  1. I can only answer for my 2013 but I would expect the 2015 to be the same. There are three 12 volt power outlets in the cabin. They all turn off approximately 70 minutes after the car is shut down. They shut down much sooner if the 12 volt battery is low on charge. You might be able to use the jump start points in the engine compartment. They are connected directly to the battery.
  2. The only other thought I have is do you ever park a tire on top of the cord to prevent theft of the charger?
  3. When you use the charger do you fully unwrap the cord from the charger and lay it out so there are no loops in the cord. If part of the cord is left wrapped on the charger it can get too hot which may damage the insulation. The entire length of the cord needs to be exposed to air so it doesn't overheat.
  4. It's an estimate based on how the car has previously been driven. It will quickly drop back into the usual range when you start driving in electric only. You will not be able to drive it 38 miles.
  5. I think that I read that the Focus battery is liquid cooled while the Energi battery is air cooled.
  6. In my second printing Owner's Manual it is on page 176 under the heading "Brake-Shift Interlock" which is in the Transmission section.
  7. I clicked the quote button at the bottom of your post to get the above quote. Manual cut and paste is done with control-C and control-V on a PC or with command-C and command-V on a Mac.
  8. The only feature, that I am aware of, that is available on a 2014 but not on a 2013 is a heated steering wheel. 2010 through 2012 were essentially the same car. 2013 started the current platform. Someone doesn't know what they are talking about.
  9. I have seen several reports on the Hybrid forum that people have downloaded and installed Sync 3.7. However when I check my Sync account it tells me that my car is up-to-date with version 3.6.2. Has anyone with a 2013 Energi with Navigation found Sync 3.7 available in their Sync account?
  10. If you have any other XM or Sirius radios and have the online music playback function check to see if the smartphone app works on your phone. I have two old XM radios with lifetime subscriptions that included free internet access. I discovered a couple of months ago that the SiriusXM app works on my Android phone most of the time although at the moment it is reporting that the service is not available.
  11. You will receive a recall notice letter from Ford when the dealers have been educated about the recall and the parts necessary to perform the recall are available. At this time parts are not available to repair 850,000 cars.
  12. Start by setting up a free account at http://www.fuelly.com
  13. If you are not having any problem with your car I recommend that you wait until you receive the letter in the mail. By that time the dealers will be familiar with the problem and parts will be available to install the fix. They will need some time to ramp up production of the replacement for the affected part.
  14. What is the ambient temperature? Battery capacity is dependent on the temperature. In the winter time my battery capacity drops to around 18 miles.
  15. Use EV Now for the 4 and 8 mile sections. Use EV later for the highway sections.
  16. The approach that worked for me was to sign up online using my computer. Then I waited for the 1st message in the car. Then I waited for the second message in the car, (24 hours). Do not go back online until after the second message is received in the car. Do not use the smartphone app at all until after the second confirmation is complete. Make sure the car is in a location that has a strong signal from the AT&T cell network when it is parked. If it comes down to it, disconnecting the negative lead of the 12 volt battery in the trunk is way easier than standing on your head under the dash to get to the fuses.
  17. The HVB can be fully recharged using regen but it takes a lot of elevation drop to do it. One person reported fully charging the HVB coming down from the top of Pike's Peak which is over 14,000 feet.
  18. The ICE will start if the fuel in the tank is 18 months or more old. The ICE will start if oil maintenance mode is triggered.
  19. If you are seeing the battery saver message then your 12 volt battery is low. Connect a 12 volt battery charger to the terminals under the hood and fully charge the 12 volt battery. Then experiment with the radio. My car has been sitting since 10 AM last Wednesday. I just hooked up the 12 volt battery charger and it indicated 11.5 volts and 27% charge. That is still enough to start the car because the only requirement is enough power to activate the contactor to connect the HVB to the car. That immediately starts charging the 12 volt battery.
  20. Push the start button without putting your foot on the brake to enter accessory mode. Or push the radio power button. It will shut off if the 12 volt battery gets too low.
  21. Note that you don't have to hold the switch until it fully releases or applies. Just a quick pull or push and release is all that is required.
  22. Yes that can also work. I had a much bigger Bosch battery stuffed in there for a while. But the same failure possibility exists. If the battery goes dead it is very likely the battery will be damaged. Starter batteries are designed to provide a large amount of current for up to 10 seconds and then immediately be recharged. The plates shed material when they are discharged to a low voltage. The material builds up at the bottom of the cell until it reaches the bottom of the plates and then shorts out the cell at which point the battery has to be replaced. An AGM battery does not have this problem.
  23. Yes, the computers and data radio are always on otherwise it wouldn't be able to answer a phone call from the MFM web site. When accessed via MFM I have measured a current spike in excess of 10 amps when the car wakes up due to an MFM request. It does not go back to sleep right away.
  24. You probably drive your car every day. Mine sometimes gets driven once a week. I was seeing voltages as low as 11.5. Anything below 11.8 triggers the battery saver.
