Setting a GO time with the car plugged in will preheat the car from utility power. A 240 volt charger is required for this to work. The maximum power from the 120 volt charger is too low to handle the task.

2014 Dead Fusion Energi - defective battery?

Yes, they have equipment that can analyze a 12 volt battery to determine if it should be replaced. -
2014 Dead Fusion Energi - defective battery?
murphy replied to KMR107's topic in Batteries & Charging
If your wife has a short drive to work she may find it dead again when time to go home. It takes a long time, about 25 miles, to charge a 12 volt battery from dead. Also a 12 volt wet cell battery that is completely dead is usually damaged by being totally discharged. -
The maximum draw from the plug is 3.8 kW. It takes about 2 hours and 5 minutes to charge a fully depleted battery. Only about 5.5 kWh is available for EV mode. The rest is reserved for the hybrid mode, discharge protection, and full charge protection. The battery never goes to zero and it is never fully charged. Those end points are very hard on a battery so they stay away from them to prevent shortening the life of the battery. I have 10 kW of PV panels on my roof. I haven't paid an electric bill since they were installed in September of 2013.

Imagine an uncooked egg between your foot and the accelerator pedal. You don't want to break the egg. Put the coach bars in the left screen. They will tell you if you are driving the car correctly.

range of miles on full charge?
murphy replied to fusionenergiowner11's topic in Batteries & Charging
If you are driving at 65 mph on the battery, that will discharge the battery in a hurry. Use the battery on city streets until you reach the freeway on ramp and then switch to EV Later mode and operate in hybrid mode until you get off of the freeway. -
range of miles on full charge?
murphy replied to fusionenergiowner11's topic in Batteries & Charging
Battery efficiency drops significantly in cold weather. Using the heater (5 kW) makes it even worse. When it gets below freezing I get half the range that I get in the summer. If you have a 240 volt charger, preconditioning the cabin (GO Times) helps a little. You can also start out in EV Later mode until the car is fully warmed up and then switch to EV Now mode. -
Just in case. You can't do more than two remote starts within an hour unless you actually drive the car. After remote start times out twice it is locked out for an hour. I ran into that when I was testing my third IA key.

When the Energi is turned off the HVB is disconnected from the system. The only possible drain is to the 12 volt battery.

Reduced Electric Range after Service Visit
murphy replied to EnergiCCAATS's topic in Batteries & Charging
Reprogramming the PCM clears a lot of data values. I had to comletely reconfigure my left screen after the PCM was reprogrammed. The car would have had to be turned on to do the reprogramming. Was the heater on the whole time? That would put a dent in the battery. -
Ford Owner Advantage Rewards - must be used at dealer of record?
murphy replied to howardbc's topic in 2013 Fusion Energi
Each dealer, if he chooses to participate - many don't, has his own program. Anything earned at a dealer is only valid at that dealer. A dealer can drop out of the program any time they want to and if they do you lose whatever credits you had with them. It appears to be a Ford sponsored program that is funded out of the dealer's pocket. -
I had it done last week. It took them 4 hours. The service writer said they were having trouble clearing all of the error codes. I hope they got them all.

Ford dealers are not Ford. They are independent contractors that have an agreement or contract with Ford. My previous Ford dealer also sells new Chrysler products from the same lot. His Chrysler advertising is much more prominent on his web site than his Ford advertising. My current Ford dealer only sells Fords on his lot. However the owner has many dealerships in the area and they cover many of the brands of cars. Their loyalty is to wherever they can make the most money.

What range are you actually getting? In other words how far can you drive before the car switches to hybrid mode? The dash display is just an estimate based on several factors. Battery capacity goes down with lower temperatures. When it gets into the lower 20s where I live the battery capacity is cut in half. I drive to a meeting once a week that is 10 miles away. In the summer I can make the entire round trip on battery. In the winter I make half of the trip on battery and the rest in hybrid mode. Using GO times to preheat the car helps some but you need a 240 volt charger for GO times to be of much use.

Make him give you a signed written statement that he will not charge you for the rims if they don't fit. The 16" spare tire rim for the standard gas Fusion has zero clearance with the brake caliper. In other words the rim is against the caliper so tightly that the wheel can't turn. If he has found some other 16" steel wheel that does fit I would like to know all about it.

Yes. I had the "Restraints & Driver Assistance" System unavailable back in July. I took it in and they fixed it.

I had this "fix" done this morning. I expected it would take 15 to 30 minutes. It took 4 hours. Here is the description of what was done. Recall 14E02 Perform FSA 14E02 reprogram PCM and multiple powertrain relate modules and regen braking for hybrid. Half way through the service writer notified me that they were having trouble clearing all of the error codes. For the first time ever they washed my car. There has been a light snow falling all morning. :hysterical:

First road trip (and 500 miles of my standard commute data)
murphy replied to Doug0716's topic in Fuel Mileage
Sorry about that, I've obviously lost some brain cells. -
I got the letter yesterday also. It has been showing up on my VHRs for two months.

I may be wrong about the hands on the wheel alert. I was thinking of the alert that tells you it's time to take a coffee break and shows an icon of a cup of coffee in the left screen. -

You can turn the hands on steering wheel alert off. There are no sensors to detect your hands on the wheel. It is based on movement of the steering wheel. -
Might not be an easy fix. If they use every digit they are using a broadcasting system that has half the bandwidth of a US station. The radio may be incapable of properly decoding a signal that uses half of the bandwidth.
-
The car has no concept of DST. Do a GPS update of the clock. If DST is not in effect you are done. If DST is in effect bump the hour digit by an hour.

Maybe there is one installed at the donut shop. ;)
