Secret Ford Website -- Ultimate VIN Lookup
murphy replied to ClaveMan's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
No, I said the information is not valid until about two days after the car is built. The car will always be called a Transit Connect because the Fusion is not sold in Europe. -
Secret Ford Website -- Ultimate VIN Lookup

It's only gives valid information a few days after the car has been built. It is a European web site. -
2016 Chevy Volt vs Ford Fusion Energi - My comparison
murphy replied to geohec's topic in Competing Products
Yes, the Energi and the Hybrid both have this capability. -
You should be able to set up a schedule in the car whether or not MFM is working.
-
Access it using a computer on the web site. If that works, delete the app from your phone and then re-install it. I didn't do anything after the update to get the access to work. The data transfer problem that everyone had apparently was a problem with the web site and is now fixed. A couple of people reported that the new modem was installed but they neglected to plug it in.

This is the Fusion Energi forum and your data says that you have a 2013 Fusion Energi Titanium. I failed mind reading. ;)

Mine is also now correct on the web site. They finally quit blaming it on the car and got to work fixing the web site. It's also correct on Android and iOS.

Working for me via my computer to the web site and my Android phone.

MyFordMobile stuck at 10 miles fully charged
murphy replied to tripper's topic in Batteries & Charging
Cara, With all due respect it is time that Ford recognized that this problem is common to EVERY car that has had the TCU (Telematics Control Unit) [modem] upgraded. Nothing else changed in the car. The communication between the car and the web site is completely screwed up. Show them this picture of my car charging yesterday. I would be ecstatic if my battery would move the car 380 miles. -
Wifi Modem replacement requires trim replacement too?
murphy replied to Neil's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
There is a WiFi radio integrated with Sync. That is behind the center screen which is half way between the two A pillars. Are you talking to an actual certified mechanic or a service writer that doesn't have a clue how the car is put together? -
What is your ambient temperature? With temperatures around freezing here I typically get about half of the miles I get in the summer, especially if the heat is turned on.

murphy replied to Neil's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
What? The TCU (Telematics Control Unit) [modem] is no where near either A pillar. It's under the center of the package shelf, behind the rear seats, near the center speaker. It has nothing whatever to do with WiFi. It's a data transceiver that operates on the AT&T cell phone network. -
Possibly the receptacles were wired using the push in method instead of wrapping the wire around the screws. The push in slots are fine for table lamps but not for continuous maximum current draw.

MyFordMobile stuck at 10 miles fully charged
murphy replied to tripper's topic in Batteries & Charging
Here is an interesting picture of my car charging this morning. Note that the battery is almost empty and charging. The mileage overlay estimate says 19 miles. The overall battery estimate says 380 miles. If only that were true. -

Okay so the problem is with 2013 through 2015 cars at least. -

Does a 2015 have the EV miles estimation overlaid on the battery graphic in the car? -
Did you use the word radio? The radios are behind the console screen. It's called a TCU (Telematics Control Unit).
-
According to the Wiring Diagram manual it is under the rear deck near the center speaker. It is above the metal so the rear deck covering probably has to be removed.

MyFordMobile stuck at 10 miles fully charged
murphy replied to tripper's topic in Batteries & Charging
See my previous post. I now believe that it has happened to everyone that had a modem upgrade. Very likely related to the fact that cars later than 2013 do not have the mileage estimation overlaid on the battery graphic. The new modem probably triggered a path through the MFM code that doesn't try to read it from the car. -

Common problem for everyone. I have a case open to have it investigated. The 10 miles was the reading when the old modem was removed. In my case it is 19 miles. -
The only things I am aware of happening when the 12 volt battery is disconnected is the engine has to relearn its emission parameters and some of the settings in the dash board menus need to be fixed if they were changed from the defaults. I disconnected mine for a 1/2 hour several days ago while troubleshooting a different problem. That had no affect on MFM operation. Is the fuse panel in a 2017 up high on the left side of the drivers foot well? That's where it is in the 2013 and I basically have to stand on my head in the driver foot well to even see it. That is why I suggested disconnecting the 12 volt battery. If they finally came to their senses and made the panel easily accessible in a 2017 then that is preferable. Loss of the display of the ESN sounds like either a power to the modem problem or a data transmission problem from the modem to the computer. Have you ever seen a message on the center screen to the effect of it is shutting down to protect the battery? Or the other lie that the center screen is undergoing scheduled maintenance? Scheduled maintenance is a reboot because the computer has determined that something has gone wrong. My car was delivered with a 2G modem. AT&T 2G service ends on December 31, 2016. Ford graciously upgraded my modem to a 3G modem last month. Data communication between my car and Ford is corrupted since the installation of the new modem. I have an open case to have it investigated. Maybe your problems are an indication that the problem is bigger than I thought.

Fuses don't trip, they melt. Once they melt they must be replaced. All removing and replacing the fuse does is cut power to the modem. It's much easier to achieve by disconnecting the negative lead of the 12 volt battery. How strong is the AT&T cell phone signal where your car is parked? The modem must maintain a connection to the AT&T network for MFM to work. My connection is marginal in my garage. I have a 2013. Does the 2017 provide a signal strength indicator for the modem? Does the car sit for long periods without being driven? That allows the 12 volt battery to get low and the car goes into a sleep mode where it turns off everything possible in an attempt to prevent draining the 12 volt battery. Being plugged in will not help this problem. The 12 volt battery is only charged at the end of charging the HVB. When my car is sitting unused for a while I connect a 12 volt battery charger to the jumper terminals under the hood. Do not connect to the battery directly. The battery is in an enclosed space and there might be hydrogen in there. A spark + hydrogen = boom. Re-registration with MFM should not be necessary. I have encountered instances where I had to delete the app from my cellphone and re-download it. I have never encountered a problem using MFM on the web site.

Those are missing in the iOS and Android apps. They are there on the MFM web site.
