SYNC Services allows you to manage your destinations (MyPoints) via a mobile app (SYNC Destinations) or via the web. You can enter your destination and then send it to the car through SYNC Services. SYNC Services also allows you to search for business locations (restaurants, coffee shop, hardware store, etc) via voice through their servers or you can choose to talk to a live person. Either way the destination gets sent to the Nav system. If you don't have Nav, the system will still provide turn-by-turn directions by voice. SYNC Services is free for 3 years. You can also send a destination to your car through MapQuest via "Send to SYNC"

Thanks! Maybe I should open the owners manual some time. Lol. -
What's the highest EV range you've seen on the dash?
Energized replied to Mr. Fusion's topic in Batteries & Charging
The 43 mile EV range was from a lot of short, lower speed trips to local places like the grocery store, gym, post office etc. All lower speed city miles with high 90% brake scores and no heat or A/C required. For prospective buyers, I would consider this an anomaly. The EPA estimates "up to 21 miles," although I always get better than 21. -

PEN HOLDER - Center Console I found a neat pen holder in the center console. Also in the center console there's also a rectangular holder for something. Haven't figured out what will fit in that. -
Door handle touch locks
Energized replied to Russael's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
The top of the door handles have a sensor to lock the doors. The lock sensor is noted by hash marks. The red lights on the door sills illuminate when locked. The inside of the grab handles have a sensor to unlock the doors. Each door has a lock sensor on top of the handle and of course an unlock sensor inside the handle. When leaving the car, it's quite handy to use this top sensor to lock the doors rather than getting out the keyfob and using the button. The other option to lock the doors is simultaneously pressing the bottom two buttons of the keypad 7/8 + 9/0. This isn't as convenient since you first need to awaken the buttons, then press 7/8 + 9/0. As you've found out, if the SmartKey is nearby and you hit it with a stream of water from a hose the door will lock. As mentioned above tap water is conductive. I don't know if water at a car wash would have a concentrated enough stream to activate the lock button like the stream from a hose does. -
That trip was about 80% highway and the rest city

Car Delivered with little electric charge...
Energized replied to mets67's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Every Energi dealer needs to a "Certified" EV dealer which means, among other things, they're required to have at least two L2 chargers, one in the front of the dealership and one in the back service area. My salesman charged my Energi while I was completing the sales process, finance, etc. so I left with a full charge. -
Since the system also provides the location of the vehicle (even while its in motion) I can see why there would also be privacy concerns and the need for secure access. The security of the unlocking feature is also important of course. Given that, it would be nice if you can at least access the battery level info without the password.

120V CHARGING NOT FULLY CHARGING TO LIMIT AT 21 MILES
Energized replied to GRAYTAG's topic in Batteries & Charging
Here is an example of mpgs with no plug-in energy used from the big battery (0.0kWh used), this is 100% hybrid mode over 50 miles of mostly highway. This is part of what makes the Fusion Energi so special and so unique. You have the benefit of an EV but you aren't range limited, and you aren't penalized with poor mpgs when the big battery is depleted like the Volt is. When the plug-in battery is depleted (or if you choose to save your EV miles for later), you still have a very efficient hybrid mode to use. Part of the fun of the NRG is optimizing the mpgs by choosing which mode to be in. -

That's happened to me as we'll. It only happened on the front windows, not the back. How frequently do your windows lose their memory?

I prefer to use an app to find charging stations but the Nav system does have POI listings for Electric Charge Stations. They are listed under <POI>, <Automotive>, <Electric Charge Station> You can also make <Electric Charge Station> category a Favorite POI so it shows up on the top level POI screen. POIs can also be found through the voice commands of course, which is quite handy while driving. Interestingly, the Charge station listings are updated through SiriusXM TravelLink so they should be more current than the SD card items.

What Level 2 Charger did you buy/install?
Energized replied to jeff_h's topic in Batteries & Charging
I've come to the same conclusion. The charging time at 110V has been plenty fast for my uses and buying gas once every 6 weeks or so isn't bad. -
Of all the charging station apps that I've used, I like an app called PlugShare best. It consolidates stations from all sources and you can filter by different criteria.

120V CHARGING NOT FULLY CHARGING TO LIMIT AT 21 MILES
Energized replied to GRAYTAG's topic in Batteries & Charging
You are confusing the 'Predicted Range' display with the battery level. You are not doing anything wrong and you are getting 100% charge based on the center screen. The 'Predicted Range' display is merely a prediction of how many miles you might go on the current charge level based on current load demands and recent driving style. -
Ford Fusion Energi: 800 miles on 5 gallons of gas - 160 MPG!
Energized replied to doug's topic in Fuel Mileage
I wouldn't call MPG with a plug-in meaningless, MPG just needs to be understood in the proper context, For Doug, one of his goals is to reduce his use of gasoline, so going 800 miles on 5 gallons of gas (160 MPG) is very relevant. I think going 800 miles on 1/3 of a tank is an achievement that would interest people who are curious about plug-ins and they possibilities they bring. It demonstrates one of the benefits of having a convenient fuel source at home, an electrical outlet. I know I haven't missed going to a gas station in 6 weeks. -
Hi APM, For hybrid mode, the EV miles really shouldn't be stripped from the calculation. Those EV miles were produced by the ICE and the fuel that went into the ICE. None of the EV miles come from the plug-in battery in this mode. What is different with the Fusion is the ICE doesn't just propel the vehicle via the engine like a regular car, the ICE also charges the battery. The battery then provides EV miles via the motor. Therefore, those EV miles belong in the ICE column because they were generated by the ICE (by using fuel). You can also track the MPGs while in hybrid mode by being in EV Later and using the Fuel Economy display, hold the OK button to reset.

This is a Trip Summary of MPGs in 100% hybrid mode, EV Later with no use of the plug-in battery. Note that the Energy Use display truncates the last digit of the fuel used rather than round up or round down. The system does however use the entire amount of fuel used in the MPG calculation. Actual fuel used was 1.079 gal for 50.4 miles = 46.7 mpg. 0.0 kWh of energy was used from the plug-in battery.

Bosch releases first sub-$450 L2 Charger
Energized replied to Energized's topic in Batteries & Charging
The Energi has an onboard 3.3kW charger. Having a 4.8kW chargepoint would not provide any added benefit over a 3.8kW one. If buying with a future BEV in mind, it would be better to go with a chargepoint capable of supporting a 6.6kw onboard charger. -
Just hit 800 miles and still have 1/8 tank - What does the Future Bring?
Energized replied to DAVE's topic in Fuel Mileage
The EV Miles display is not going to distinguish which mode the vehicle was in when the EV Miles were accrued. EV Miles come from many different sources, not just the Plug-In battery. The easiest way to measure MPGs when in the hybrid modes is to switch to EV Later and reset the MPG gauge, or start your trip in EV Later and stay in that mode. -

I was using Grade Assist today and after several miles were added on the battery display, the engine turned on and "Engine On For: Grade Assist" was displayed on the center display. Once previously I topped off the battery going downhill using just the throttle-off regen, not Grade Assist. In that condition, once the battery was full the "engine drag" ceased and the vehicle picked up speed as if in neutral, sort of. On the center pictoral display, the blue regen stopped flowing into the battery. In this condition the engine did not start.

The caret above and below the battery are displayed only if selected. If I remember correctly, to turn them on you use the left steering wheel controls and go to: <Display Mode> then press the Right > on the steering wheel control then press the Right > again until you see <Battery Display> then you can turn on/off Regen Active Charge Assist Charge Level
