  2. The restraints control module is what fires the airbags and tensions the seat belts in the event of a collision. The Takata airbag recall applies to 2002 through 2008 vehicles. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/10/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-takata-air-bag-recall/index.htm
  3. Nothing has been damaged. Battery effiency drops as the outside temperature drops. The heater puts a heavy (5 kW) load on the battery. Hard acceleration, although fun, will reduce mileage. Smooth even braking will put energy back into the battery (regen). If you press hard enough to engage the service brakes instead of charging the battery the energy is converted to heat. Try a warm coat, heater off, and the seat heater turned up. Using GO times to preheat the car using power from the power company can help but that requires a 240 volt charger to be effective.
  4. My recollection is that remote start only works once or twice within the same hour. After that it is locked out for an hour.
  5. The voltages in the USA are 240 volts and 120 volts. The continuous mention of 220 volts and 110 volts have not been true for at least 75 years. The Energi requires a 240 volt 20 amp circuit. Continuous duty, which a charger is, require a derating to 80% which is 16 amps. That is exactly the maximum current an Energi can handle. That said, consider whether you might buy another car in the future, such as a Focus Electric, that requires more charging power. A bigger charger, such as a 32 amp or 40 amp, will charge the Energi just fine and allow upgrading to a car with higher charging requirements without having to redo your charging system. To get the full $4007 you must owe the IRS at least $4007 in taxes on your tax year 2014 tax return. You must be the first owner of the car to get the tax credit.
  6. The hybrid unique components are warranted for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
  7. Yes, 750,000 people will get this notice. Parts won't be available until September of 2015 for those that don't have an airbag light on.. It's a multi-manufacturer recall because the company that makes them supplies everybody and his brother. I wonder what the definition of hot and humid is? It gets hot and humid in Philadelphia, PA in August. Right now it is cold and dry.
  8. Go to the GO Times setting screen and tell us what the battery charge percentage is. A 13 mile estimmate could be caused by cold temperatures with heater useage and/or lead foot driving. It is an estimate based on how the car has previously been driven.
  9. Vent mode Push max A/C (forces temperature to LO) Push A/C (Turns off A/C) Push Recirculate. (Turns off recirculate) Set desired fan speed.
  10. It is a guess, and only a guess, based on how the car has been driven. That plus it is getting cold outside which reduces the battery efficiency. Turn on the heater and it will drop even further.
  11. This is covered in the Owner's Manual. If fuel freshness mode activates, adding 1 gallon of gasoline will cause it to abort and recalculate when it should next activate the mode. You should have hit oil freshness mode a long time ago. The car knows how to take care of itself. It is not necessary for you to worry about helping it out. Do not run the car out of gasoline. That is bad for the fuel pump and the emission control system.
  12. I use T-Mobile. The car can generate a WiFi signal for use by multiple devices in the car to talk to each other. The car can also be connected to your home network, while it is at home. That's of little use. However some idiot limited the wireless client key field to 10 characters in spite of the wireless specification mandating up to 63 characters for the wireless key. Basically hardware that is apparently used on the production line and then becomes useless in real life.
  13. It warns the car coming up behind you that there is an obstacle in the way. The only color that can be shown toward the back of a car is red except for the white back up lights.
  14. Did you set up the server in the car with the password of your choice. You can set up to connect to the car but no one has yet found (to my knowledge) a cell service dongle to allow the car to connect to the outside world.
  15. After you set a Go time from your computer or the app on a smartphone you must wait until the web site transmits it to the car. You can also set up Go times in the car on the MFT screen.
  16. I'm not sure what you mean by the "blue indicator light". Are you talking about the charge ring around the charging socket or the little battery in the left dash panel? It sounds like your battery is empty. How long have you charged it? With the supplied charger it takes between 5 and 7 hours to charge the battery.
  17. The heater is a 5kW resistance heater. That will put a huge dent in your battery. Turn the climate system off and watch the range number jump. I regularly drive 10 miles for a meeting. In the spring, summer, and fall I can easily make the round trip on battery. In the winter I can only make half of the trip on battery. The battery doesn't work very well in low temperatures. You need to use GO times to preheat the cabin before you leave. Then turn the climate off and use the seat heater and a warm coat and gloves. The alternative, if you want to be warm, is to burn gasoline.
  18. The obvious reason for no regen at all is if the battery is at 100% and a Tesla doesn't have any other way to provide back pressure except for the service brakes.
  19. There is a satellite radio demo period from November 19 through December 2. 60 channels are available. http://www.siriusxm.com/lp3?sxmlpId=listen33
  20. If you don't already know how to repair it, find someone that does or take it to an electrician. Make sure the repair is done so the result is waterproof.
  21. I just received my recall notice in the mail. It says that if my airbag warning indicator is not illuminated no action is required now. Ford will notify me when parts are available to replace the RCM. That is expected to be in the 3Q of 2015. :(
  22. The topic has been moved to "Batteries and Charging". Do you have a way to run the wire inside of the house? My panel is in the basement and there was a straight run to the garage along the unfinished basement ceiling. Also the garage has open stud walls so running the wire was not a problem. If your path is not open and accessible you may need to run it outside which will require running it in conduit.
  23. It depends on how you use the car. I've used about 19 gallons of gasoline so far in 2014. The vast majority of my driving is electric only. I only need gasoline when it is really cold out and the battery efficiency is cut in half or when I take a trip.
  24. The maximum the car can take is 16 amps at 240 volts. Anything larger is a waste of money unless you plan to add another electric vehicle in the future that could make use of higher current. I assume that you mean a NEMA 14-50 because NEMA L15 connectors are intended for 208 volt 3 phase circuits and NEMA 15 doesn't exist. A NEMA 14-50 outlet requires 6 gauge wire with 3 conductors and a ground. The breaker in the panel would be a 50 amp dual breaker. The maximum continuous current on a 50 amp circuit is 40 amps. It can all be priced at Lowe's. I'm not sure what the solar reference has to do with it. A grid tied PV solar system is hard wired at the main meter(s). Mine has three meters, solar production, power in from the power company, and power out to the power company. If you are talking about a battery backed solar system, that requires an automatic main switch so the solar power and power company power can't be connected to the house at the same time.
