting room was why I wanted to do it myself. The process worked fine in my 2010 Fusion Hybrid. One thing I learned while testing the new key was that only two remote starts can be done within the same hour. After two the car locks out remote start until the hour expires or you manually start the car yourself.
  5. No it doesn't. The 240 volt charger is 3.8 kW max. 3800 watts divided by 240 volts is 15.8 amps. I've measured it and it never gets that high.
  6. The 120 volt charger does not draw more that 14 amps. Otherwise it wouldn't work on a 15 amp circuit. You have to push the button to disconnect the charging plug. It's a mechanical latch.
  7. You should have been given a document to sign when you placed the order that has both of those numbers on it. The document lists the features that you are ordering. The document has a name but I can't remember what it is at the moment.
  8. Since my electric cost for March will be about 0.9 cents ($0.009) per kWh that would not appeal to me very much. I would much rather have a 100 kWh battery. :)
  9. I also ordered on January 21, 2013. The car was built April 1, 2013 and I drove it home on April 15.
  10. Charge the battery. Run in EV Later until you get on a freeway. When you are at 55 mph switch to EV Now (push the button twice) and see if it will go up to 70 mph. The engine should not come on although you may get a pop up in the left screen telling you to push OK to enable the engine. Ignore it. Do not floor it as that will force the engine on.
  11. I just pulled the A4 SD card from my car. Here are the contents of the version file. Region=NA SubRegion=NA_UC Version=A4 Map=20120813 August 13, 2012 is about 1 year and 8 months ago. Garmin updates my GPS four times a year for free, well not really, mine is old enough that I had to buy the lifetime update subscription. I found my house on the HERE online map. The address is correct. It is totally wrong on the out of date map in my very expensive car. :gaah: There is no excuse for the address being wrong. My house has been there since 1957.
  12. The hybrid display only appears when the HVB is depleted to 0. The Empower display shows a single power curve. When in EV Later the frame of the curve is blue to indicate the hybrid battery level. From the Owner's Manual. Empower — Empower adds an engine on/off threshold to the power demand gauge from Enlighten. The threshold is shown as a blue double outline. The gauge is designed to show you how close you are to the gasoline engine on/off threshold and how much power you are requesting by how much you press on the accelerator pedal.
  13. What is the build date for your Energi? All job 2 Energi's should be capable of EV at up to 85 mph. Job 2 production started in March 2013 I think.
  14. 36,000 miles is missing from the poll. I bought 7 years / 36,000 miles and will not exceed the mileage in 7 years.
  15. Only the friction brakes are used in reverse.
  16. Currently the asking price for a used model S is equal to or higher than the new price. And for all of that money it doesn't have active cruise control.
  17. There are openings at both sides of the battery cover in my car. They don't look big enough for a handbag to fall through, unless it's a very small one, but I've had to remove the cover to retrieve something that fell down there.
  18. The maps are not up to date in spite of the advertising by HERE (Navteq) about how great they are. The main highway near my house has a speed limit of 45 mph. The map in the car lists it as 30 mph.
  19. You are not going to get good mileage driving 70 mph in electric. 12 miles sounds about right. Use EV Later on the highway and save the EV for city driving.
  20. When you turn on EV Later they reserve 92% to 95% of the battery, not 100%. Watch the screen, it will tell you how much was reserved.
  21. If you keep waiting they sometimes get better. I have an XM portable radio that last had a subscription 6 years ago. I've received many offers of 6 months for $25 plus in the fine print a bunch of fees. Lately I've been getting 5 months for $20 offers again with fees in the fine print.
  22. It's not a rebate, it's a tax credit. To get the $7500 you must have a federal tax bill of $7500 or more.
  23. The MyFordMobile estimate does not include using battery power for heat or A/C. If the heat is on the estimate in the car will be lower. When it is in the 20s (F) my estimate gets cut in half.
  24. It does it after 18 months. I'll never get there since I take at least one long trip a year that uses a whole tank of gas.
  25. If Ford owned it for 15 months it's unlikely to be a buy back. That's before general production started on the Energi. Maybe used by a Ford Executive or a show car.
