  1. If the car is off, the HVB is completely disconnected from the car. 12 volts is required to reconnect it, If the 12 volt battery has no shorted cells the DC to DC converter will provide 12 volts as long as the car is on. If the electric drive portion of the HVB gets depleted to 0, then the car switches to hybrid mode and the engine keeps the hybrid portion of the HVB charged to 50%. Do you have access to a 12 volt 7 AH gel cell battery? They are common in UPSs (Uninterruptable Power Supplies). I keep one in my glove compartment along with a 12 gauge wire jumper cable. Has the battery been dead in the past? When a wet cell lead acid battery is completely discharged material flakes off of the plates and collects at the bottom of the cells. If the pile of junk gets high enough to reach the bottom of the plates it will short out the cell. Do you have a volt meter? Start the car and measure the voltage at the battery terminals in the trunk. If it is 13 volts or higher the car should stay running for the drive. Take another driver along, since you do not want to turn it off when you arrive at the dealer. The engine is started by the HVB. Since you are going 30 miles, I would put the car in EV Later mode to force running on the engine (hybrid mode).
  2. I see you are in Maryland. You will not be able to successfully pre-heat the car using GO times with a 120 volt EVSE (Electric Vehicle Service Equipment). The charger is built into the car. 120 volts times 12 amps = 1440 watts. 240 volts times 16 amps = 3840 watts. With the 120 volt EVSE it takes over 5 hours to charge the battery. That EVSE should be under the cover in the trunk. With a 240 volt EVSE it takes slightly over 2 hours to charge the battery. Have an electrician run a 240 volt 50 ampere line to your garage. That means you are future proofed for a future car that can charge at up to 40 amps. I recommend this because I originally installed 14 gauge wire for a 120 volt 15 amp dedicated circuit. Then I ripped that out and installed 12 gauge wire for a 240 volt 20 amp circuit. Finally I ripped that out and installed 6 gauge wire for a 240 volt 50 amp circuit when I got a second, full electric, car. It's more expensive doing it right the first time but not as expensive as doing the same job three times.
  3. There is no programming in the fob. It has a permanently assigned serial number that the car matches to the entries in its key memory. That sounds to me like a weak fob battery or one that has finger prints on the battery surface and is corroding. You didn't mention trying the dead fob battery procedure. There is a slot in the left front corner of the console. Place the fob in the slot with the key ring up and the buttons facing the rear of the car. That will allow the car to start even if there is no battery in the fob. Another possibility: Do not put the fob and your cellphone in the same pocket. The transmitter in the cellphone will block the receiver in the fob and it may not be able to hear the car.
  4. I assumed you were in the loop. Report_2017_08_23_09_03_46.pdf You need to find a volunteer that has a Hybrid to test the current test version of the program. I think it would be very close. The large battery in the Energi complicates the display. Preferably someone that knows how to move files into and out of an Android phone and install an app that doesn't come from the approved source.
  5. There is a satellite radio demo period from August 23 to September 5. 100 channels are available. http://www.siriusxm.com/sxmlp217?sxmlpId=listen1
  6. Jan, Here are some screen shots after my trip this morning. You can see the reports for the three segments of the trip here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nzjt4176rs0jj4y/AACYQjFEt-b69f2mAO2zL8ofa?dl=0 Two segments were electric only and one segment used the engine. murphy
  7. Torque can accurately display the gas tank level in percent so there has to be a PID. What it is I don't know. The version that I have is hard coded to work for a Ford and displays as a "Mondeo H". I don't know if he can find a way to put it into the general release. There is apparently a problem reading the car's VIN. I don't know why since other programs can do it. I haven't looked at HR yet. I might get a chance tomorrow between a meeting in the morning and the eclipse in the afternoon. It will go to 80% where I am in south eastern PA. Are you aware of the following? I wonder if they work for the Mondeo. Engineering Test Mode Hold the left OK button and start the car. Watch the upper left corner of the left display for the letters ET to appear in yellow. After the letters appear release the OK button. Use the down arrow to scroll through the screens. Press and hold the OK button or shut the car off to exit engineering test mode. My Ford Touch Engineering Test Mode Press and hold the Eject button and the >>| button.
  8. Ok Jan, I now have a custom hard coded version that appears to work with my car to some degree. What I think is the gas tank reading is at zero.
