Estimation Electricity Consumed to Charge the Car
murphy replied to larryh's topic in Batteries & Charging
For $100 you can buy a meter to measure the electricity to the outlet that you use for the car. 240 volt charging is more efficient than 120 volt charging but you would have to buy a 240 volt charger. The most I have ever seen the few times I have used the 120 volt charger is around 7 kWh. At 10 cents per kWh that is 70 cents.- 4 replies

The restraint system recall is not an airbag recall. It is a recall of the module that controls all of the restraints including seat belts. You should have received a letter from Ford last fall about this recall. Parts are not expected to be available till sometime this fall. The letters for the other two recalls, steering bolt and door handles, have not been sent out yet. According to the TV news they don't expect to have the VINs involved in the airbag recall loaded into the website for at least another week.

Navigation -- Car's location not accurate
murphy replied to mikenmar's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
Disconnecting the negative lead of the 12 volt battery should make everything restart. Or you could pull the fuse for the GPS and verify it's not blown. I don't know about a C-Max but disconnecting the battery in a Fusion is a lot easier than getting to the fuse panel. -

Your car was probably reset when it was in for service. Resend the message to the car and then accept it in the car. In this instance accepting a second message in the car will probably not be necessary. Usually happens any time service loads new firmware in to a module in the car.

New Energi - No range displayed on battery icon?
murphy replied to expresspotato's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Does the charge screen in the center console show the battery charge level? Push the icon to the left of the gear icon at the bottom of the screen. -
Can I use Value Charge profiles to partially charge my Fusion?
murphy replied to Panos's topic in Batteries & Charging
There is only one high voltage battery. Your salesman wasn't paying attention in class. -
What is the output current rating on the power adapter (charger) that came with the iPhone? A standard USB port supplies a maximum of 0.5 amps at 5 volts. Some recent computers have at least one USB port that is designed to supply considerably more than 0.5 amp. Plug the charger that came with the iPhone into the 110 volt AC outlet in the back seat. That can handle up to 150 watts.

Sounds like you misread the notice like I did. All job 1 cars are included. All job 2 cars through May 31, 2013 are also included. -

Check your ford owner account. The recall notice is already in my account. -
I last bought gas in June of 2014. I still have 1/3 of a tank left. :happy feet:

My longest regular trip is 10 miles. From May through September my ICE doesn't run at all.

Close the cap the instant you remove the charging plug from the socket. Don't wait until after the plug has been put away. If something diverts your attention it will be left open.

Problems with Intelligent door locks
murphy replied to klpeake's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Hmmm. My car was two years old on April 15. Both fobs have the original batteries. No problems so far. I very seldom use the buttons on the fob so the only time it transmits is when it receives a request from the car. -
Note that the video is a simulation (photoshop for movies) of how they think it should work. The car is an early Tesla that doesn't have the sensor hardware required for autopilot let alone autonomous driving.

Expecting a $4K Federal Rebate on Your FFE? Sorry!
murphy replied to musicmafia's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Yes, it is not a function of how much you have to pay with your return on April 15. Your total tax bill must be at least $4001.00 to get the full credit. Your tax bill is calculated based on how much taxable income you had. The amount that was withheld from your salary is just a prepayment against that tax bill. The tax, based on your income, is on line 44 of form 1040. That number must be at least $4001.00 to get the full tax credit. The lines that follow line 44 detail other possible credits. Line 54 is where the credit for the car is entered coming from form 8936. -
A maximum of two remote starts is permitted within the same hour. After two have been tried an hour has to elapse before the car will accept another one. Or if the car is started manually that also will reset the timer. A red blink on the keyfob means the request was rejected. If the request is accepted the keyfob will blink green.

The tax calculations need to be done well before the end of the year. I cashed a lot of old Savings Bonds to raise my taxable income so the tax credit could offset the taxes due on the Savings Bond interest. -
In my experience the text message alert system is very flaky. I've received an alert that charging has started and never received the charging complete alert. I've received the charging complete alert three times in a row. I've received the charging complete alert as much as 4 hours late. The car has to notify the website. If it has a weak cell signal that can be delayed. The web site then has to process the alert and create a text message and send it. My garage has steel doors and is covered with stucco. Stucco is installed on a wire mesh. The only way for the cell signal to get into my garage is through the windows.
