Starting with 2014 models the Volt ditched the locking charge door. The Volts electrically activated lock was problematic and the source of a lot of warranty claims. That design was also a nuisance if you want to plug in your car but don't have your key, and requires you go inside the car to open the charge door. I think the Energi charge door design got it right from the start.

Once the ICE starts, it will run until it's temperature reaches the lower end of the normal operating range, no matter if you are coasting or stopped. If you are in EV Auto, the ICE will start if you are accelerating faster than normal. The ICE will also start when the battery is at a low SOC level, whether in EV Now or Auto.

This may be an obvious question, but since this is a 2013 model, I assume the dealer already updated the PCM software to address misc. erroneous warning lights as described in the TSB?

MyFord Mobile responsiveness and lack of options

After using this app for a year and a half, I give the app two thumbs up. The app provides the info I want and does it in a straight forward manner. -

This site is not owned or run by Ford. It is an independent site, just like MercedesForum.com or BMW-Forums.net. -

Yes, exactly. As Kim mentions, that then allows you to use the passcode after reopening the app. -

I've been checking mine the last few days. It does release as described in the manual, with just the application of the throttle. -

I wish it was only $0.24 per kWh, I pay in the low to mid $0.30s depending on which tier I hit. -
Test Drive question: Poor acceleration on depleted battery?
Energized replied to eric_n_dfw's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Yes, two sources of power and also two sources of power (to the wheels) that can be manually selected by the driver. Those two sources can be used exclusively (ICE or EV) or in combination as two blended sources of power (ICE + EV). Having an eCVT allows this flexibility and blending to happen efficiently. The advantage of this solution is the driver can select the mode for the given situation or desired goals (climbing hills, max acceleration, max efficiency, high speed cruising, etc.). Since electricity costs more than unleaded for me, having this flexibility and capability is essential for me. -

Here is an excerpt from Motor Trend on this subject. "The 2014 Ford Fusion Energi not only is more efficient overall than its non-plug-in counterpart, but it's quicker, too. Combined power is rated 188 hp from a 141-hp, 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle I-4 and 118-hp electric motor, and the big battery filling much of the trunk is a 7.6 kW-hr lithium-ion unit. Despite weighing 3981 pounds as-tested in high-end Titanium trim, the 2014 Ford Fusion Energi is slightly quicker in stoplight sprints to 30 mph, at 2.9 seconds to the 3.1 seconds of the Toyota Prius PHEV, 2012 Chevrolet Volt, and non-PHEV Fusion Hybrid SE. When the engine and electric motor are working together, the Fusion Energi never feels sluggish. From zero to 60 mph, the Fusion Energi's 7.9-second time beats the non-PHEV Fusion (8.5 seconds), Toyota Prius PHEV (9.8 seconds), and 2012 Chevrolet Volt (8.8 seconds)." Looks great, congratulations. My Ford dealer and sales person were very professional as well. My floor mats have held up well after 17 months (as has the rest of the car for that matter). In addition to the standard mats, I have the optional factory rubber floor mats took but they're still unused in the plastic package. Enjoy your ride.

New FFE Owner - Collision Avoidance and other???
Energized replied to Pavman's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
To view the list of commands that are active on the current version of MFT, look under the Help menu. The commands are listed by category ..... Climate, Nav, etc. I would imagine these commands change as new versions of MFT are released. -

Min and Max Fan are not listed in the list of commands under Help and those commands do not work on my system. Increase fan speed is listed. -

Do the red warning lights activate when you start the car? If the warning lights illuminate and if the ACC is tracking vehicles properly, the warning system is likely also working. The Collision Warning System is a subset of the ACC system and uses the same radar sensor. The Collision Warning System looks for two major things, 1) if a collision with a car in front is imminent and 2) if the driver is doing anything about it. If the driver is braking or starts to steer away from the obstacle, the warning system will not activate. Swerving toward a car parked along the street will not necessarily activate the system. The system can detect if the driver is actively engaged with driving and will not activate. -
Press the Vent/Panel or Floor 'buttons' on the MFT screen. This puts the system in manual mode and turns off the Auto light. Or by voice, "Climate" then "Vent"

To precondition the vehicle before you leave, "one time go time", use the remote start feature on your key fob, or via MFM if you have coverage.

It will not open while driving. It will only open when stopped and with transmission in Park. A year and a half and no incidents of an inadvertent opening. I have no issues with the placement of the button. -
Free Money ....EPA mileage restatement
Energized replied to Energized's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
The mileage of the Energi's was always rated less than the regular hybrids due to two significant differences, the higher vehicle weight of the Energi (due to the larger/heavier battery) and the lower final gearing. -
Free Money ....EPA mileage restatement
Energized replied to Energized's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
No, the Fusion Energi never had a 47mpg rating. This is the first restatement for the Energi. I don't understand the new rating, it's way below what I've achieved over the last 15 months. You would have the drive and brake the car pretty hard to achieve a result as low as the EPA rating. I think the EPA needs to go back to the drawing board and make their testing protocol simpler. -

These new figures seem incredibly conservative. The old numbers were easy to beat. Regardless, an unexpected check is always welcomed. -
The Fusion Energi and some other cars are having their EPA mileage and range restated. We're supposed to be compensated for the change.