  9. I updated the OBDLink MX firmware to the latest version, 4.3.2. The units are properly set. Both devices indicate they are connected to the car properly but no data is displayed. OBDLink and Torque connect to the car and display data properly.
  10. The good news: The program connected to the car with my Samsung Galaxy S6 and my Motorola XOOM tablet. The bad news: No data was displayed in either case. I noticed that in spite of setting it to Ā° F, miles, and gallons it wanted to show me L/100. It appears that a Mondeo and a Fusion are not exactly the same.
  11. I note that it specifies an OBDLink LX. I have an OBDLink MX which appears to be more capable than the LX based on this comment on the LX website. Consider purchasing MX if you need access to the proprietary Ford & GM vehicle networks (MS-CAN and SW-CAN) in addition to the standard OBD-II protocols. I'm retired and my longest regular trip is 10.5 miles. I get my electricity from 10 kW of PV solar panels most of the year so the trips are free. I'll see if it works in my 2013 Fusion Energi Titanium vehicle.
  12. 1. My engine only runs in the winter. Can it be configured to ignore all engine parameters? 2. Does it support USA units and maps?
  13. This is not the first time an OBD II scanner has caused problems on the buss.. Are you aware that it must be disconnected to run a Vehicle Health Report?
  14. There have been no indications of any changes to the battery design since it was introduced in 2013. Mine charges in 2 hours at 240 volts.
  15. 1. 2 years or 20,000 miles is what Ford says. Ignore anyone that is trying to make money by needlessly changing oil every 3000 miles. My car was new in April 2013. The oil has been changed twice. I am a low mileage driver, about 2000 miles per year on this car. I have two cars. The majority of the miles have been electric only. The car will notify you when the oil reaches 5%. 2. Pull the filter. If it's dirty, change it. If it isn't dirty, "don't fix it if it ain't broke" applies. 3. 21 miles is the nominal value for the battery. Heat or air conditioning reduces that value. For me temperatures below freezing cut it in half. It takes extra energy to climb a hill, You get some of it back via regen going down a hill. The range is an estimation. There is no known way to measure the energy in a battery.
  16. The Energi has a pressurized fuel system. Fuel doesn't go bad like it would in a regular unpressurized fuel system. The Energi monitors the use and addition of fuel. If fuel has been in the tank, without any additions, for 18 months the car enters a mode that forces the use of fuel only until the tank is down to about 1/8. I last put fuel in mine on April 8, and that was just $5.00 worth.
  17. If it still has the 2G modem it will not work since AT&T turned off their 2G system 12/31/2016. Check your my Ford account to see if the recall to replace the 2G modem with a 3G modem is still there. Any dealer can look it up for you. There should not be a charge for the replacement. I am not aware of a way to clear the radio station presets. It really isn't needed. Tune in the station you want on the first preset. Press and hold the preset button and the current station will replace whatever was there.
  18. Low on brake fluid? Master cylinder failure? Air in the brake lines, but it is hard to believe that both systems would have air in them.
  19. Sounds like a power brake failure. Did you try as much force as you could muster on the brake pedal? They are supposed to still work in the absence of power assist. The same is true for the steering.
  20. Could have been a piece of dirt or some water in the fuel injector.
  21. Try a different outlet. Have an electrician check the problem outlet for loose wires at the outlet and at the circuit breaker. Is this a direct feed outlet, that is is it the only outlet on the circuit breaker? The car draws 12 amps while charging which negates anything else using that circuit. The wires at the outlet MUST be wrapped around the screws. Inserting them into the quick connect slots is only suitable for powering a table lamp. It is unlikely that there is anything wrong with the EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). It is doing its job of detecting a problem with the incoming power. What you called a charger is an EVSE. The charger is built into the car. If you need to make multiple trips per day from home a 240 volt, 16 amp EVSE is much more convenient since it can charge the battery in two hours instead of 6 hours. That would require a dedicated 240 volt 20 amp circuit.
  22. The number is an estimate. There is no known way to measure the charge in a battery other than keeping track of what is put in and what is taken out.. There are a lot of variables such as temperature that affect the charge level. Also every activation of EV later saves 95% of the current charge in the battery.
  23. PC and app on phone both work fine for me.
  24. Brake rotors warp because they have been overheated. Do you brake with your left foot?
