Led lights

No doubt! I blew a fuse pulling the trunk bulb. Be careful folks - changing fuses in the passenger compartment is tough! -

You might find yourself peeking in the garage and hitting remote unlock to check them out! -
Both the Escape and the Fusion have continuously variable transmissions. There is no Low "gear"; The Low gear effect is the result of software trickery. I prefer "L" because it's easy to avoid using the friction brakes. When I want the car to roll further I switch it to "D". My ICE came on once while going steeply downhill in "L" and the EV display showed "Engine On Due to Low Gear". The battery was fully charged at the time so I take it the air compressor (ICE) was required to provide resistance, emulating the traditional "L" braking effect of a geared transmission. Usually when I come to a stop the battery needs charge so the L effect is provided through more aggressive regen. Gotta love technology! Our other vehicle is an 2008 Escape Hybrid. We have driven the Escape in "L" for years. At 112,000 miles it is still has the original brake pads. I'm sure it's been done before, but I've NEVER put this many miles on brake pads. +1 for regenerative braking!

Maybe running on an inflated tire will help bump my stats on MFM! -

I appreciate this thread having just plugged the right rear! My wife came and got me kind of worried because the car was making a 'sizzling' sound. Turns out it had snapped up a good-sized C ring and was losing air. The toughest part of the whole ordeal was figuring out where to place the jack under the car. -
I did a little research on the Fusion Energi I recently bought and found photos and videos of it's glory days this summer as a Nascar pace car. I don't follow Nascar, but this is pretty cool! Earlier this year my car paced the 2013 Quicken Loans 400 and Pure Michigan 400 at the Michigan International Speeday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv-llNpUZis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2ylwoTu5bU http://www.quickenloans.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/MIS-Pacecar.jpg The vinyl wrap and strobe lights have been removed and the car is returned to a fuel-sipping, normal life although every once in a while I find small vinyl tidbits (white, light blue, or...tonight's dark blue) stuck in cracks, seams, and corners! I never would have pictured a Fusion Energi as a pace car. I wonder if it did the pace lap in EV mode!

Hey! Maybe Ashley can help us organize a group buy on the LED Headlights for the 2013 Ford Mondeo! (assuming they fit the Fusion) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zl4EoeOyr4

Welcome Ashley! I also wondered if Ford was keeping an eye on this forum! I an a software engineer and would love to speak with someone at Ford with intimate knowledge of the MFT system in my 2013 Fusion.

Someone should rename this thread "GO TIMES FIXED!" Woo hoo!!

Another Go Time Success Story!! I told my dealer about TSB 13-05-28 REPROGRAM FCIM TO LATEST CALIBRATION and the success mentioned in this forum. The technician tried to perform the update, but the FCIM kept shutting down mid-update. They found the FCIM defective, ordered a new one, performed the update on the new one, and now Go Times are working like a charm with the factory 120V charger. Thanks to all for posting!

Led lights
mmmhmmmm replied to FusionEnergi's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Update! The 18-chip LED panel I installed in my trunk is definitely bright, but flashes after about a minute or so. I didn't pay enough attention to the trunk light; maybe it dims. I'll try finding and connecting a 150 Ohm 3 Watt resistor as soon as I can find one and see if that fixes it. The panels are so bright it's worth figuring out! -
I told my dealer about TSB 13-05-28 REPROGRAM FCIM TO LATEST CALIBRATION. They attempted many times to apply the software update, but the FCIM kept shutting down mid-update. It refused to accept the update. (Seems reasonable to me. It was also refusing my Go Times!!) They found the FCIM defective. The part is on order and hopefully I'll have the car back soon with working Go Times!

