Did anyone else notice the OEM tires for the Energi are changing?
murphy replied to Fat Fusion's topic in Tires & Wheels
The jack points are indicated by arrow heads (triangle) on the rocker panel. A U shaped lift point is required that can lift the car without crushing the edge of the weld seam. -

It's been popping up on my 2013 since day 1. -

2015 Energi Titanium ENGINE BLEW AT 10K miles

If you do your own oil change enter the details into your Ford Owner account on the day you do the oil change. -
What's your favorite PHEV-aware fuel mileage app?
murphy replied to flyingcheesehead's topic in General Discussion
I measure the wall electric power used to charge the car, convert it to egallons and add it to the real gallons. Divide the kWh used to charge the car by 33.7 to get egallons. In other words there are 33.7 kWh in a gallon of gasoline. There is some controversy about what this number should be. The window sticker for my 2013 Energi rounds it to 34. -
The HVB is probably completely discharged. When the HVB gets to 0% the car switches to hybrid mode and the indicator on the left display is of the hybrid mode battery portion (there is only one HVB). Press the leaf symbol at the bottom of the center screen and then press settings if it is not already selected. On the right side of the display is the charge % for the HVB. Tell the dealer that you want the HVB fully charged before you test drive it again. If the dealer is not electric certified, and thus does not have a level 2 charger installed, the 120 volt charger that comes with the car will have to be used. It is located under the pull up cover in the trunk. There should also be an air compressor with a can of tire repair "goo" since the car does not have a spare tire. It will take between 5 and 7 hours to fully charge the battery using the 120 volt charger.
-
If you read the left screen when you select EV Later it says that 95% is being preserved. And it is correct that every time the car is started EV Later has to be selected again. If there are many stops in a trip the HVB will gradually be depleted. The center screen is the only place to see the HVB SOC in %. It's on the screen where GO times are entered.

Does the center screen still show the battery SOC in %? -
2015 Energi Titanium ENGINE BLEW AT 10K miles
murphy replied to Wishboneusmc@gmail.com's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I change my own oil now. I had a Ford dealer "technician" damage my 2010 Fusion Hybrid because he didn't know what he was doing. Fortunately just the plastic parts on top of the engine and the hood liner had to be replaced. -
2015 Energi Titanium ENGINE BLEW AT 10K miles
murphy replied to Wishboneusmc@gmail.com's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Yes and no. It doesn't have a separate lamp but it does have a telltale. The bottom left column of page 8 in the Owner's manual for my 2013 Energi shows the Engine Oil telltale. It's described on page 81. -
This is the one that I use for 120 volts, It measures to .01 amperes. http://www.ekmmetering.com/120-volt-basic-pass-through-kwh-meter-2-wire-50a-60hz-ekm-15ids.html If you get it also order the mounting rail. I have it mounted on a square metal electrical box with a plug and a receptacle connected to it. I also have the 240 volt version permanently mounted in my garage connected to my L2 EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment).
-
Check the wiring of the receptacle. I'm betting that it was wired using the push-in slots instead of wrapping the wire around the screw. They work fine for table lamps but not so well for maximum continuous loads.
-
Did you check the center screen that displays the power flow for a reason?
-
Very strange. I created one in the car and it showed up on MFM.
-
Same question, were they gone from MFM and the car or just from MFM?
-
I created a GO time on MFM and then went to the car. The GO time was there. I deleted the GO time in the car. I created a new and different GO time in the car. I went back to MFM and the new GO time is there and the other one is gone. So it's working fine for me.

I'm missing 4 side mounted ultrasonic sensors, the front facing radar, the interval adjusting knob on the speed control stalk (I like the switches on the Energi steering wheel much more), the forward facing camera, and the wiring harness to support the hardware. Someone estimated it would cost about $20,000 to $30,000 to take the car apart to replace the harnesses, fenders, lower grille, and windshield. The only way to get the features is to trade up, which I considered, but they dropped the silver color. I've had black, red, green, and gray cars in the past and I now like silver. My original thought was that the Tesla would only be until Ford stepped up to the plate with a reasonable BEV. Tesla is open to sharing the supercharger network if the same rules are followed with respect to construction and maintenance of the network. Sadly there have been no rumors that Ford has yet learned that gasoline powered cars are going to be replaced in the future. Unfortunately it will take too long for me to see it.

I got the Energi in April 2013. I got the Tesla in September 2014. The Energi worked fine for electric driving until winter arrived and reduced the 21 mile range to 11 miles. I looked at the Focus electric but it was missing too many of the features that are in the Energi and no local dealer had one available for me to look at. I heard about the Tesla in January 2014 and ordered it in May 2014. The Energi has more creature comfort features than the Tesla. The big omission for an old guy like me is the grab handles. Mine also does not have adaptive cruise control (TACC as they call it). In a continuation of my lifelong battle with Murphy's Law if my Tesla had been built about two weeks later it would have had TACC. I have not taken a long trip in the Energi since I got the Tesla. I've been to Charlottesville, VA (270 miles) three times in the Tesla. One is transportation and the other is a toy. I haven't decided yet which is which.

I have had my car since April 2013 and the only time it has been in Auto is when it switches to Auto at start up and I fail to notice it. I always run in EV Now unless I am leaving on a trip or trying to use up the 15 month old gasoline in the tank in EV Later mode. My normal trips do not exceed 11 miles in length so I drive the car in electric only. That achieves the best possible gas mileage and I pay $0.006 per kWh of electricity because of the 10 kW of PV solar panels on my roof.
-
In the car, on the MFM web site, or both? I didn't have any set so I can't help there.
-
The battery is rated at 7.6 kWh. Mine charges in 2:05 hours at 240 volts so the charge power has to be 3.8 kW. It is not a linear charge. It tapers off as it nears the end of charge.
-
240 volt charging is slightly more efficient than 120 volt charging.
-
You need a 50 amp line (6 gauge wire) and a 50 amp breaker. In the USA a breaker may not be continuously loaded to more than 80% of the breaker rating.

Recover the 5 digit security code
murphy replied to FusionNAZ's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Are the digits displayed in the correct order in a 2014? They are displayed in reverse order in my 2013.
