Lesser Known Features and Functions
Energized replied to Energized's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Where Am I ? - Travel Link A new Travel Link feature added in 3.6.2 is the Where Am I? button. An easier way to access this feature is via voice commands: <press Sync button> "Where Am I" It provides the street you're on and the name and distance to the next cross street. In addition, the screen shows Lat/Long and the distance from the last cross street. -

Charging Stations Along Route - Travel Link Travel Link has a button to display charging stations along your route of travel. I think this might be a new feature in 3.6.2 This info comes from Sirius and I have no idea what database they use. From my experience it's been accurate and displays stations close to the route I'm on (within a mile or less). -
Why does navigation tell you where not to turn?
Energized replied to hawkeye's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
Did you do turn voice off by pressing "Guidance Mute" under the Nav menu? I haven't tried that route, I use voice controls for most everything. As you mentioned, under "Nav Preferences" one can choose what kind of Guidance Prompts are desired, just a Tone or both Tone and Voice. I leave it on "Tone and Voice" but generally leave the guidance muted until I'm in an unfamiliar area and can benefit from the verbal commands. -
When I move between D and L I do not see any difference.

The difference in my home electric bill was....

Do you guys with the low rates have tiered rates? i.e. the more you use the more you pay per kWh? -
Agreed. I do the same.

To turn the voice guidance off: <press Sync button> "Voice Guidance Off" To turn voice guidance on: <press Sync button> "Voice Guidance On " When voice guidance is turned off, the system doesn't interrupt with verbal commands or make any noise/chimes/bells at all. When voice guidance is turned off, all guidance is via the main touch screen and/or the small screen to the right of the speedo. -
Good luck trying to figure it out and trying to determine what makes sense. What I've noticed with my utility's Time of Use EV plan is they offer a cheaper rate off-peak, but in turn they increase the on-peak rates. The savings obtained charging a small battery like in the Energi is offset by an increased rate to run everything else in your home.

I've read where Ford says up to 100GB devices are supported but I've seen plenty of examples of people successfully using larger devices than that. The limiting factor is more likely the 15,000 grammar article limit. A grammar article is a distinct song name, artist, genre or an album. At 9000 songs you might be getting close to the 15,000 article limit when considering albums and artists. My understanding is if you reach the grammar article limit, you would lose or limit the ability to sort by track, but you would still retain the ability to track by album, genre artist (assuming those total <15,000). As a test, I would start with a subset of your music and see if the performance increases.

In my experience, a 26.7 mile EV range is more accurate than the "up to 21 miles" that the EPA estimates.

Dealer installed Sync update available
Energized replied to dlb92's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
Gen2 V3.6.2 is the most current version. If you look on the lower right column under "Your SYNC" you will see the version that's installed on your vehicle. "Full SYNC History" will list the history of updates and the date V3.6.2 was installed. It will also indicate "Your installation has been confirmed" If you don't see 3.6.2 confirmed, you can run a Vehicle Health Report which will update the site. The "your vehicle has an update" message doesn't seem to change however. -

Isn't 7.7kWh x .058/kWh x 30 days more than $8 ? I'm jealous because I pay more than .30 per kWh which means it costs me more to drive in EV than it does to drive on unleaded. -
Can you please provide a reference to this requirement that all dealers service EV cars? That runs counter to Ford's requirement. Chevrolet has the same requirement as Ford, and not all Chevy dealers are authorized to sell or service Volts. Special tools and training are required to deal with high voltage batteries. Not every dealer has those tools are training. Those dealers should not be working on the EV portion of the vehicle.

I personally wouldn't consider presenting factual information to counter inaccurate information a "fight". I think the board is better off if we deal in facts. Understanding the voluntary EV Certification process is an important piece of information regarding sales and service considering only 1/3 of dealers are EV Certified. Potential buyers should understand that Energi's are sold and serviced at EV Certified dealers. The contention that all dealers are "forced" to be EV certified is inaccurate and the fact that 2/3rds of all dealers are not EV certified demonstrates that.

Ford dealers are not required to sell Energis. There are only approximately 900 dealers who have voluntarily applied and been approved for EV certification. That means only 1 out of 3 Ford dealers are EV certified. http://green.autoblog.com/2013/02/06/ford-gets-ready-for-900-ev-certified-dealers-by-this-spring/ Once a dealer has voluntarily requested and made the investments required to be a Certified EV dealer, they are required to stock one EV Focus and one C-Max Energi. Part of the certification approval process involves sales and service training.
-
The dealers aren't "forced" to do anything. Dealers voluntarily apply for EV certification so that they can sell EVs, if approved. Most dealers haven't applied for EV certification. Dealers that do voluntarily apply, meet the requirements and become approved EV dealers are only required to keep 1 Focus EV and 1 C-Max Energi in stock. There is no requirement to keep a Fusion Energi in stock. The average car does not sell in 7 days. The average days-to-turn is two months.

Yes, that's a requirement of the application and approval process: To become certified to sell Ford’s plug-in hybrid vehicle, Ford dealers first had to satisfy a list of requirements, including: • One of the two required charging stations at the dealership must be in the customer area and the other must be in the service area • At least one Focus Electric and C-MAX Energi must be available at all times for demonstrations and events • Of the sales consultant, sales manager, service advisor and service manager jobs at each location, 80 percent must meet specific electric vehicle training certification requirements that cover topics including advanced knowledge of electrification • Each showroom will have point-of-purchase display materials including digital assets and window signage • Participation in a Ford Go Green Dealer Onsite Facility Assessment to identify energy- and cost-saving opportunities with a goal of facilitating energy efficiency, lower operating expenses and carbon footprint reduction

Dealers are not mad about carrying Energi vehicles. Dealers have to apply and be approved by Ford before they are a certified EV dealer. Only a minority of dealers are EV certified and allowed to sell Energi models.

I personally don't care for the way Tesla implemented their charge port. They turned something simple into something complicated and prone to problems. For example, a Telsa owner I charge near sometimes uses a credit card to unstick and open his charge door. Having to use the touchscreen or a keyfob to open the charge door is tedious and inconvenient. Making the proprietary connector lock onto the car has led to stranded drivers, including a AutoWeek reviewer. To use a public charging station you have to use an adapter to make the industry standard J1772 fit the "walled garden" Tesla port. Putting the charge port door at the rear of the car makes you back into a parking spot for charging, which owners usually do in a crooked manner and too close to my car. Here is an article on Telsa's charge port, and an argument for the Keep It Simple Stupid method of design. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20121210/CARNEWS/121219982

Count me in: 12 volt dies overnight or while at work

If the Battery Saver indication came on at start up, that would almost seem to indicate the ignition was left in the Accessory mode or some other drain. -
Charge Station locations via Travel Link
Energized replied to Energized's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I find accessing charging stations through Travel Link a more efficient method than accessing them through the POI menu. The location data is up to date in my area. -
Issue with climate control.. 72 vs 73 degrees
Energized replied to TechOps's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
You can choose where the air flows by using Manual mode. If minimizing energy usage is the goal, I find that using Manual mode provides the most control. -
If the system doesn't finish indexing, or takes forever, it usually means there are tags that are incomplete or messed up. Have you run SyncMyiTunes and looked for errors? I fixed all the tagging errors on mine and the system is very responsive.

Did Travel Link add charging stations locations with the latest MFT upgrade ? I know Charging Stations have always been available as a POI function in the Nav system, but I never noticed Charging Stations within Travel Link.
