Fusion Energi - Rear End Collision / HV Battery Damage?
dnorris78 replied to dnorris78's topic in Batteries & Charging
I'm not sure why. I specified OEM parts. Lots of labor cost was on the list. The repair cost was well over 70% of fair market value of the car. GEICO said totaled. -

Fusion Energi - Rear End Collision / HV Battery Damage?
dnorris78 replied to dnorris78's topic in Batteries & Charging
Jeff More than minor damage. Entire rear bumper gone, left quarter panel gone and damage to drivers side rear door where quarter panel was pushed into the door. Also damage to the trunk lid. I am still fighting with insurance to even come and evaluate the car for whether the car will be totaled or repaired. -
Fusion Energi - Rear End Collision / HV Battery Damage?

I did see some posts at another site that said when you put the car into the paint booth to bake the paint the HV battery should be removed. The reason is that the heat will harm the battery. -
My 2013 Fusion Energi was rear ended yesterday with moderate damage to the rear of the car. I am concerned about damage to the HV battery and components. Anybody have any experience or recommendations? I am concerned the repair shops will overlook any potential damage. If the battery has to be replaced what are the costs?

I never had problems until the Major update to the MFM IOS application.
-
I hope Ford is monitoring this forum. I am severely ticked off at the new MFM app for IOS. It just doesn't work. It's getting HOT in the Carolina's and I cannot precondition my car. The remote start just doesn't work. I keep getting timeout errors. BTW Ford I am a seasoned application developer that works for a major corporation in the US. You need help!!! This app sucks! Also may I mention I am getting the timeout errors even when I try to use myfordmobile.com from my Internet browser.

I have a 2013 FFE with 38k miles on it. I purchased it new. My EV Range is going down down down. I used to get 21 now I am getting 16 to 17 miles tops. My driving habits haven't changed and I am the only one that drives the car. Has anyone experienced this issue over time?

Since I work a full time job I recalculated my withholding (a reduction) to increase my tax liability. Next month I will do the calculations again to make sure I am on target. Beginning 2015 I will readjust my wtholdings appropriately. -
In hot climates keep the A/C running. I had a similar problem and the battery was overheating. The battery is cooled from the cabin air.

I recently took a very long road trip from the Carolina's to central Illinois and back. I noticed some interesting things about the mileage on my 2013 FFE. There doesn't seem to be a bit of different in instantaneous mileage readout at 55 mph, 65 mph or 75 mph. By tracking fill ups I get an average of 55 mpg on that road trip. Has anyone experienced this on a road trip?

That might explain why I was going into "Engine Enabled for System Performance" mode ... I was driving home 99 degrees outside and all windows down and not running the A/C ... plus I was driving and accelerating in an aggressive way ... 'taking work frustrations out on the car I suppose' :) I'll cool the cabin prior to leaving and use the A/C on the way home with windows up and see if that makes a difference.

Are you saying that the A/C cool air from the cabin cools the HVB when the A/C is running?

I have an SE and you can control the windows (up and down) with the key FOB. I live in the south and it gets quit warm during the day. I park at work in the sun. I am worried about the ambient temperature heating up the battery. I think that what happened to me. This morning I was able to stay in EV now mode. I accelerated very easy (like grandpa) and kept the speed at 55 and below. I also charge at work (120v) ...

Nothing on that shelf

It's been really warm here in the south. That might be the problem. High 90's today. Do items in the trunk block the airflow for cooling the battery ?
-
I am getting the same issue today. This morning battery fully charged. I turn key and EV NOW turn yellow and a message pops up and says "Engine Enabled for System Performace". The empower screen blue is only 2 marks. Some thoughts - last few drives in EV Now mode I have had a heavy foot. Acceleration coach bar staying in yellow. I am going to dial back my aggressive driving and see if that helps. Oh and all accessories are off
