  1. I used a double pole double throw 12 volt relay that plugs into an octal socket. The relay coil is connected to the driver's wiper motor power feed, through an inline fuse, which is hot anytime the car in in ON mode. I cut the wire to the parking lamp and wired both ends so that when the relay is not energized the connection is made between the wire ends. Thus the lights work the same as they always did when the ignition is off. When the ignition is on, and the relay is energized, it provides 12 volts to the wire that comes from the parking lamp. This does result in DTC error messages stating that the parking light circuit is shorted to 12 volts. The error messages do not illuminate any telltales on the instrument panel. I have a hand drawn schematic somewhere. When I find it I'll scan it and attach to this post.
  2. The original plan for the superchargers was to have solar panels at every site. They also need batteries so they work at night. That's not likely to happen until the Gigafactory is in full operation.
  3. The credit phases out after a manufacturer sells 200,000 cars in the USA. Car sold to other countries are not included in the count. And it's a credit, not a rebate. You must owe the IRS at least $7500 in taxes to get the full tax credit. It also can't be carried forward to later years.
  4. I don't know about the 2016 but my 2013 is 20,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first. The manual also covers the hybrid which is 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Verify you are reading the Energi section and not the hybrid section.
  5. The 200,000 vehicles have to be delivered in the USA. Those sent to other countries don't count in the total.
  6. Set up MFM with the car using the website. It has been a long time but you will have to specify the VIN and the color at least in addition to a user ID (email address) and a password. http://www,myfordmobile.com Only after it is working properly with the website then download and install it on the smartphone. You need the user ID and password for the website and it will ask you to create a 4 digit numeric pin to make connecting from the smartphone easier. On Android it is "MyFord Mobile".
  7. The brake lights don't come on in a manual shift car when downshifting to slow down either.
  8. I always drive in L. I also have a Tesla and the accelerator pedal response is very similar. If you are starting out with a full battery do not shift into L until some of the charge has been used from the battery. If the battery is full there is no place for regen to go so it will instead spool up the ICE to provide the back pressure. I start out in D and shift to L after I pass the first traffic light.
  9. Ford specifies a fixed time and payment for warranty work. If they have never done this one before it will take longer than the time specification. i.e. they lose money on the repair. The natural tendency is to put if off until they don't have a backlog of work to do at their normal labor rate.
  10. I find that hard to believe since DRLs are required in Canada. They are also enabled in fleet cars. There has to be a way to do it.
  11. Do you have a 12 volt battery charger? You can open the driver's door with the metal key that is inside of the fob. The rear part of the driver's door handle slides off to reveal a slot for the key. Then you can open the hood. There are battery jump terminals under the hood directly in front of the driver's seat. The positive (+) terminal has a red flexible cover over it. The negative terminal is directly behind the positive terminal and is a bolt sticking up from the shock tower.
  12. Go to the Forscan web site and register for their forum. It took a day for my approval. Connect to the car with Forscan and click the bottom left icon (about??). This must be done with the computer that you will use. A hardware ID will be displayed. Click the button to copy it to the clipboard. Save it in a txt file. Log into the forum and read this thread. http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=836 It describes how to get the free key and to insert the key into the software. I have no idea if this is possible with the android version. I can't remember the rest, I'll have to set it up again to get the rest of the steps. Okay, here is the rest. Once the computer is connected to the device and the device is connected to the car. Click on the Configuration and Programming icon (looks like a square computer chip) There will be four items displayed SOBDMC Module configuration (AS BUILT format) PAM Module configuration (AS BUILT format) BdyCM Module configuration (AS BUILT format) BdyCM Module configuration Click on the last one Click the "Run service procedure" icon at the bottom of the screen It will read a lot of data and then display two items Daytime running lights Disabled Electrical system delay time 1 second Select Daytime running lights Click "Edit selected" at the bottom of the page Select Halogen Headlamps and click the check mark box Click "Write" at the bottom of the page Click the "Stop service procedure" button at the bottom of the page That is all.
  13. Almost three years ago my dealer refused to enable my DRLs citing a lack of resources. Today I turned them on myself. Tools used: Laptop Windows 7 computer A high quality OBD II scanner (OBDLink MX - bluetooth version) Forscan program version 2.3.0 Free 2 month license key for Forscan special features I had previously used a relay to activate the front parking lamps anytime the car was on. They are not very bright and didn't really do the job. The circuit is still there but I removed the fuse. :happy feet:
  14. I got the A5 update from eBay for $49.00. It worked fine but the map was no different in my area than the A4 version that came with the car.
  15. Received a letter today with just a post office box in Orem, UT for the return address. It's an advertisement for the A7 map update for $149.00. Purchase by 5/13/16 and the shipping is free.
  16. Is MFM updating the car data on the website? Uninstall the app and then download and reinstall the app. I have to do that almost every time the dealer takes care of a recall on my car.
  17. The battery is warranted for 8 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. I think it is even higher in California.
  18. If you are right handed. Unplug the car with your right hand. Transfer the plug to your left hand. Close the door with your right hand. Put the plug away. Never put the plug away before closing the door because something will interrupt you and the door will stay open.
  19. AT&T has been converting 2G sites for a long time. There used to be two 2G sites near my home, now there is only one. Neither of them were very strong in my garage which is covered with stucco. Stucco is installed on a wire mesh so my garage is a very low signal area. They are not going to turn all of the 2G sites off on 12/31/16. They are going to turn the last one off on 12/31/16.
  20. I didn't use my Energi yesterday morning so it wasn't plugged in but the GO time was still in effect. After seeing your report I checked MFM this morning and the GO time is gone.
  21. At the lower right corner is a "view all" button. You have to use a computer on the my ford mobile web site. http://www.myfordmobile.com
  22. Lifting the negative lead off of the 12 volt battery will achieve the same result and is much easier to do since it doesn't require standing on your head to see the fuse panel.
  23. Its buried in the menus of the MFT screen. The GO times disappearing is likely a problem with the website. My GO time of long standing was gone on Wednesday morning.
