Test Drove a Fusion Energi Titanium Today, and....
vett93 replied to vett93's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I ended up getting the car. After almost 3 months of ownership, I think the number 1 issue with the ride is that it bounces up and down too much. Your proposed enhancements are addressing the 2nd order issues, IMO. -
I just checked my wife's Lexus. One cannot shift the gear out of Park in ACC mode. On the user manual of her car, it has a section about forcing the shifter out of Park while in ACC mode. One has to use a flat head screwdriver to push a shift lock override button. For the record, I have not run into the same issue again after owning the car for 2.5 months. So it is probably my operator error.

I think if you can listen to the message, you should be able to reply to the message as well. In the phone section, you can use "reply to text messages" voice command. Then follow the interactions.

Can someone please explain why hybrid cars would get better gas mileage in city as oppose to freeway driving? In the city driving, there are a lot more stop and go traffic. I understand that if one brakes gently, most of the energy can be transformed back to the battery. However, no conversion is 100% and it takes more energy to accelerate than driving at a constant speed. The only reason I can think of is that a higher speed on freeway would have more air resistance and need more energy to keep it going. But have I missed anything here? Thanks.

It will reply to the 1st phone number under that contact. Quality is job 1! Not!!

I am not sure that Microsoft would develop the end products for Ford. Usually, they provide the core software packages and their customers (e.g., Ford) would finish the end products. In either case, Ford is responsible for delivering quality products to the customers.

I found a bug in SYNC's text message reply command. One of my contacts has two mobile phones. He used one of them to send me a text message and I used the voice command to reply. The problem is that SYNC sent my reply to the other mobile phone. Design and quality control are really questionable.....

is data sent from the car stored/ tracked by Ford?

It sounds like a subwoofer is malfunctioning. It can be like windshield is rattling. I have a few subwoofers in my house for home theater (3db at 80Hz) and audio (3db at 40Hz) applications. When ANC comes on unintentionally, it sounds like the subwoofer is triggered to generate low freq. noises.

Have you guys noticed that the ANC generates noises when the car is idle? I found the following article describing ANC: http://www.at.ford.com/news/cn/Pages/2013%20Ford%20Fusion%20Hybrid%20Active%20Noise%20Cancellation%20Helps%20Deliver%20Quiet%20Fuel%20Efficiency.aspx While the design can be useful to cancel noises from the ICE, it seems to detect noises from outside of the car as well and sends "counter" signal. The results are very undesirable. As an example, I drive and stop at a traffic light. Then other cars or motorcycles with loud exhaust come near by. The microphones seem to pick up these exhaust noises and think they are from Fusion's ICE. Then the ANC generates its own noises to counter. But it does correct the outside noises because the locations are not the same with the ICE. So it actually makes things worse.

What "good stuff" have you found? I agree that it is important to get good parts.

Do the rear doors have child proof locks?

The DRLs are the reduced light low beams.

How long does the 120V charger take to fully charge an empty HVB? Ford's website says about 7 hours. However, my 120V charger usually only takes 5 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge an empty HVB. So I am curious about your charge times.

I also installed DayVue and have great results. Before the film, it was impossible to see the screen when the sun shines in from the passenger side. The finger prints form a reflective layer of the sun light and block the screen view. This can be a safety issue when you are driving and trying to adjust things. With the film, I can see much better. MFT is much easier to use as a result. Thanks to the thread and forums.

Thanks Kim and Murphy. It works for me. I appreciate the comments.

Fusion Hybrid and Fusion 2.0 Ecoboost AWD have similar weights. Our Fusion Energi cars have 300lbs more weight... I called Eibach, H&R, and Steeda. They all told me no....

He never commented on the ride quality though. ;-)

Have you lowered the car yet?

Software Bug - Value Charge Time sometimes displays current time
vett93 replied to Fat Fusion's topic in Batteries & Charging
Thanks. I am thinking to get an appliance plug-in timer like Intermatic HB113. http://www.intermatic.com/Products/Timers/PlugInTimers/ApplianceTimers/HB110_Series/HB113.aspx It is rated at 2500 watts. So I think it should do the trick. I understand that the 120V charger only draws about 11.5A. But I am pro lots of safety margins. Comments? -
Software Bug - Value Charge Time sometimes displays current time

Can you recommend a heavy duty timer? It seems that digital timers can retain their clocks better due to internal battery backup. But mechanical timers seem to have better current rating. What would be a good choice? -
Thanks. Under the rear deck, there is some plastic pipe. I seem to recall that I read it somewhere about one should avoid blocking the air flow. What is this plastic pipe for?

On Page 361 of the user manual, it states that one can adjust the screen display brightness by going into the "Display" tab of the "Settings" screen. However, on my FFE, it does not have such control. It is missing the "Brightness" choice. My car has a build date of Feb 2014. Is this normal?

I think if you program the charging to a later time and plug in the power, it will turn on the fan to cool down the HVB. I think the fan draws air from the cabin to cool the HVB. If I close the windows, will it show down the cooling effect?
