FordIVTteam only handles problems related to In Vehicle Technology. The rep that handled everything else left the forum about a year ago.

The only problem I have had with the charge port is light segment two burned out. The whole port was replaced under warranty. Has the door ever been closed improperly? That can damage the door. The proper way to close the door is by pushing on the indented area of the door. Manually rotating the door can cause damage.

Car charges halfway and shows a fault on 120V
murphy replied to river-wear's topic in Batteries & Charging
Is that outlet a direct run from the panel? No other outlets are allowed on a charging circuit. Check the outlet wiring at the outlet and at the circuit breaker in the panel. Verify that the wires at the outlet are connected to the screws and NOT connected to the push-in slots. If that is all okay a severe drop in voltage when a large appliance, like an air conditioner compressor, turns on can make an EVSE abort due to unstable power. That could mean a loose connection anywhere between the pole and the panel. A recording voltmeter at the panel is needed to test for that problem. -
What does MFM say is the kWh used for a trip that drains the battery from 100% to 0% with no engine usage? It is not possible that turning off the cabin heat had no effect. The cabin heater is a resistance heater that is rated at 5 kW. When turned on it puts a huge load on the battery. Put the climate gauge on the left display and verify that the climate bar does not move at all when the heat is turned off. I'm now thinking that the heater isn't turning off.

1. No, that only applied to Ni-Cd batteries. Li-Ion does not have a memory. 2. No, when the HVB reaches 100% it then starts charging the 12 volt battery if it needs it. 3. If that was required Ford would have given us a way to automatically stop at a lower SOC level. It is my belief that when charged to 100% the battery is no where near its actual full capacity. 4. Are you using cabin heat? A cold battery (anything below about 65° F is a cold battery) is less efficient. Use of cabin heat will significantly reduce the range. Mine drops to 10 miles when it is cold. 5. Don't know, the oldest battery is approaching 4 years old. 6. The battery is supposed to last for the life of the car. 7. Wait for warm weather, 24 hours a day.

I think they expected people to get a USB cell network adapter to provide in car WiFi. To my knowledge no one ever found a USB adapter that worked. It will be interesting to see if there are any changes given this announcement. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2017/01/27/ford-vehicle-owners-upgrade-2010-2016-vehicles-with-connectivity-features.html

No. It's was designed to use either WiFi or a USB cell phone service adapter to provide WiFi in the car for the passengers. The car could be tethered to a cell phone via WiFi to provide WiFi for the passengers (kids) devices during a trip.

I just discovered that with the new modem they fixed the WiFi password problem that limited the length to 10 characters. It will now accept up to 63 characters which is the standard. There is still no use for it since it only works in my garage which has its own WiFi access point.

Maybe related to the Microsoft logo in front of the shift lever?

I turned them off. The idea is that if you drive correctly more and more leaves will appear. If you floor it leaves will fall off the branches and disappear. I think it is designed for those that are not technically inclined to have a graphic way to see how their driving compares with a desired standard.

Not quite the test we wanted since you used the engine. The test requested was for electric only (EV Now) mode. 34.1 miles of the 79.1 mile trip were electric only miles. That includes energy recovered by regen. You got 5.4kWh from the battery. There is nothing wrong with the battery. Electric only 5.4 Hybrid mode reserve 1.5 Battery protection 0.7 Total 7.6

The website works fine for me.

The battery is in the trunk and it gets air from the cabin through a vent located at the center of the package shelf. If it has been thoroughly warmed up it should stay warm if the cabin is warm. The problem is that using the heater to keep the cabin warm reduces the range.

Using the 120 volt EVSE that comes with the car provides a maximum of 120 x 12 = 1440 watts. The resistive heating element in the car is rated at 5 kW. I expect that it will either draw power from the battery or will be of not much use heating the car. I use a 240 volt EVSE providing the maximum of 16 amps the car can handle. 240 x 16 = 3840 watts. That does warm the car up but it takes 30 minutes to do it. On a 70° day with the battery exposed to that temperature long enough for the whole battery to be at 70° you should get the rated range. Neither heat or air conditioning should be needed. If you take it up to 65 mph on electric you will not get the rated range. My longest regular trip is 10.5 miles away. When it is over 70° I can easily make the 21 mile round trip on electric only. The trip is done on city streets where most of the trip is at 35 mph. Most dealers, even the electric certified ones, have no idea how the car works.

What is the temperature now in Georgia? It's 29° F in SE PA as I type this. You will not get the rated range if the temperature is below 65°. Turning on the heater puts a 5 kW load on the battery. That will put a dent in the available range. I typically get 10-11 miles this time of the year running on battery only. I have been as high as 26 miles in the summertime.

22 mile range is on a flat road with the temperature at 70 degrees and no heat or air conditioning. The lower the temperature goes the less efficient the battery becomes. Drive all electric on local roads. Use EV Later when above 45 to 50 mph. The drag caused by pushing air out of the way increases either with the square or the cube (I forget which) of the speed. Also cold air has more drag than warm air. Use the seat heater, the steering wheel heater, and a warm jacket instead of the heater while running all electric. 99% of the time my engine is not used from spring through fall. It gets a lot of use during the winter.

According to the Wiring Diagram book it is on the package shelf directly behind the center speaker. I assume the package shelf cover has to be removed to get access to it.

On Vacation 30 days and Car is Completely Dark
murphy replied to pluggedin's topic in Batteries & Charging
My jumper battery and cable is in the glove compartment. It's a 12 volt 7AH gel cell usually used in an UPS. I've never needed to use it but I do remember to check its charge level periodically. -
What do you get on the MFM website? There have been several cases of the time zone being set incorrectly there.

Atlantic Standard time and Eastern Standard time are two different time zones that are one hour apart. Which one do you want? http://www.timetemperature.com/tzus/time_zone.shtml

Frigid weather wreaking havoc on my Batteries!!!!

You can modulate the regen level with the accelerator pedal when in L mode. Don't just take your foot completely off of the pedal. -
I mistakenly thought, when I bought my 2013, that by 2017 Ford would have something for me. Their loss. My other car is a Tesla.