Led lights
mmmhmmmm replied to FusionEnergi's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
I followed a buddy's lead and picked up LED lights from eBay and am seriously impressed. Front parking lights and license plate lights: Changing the front parking lights requires removing the front fender which is very easy (instructions are in the owner's manual - nicely done Ford!). The process takes about a half an hour. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251343629682?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 These wedges are bright white and look great installed. They have forward-facing lenses and work well in the front parking lights. They are bright enough that they illuminate the license plate despite having front-facing lenses. I only used 4, but I feel like there are 8 or 10 left. Maybe the seller can't count. Reverse lights: These fit well, are bright, and were easy to install. Shift into reverse with these and it's wake up time for anybody behind me! These also have lenses. Awesome. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251348485050?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Trunk light: This trunk light is ridiculous. It's a small 18-chip LED panel with 3M adhesive on the back. It comes with adapters to work a variety of light sockets. My car is in the shop so I haven't been able to install it yet. I tested it on my Escape's battery and happened to be looking at the damn thing when it lit. Not sure my retina has healed. Don't look directly into this sum bitch it's like the sun. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251293907042?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I found out that they have a much larger version. The one I bought has 18 led chips, this one has 48. BWAH!!! WTH!!! I'm going to have to try one. Maybe it will help heat the car when Go Times fail. (they better not though - that's one reason my car is in the shop.) http://www.ebay.com/itm/One-piece-New-48-chips-COB-LED-Panel-Light-w-T10-Festoon-BA9S-HID-Xenon-White-/251293907013?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a8248b845 Puddle lights: Since the puddle lights dim, you have to get "error free" bulbs (they have built in resistors). Otherwise you'll end up with annoying flashes instead of dimming. People may laugh and/or throw rotten vegetables. Not cool. These bulbs dim nicely sucketh. One of them has gone bad after about a month. I put the 18 chip panels into the puddle lights instead and they are BRIGHT! http://www.ebay.com/itm/181182915797?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Instructions for removing the puddle lights courtesy of jamers99. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHAvY39UERo The puddle lights are SEALED with a weak adhesive. I was able to snap the clear cover off of one without breaking anything. The other was a pain in the ass. It takes patience to securely seat the LED bulbs in the sockets. I did it with a small screwdriver and carefully bent each contact pin around the metal ends of the led 'bulb' so that it is cradled in place tightly. I briefly considered soldering the bulb to each contact, but didn't. I used crazy glue and clear caulk to seal them back. I put the 18 chip led panels I mentioned above in these puddle lights. They are super bright! Light's I've missed. Interior map lights: I might use the same 18-led panels I used in the trunk Vanity lights: not messing with them. Headlights: not sure about changing these to LED yet, but I'd like to hear from anyone who has and what they used. -
Nice! :hysterical: (although gas stations are probably more deserving!)

The BXT-99R-390 is a Standard Car Battery
mmmhmmmm replied to murphy's topic in Batteries & Charging
Turns out the wimpy Motorcraft BXT-99R-390 won't fit in my lawn mower. Does anybody want it? Local pickup only! I recycled it. I installed the Optima Yellow Top D35 mentioned in post 22 tonight using roughly the same procedure in post 5. I did the 'hot' install by using jumper cables to sustain the Energi and wrapped the live positive lead with copious cloth as recommended. That worked well and being careful paid off. Final notes: The Optima D35 almost fits in the battery tray, but still requires the back of the tray cut off. The Optima battery lacks a lip to lock into the front of the tray. The battery does have a large lip on each corner due to the curved shape of the cells. You might drill through this and bolt the battery to the tray to hold the front down. I put a bolt into the factory hole at the rear of the tray to keep the battery from sliding backwards, and fastened the strap over the top. The factory strap fits loosely over this battery; I had to drill a hole in the strap for a tighter fit. It's not going anywhere. I've never had the battery problems experienced by many here, and this should ensure against that. Thanks for the heads up! -
WeatherTech or Husky liners? Discuss
mmmhmmmm replied to shaggy314's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I suspect that this seller [absolutely no affiliation with me whatsoever] might accept an offer of $105 for Husky Liners 99751 http://www.ebay.com/itm/400589843212?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Mine shipped today (after 3 days of 'handling' time). It would be nice if they arrived tomorrow. We're supposed to get 5-8 inches Friday. -

Remote Start Options
mmmhmmmm replied to newbeetle18t's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Thanks! I was just going to post about Quiet Start. I wonder if this setting has an impact on fan speed during Go Times. -
Mine aren't working either. I'm eagerly awaiting your results. Did the dealer do an update?

The BXT-99R-390 is a Standard Car Battery
mmmhmmmm replied to murphy's topic in Batteries & Charging
I've read this topic and thought about how to address the wimpy BXT-99R-390. I found this deep cycle 99R-series. It's lead acid, but sounds like a brute. http://www.powerstridebattery.com/car-batteries-light-truck-batteries-van-batteries/bci-group-99r-odyssey-pc1200mjt-battery I considered the Shorai, but their FAQ->Cold Weather Performance Expectations don't give me a warm fuzzy. I'm not sold on it for the Energi, although these are excellent motorcycle batteries. http://shoraipower.com/faq In the end I ordered the D35 Optima Yellow Top from Amazon and plan to modify the battery tray (see post 5). I've used one in our Escape Hybrid for years without a problem. Every once in a while the price gets down to ~$135 on Amazon...unfortunately not the case right now. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MSDKMA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&s=automotive#productDetails I'll try the wimpy little Motorcraft BXT-99R-390 in the lawn mower come Spring. If it fits thank you Ford for the lawn mower battery.
