Lesser Known Features and Functions

Collision Warning Sensitivity Adjustment The collision warning system has three levels of sensitivity. The sensitivity can be changed via the screen to the left of the speedo. The standard setting is the middle setting. -
For the EV calculations you should use the marginal cost not the average cost of electricity. The marginal cost will be higher than the average cost if you are typically in tiers 3 and 4. My rates are almost as high as yours and my own results for the past 15 months confirm that using gasoline is cheaper than electricity, even when gas is in the low $4 range. Like you, using a TOU rate would result in a much higher monthly electric bill since the punishment for using electricity during the peak hours is so severe. It's pretty remarkable how efficient and cost effective the car is using just gasoline, especially considering the large portion of gasoline costs that are just for taxes.

The app will display the last known status of the vehicle. The vehicle status will update when the vehicle is started, or shut off, or when one manually requests an update through the app. If there is poor cell coverage, the current status will not be accurately displayed. Instead, the app will display the last known status of the vehicle which is stored in the cloud. In the case you describe, it's possible the status did not change when the vehicle was turned off due to weak coverage and therefore continued to display the last known status, which was out and about.

IThose used prices are about what they sell for new including the tax incentives and rebates. The sell for 35,170 minus 6,000 rebate minus 7,500 Federal credit minus XXXX State rebate. Given how well equipped the Focus Electric comes, that's a lot of car for $20K.

Yeah, sportier looking wheels available.

Yes, the shifter will move out of Park when in Accessory Mode (starter button light is flashing). The exception is if your charge cord is attached. While the charge cord is attached, you can not move the shifter out of Park.

EV mode mileage drops 3 miles before use every morning

And the reason for the reserve is that amount becomes your "small battery" to allow hybrid operation. If the battery remained at 100% charge, the battery would be unable to accept regenerated energy from the brakes and surplus energy generated by the engine. Drawing down the battery from 100% allows these two sources of energy to flow to the battery which in turn allows hybrid mode to function. -
How does a full battery accept regen braking energy?

That is inaccurate. As Russael indicated, the website has both the First and Second printings listed, as shown below. The Second printing is dated Nov 2014 and it does mention Charge Assist almost a dozen times. -
For your trips that are 150 - 200 miles, how many of those miles are at city speeds and how many are at highway speeds?

As others have said, the condition you describe is indicative of the vehicle being in Accessory Mode instead of Ready to Drive Mode. The fact that the vehicle "moved forward slowly" even though you were in Reverse and pressing on the accelerator pedal would, to me, confirm that the vehicle was in Accessory Mode. If the vehicle had moved suddenly or something more than 'slowly' would indicate something completely different. p.s. Speaking of Lexus/Toyota, didn't they just pay the Justice Department $1.2 Billion for how they treated customers? Talk about a sour taste.

The plug-in Honda Accord PHEV has a base price of $39,780 + $790 destination, $40,570. The $40K Accord PHEV has a manual tilt/telescopic wheel, no power option is available. (Speaking of "luxury" options, the $40K Accord PHEV has cloth seats, no leather is available.) The $40,325 Mercedes C300 has a manual tilt/telescopic steering wheel.

The easiest way to program a personal code in the Keyless Entry System is to use MyFordTouch, just type in the master code and then your personal code. Page 58 of the 2014 Fusion Energi Owners manual: "You may also program a personal entry code through the MyFord Touch system (if equipped)." What is the "undocumented" procedure?

That's what I see as well. That's how I registered my account, was pretty straight forward.

How happy are you with your Fusion Energi?

The easiest way is to keep the electric heater from activating is to set the temperature to LO (or 'Climate temperature 59 degrees' via the voice controls) -
When/how should I be notified of scheduled maintenance?

"Your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Oil-Life MonitorĀ® system, which displays a message in the information display at the proper oil change interval. This interval may be up to two years or 20000 miles " The key phrase is "may be up to" two years. It depends on the number of EV miles vs the number of miles the engine was propelling the car. The more EV miles the longer the oil will last. Other things factor in as week, such as the number of cold starts. For an idea of how your oil life is doing, there is an oil life indicator in one of the menus on the screen to the left of the speedometer. It will indicate the percentage of oil life left. It starts at 100% and declines down to 0% -
Given the amount of information available online, including resources such as this site, why are salespeople even needed?

The LEAF still has a 3.6kW charger as standard. The 6.6 is available as a standalone option for $1250 on the 2014 S models and includes DC charging. The higher trim levels, SV and SL, include the 6.6 charger along with a higher price tag.

Sounds like you have the perfect length commute. EV+ has been my friend on many occasions, keeping the engine from turning on as I approach my home on battery 'fumes.'

Electric Charge Station POIs Displayed On Map The MFT Nav system allows for POIs to be continually displayed on the map. The driver can select up to 3 POI categories to be displayed (gas stations, parking, airport, lodging, etc). Electric Charge Stations is one category of POIs that I find useful to display on the map. For stations such as Chargepoint and Blink, the corporate logo is displayed. Displaying POIs can be easily selected by touching the map which brings up a 'Display POI' button along the bottom of the map. -
For the global closing to work properly, the one-touch-up power window feature needs to be operating properly. The issue is the front windows may lose their one-touch-up memory. When they lose their memory, the global closing for the front windows won't work. The global opening will still work. You can reinitialize the one-touch-up feature, but it will probably lose it's memory again. The fix is to get a software update. The software update reprogams a module that controls the one-touch-up feature so it doesn't lose its memory. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/pubs/content/~WT/~MUS~LEN/3545/tsb13-10-04.htm
