Welcome to the board! There have been a lot of new FFE owners during the past month. Seems to match the recent surge in sales of the FFE.

Another big month for the Fusion Energi with sales more than doubling over last year. 1,700 FFEs sold in June 2016 vs 727 FFEs sold in June 2015 Year to Dates Sales: 7,235 FFEs sold in the first 6 months of 2016 4,290 FFEs sold in the first 6 months of 2015.

I agree with the author's conclusion regarding the FFE: "if you have a need/strong desire for a large car and can’t afford a Tesla, the Fusion Energi is probably the first car I’d recommend"

Welcome. I just wash it normally without regard for the charging port. I only use a regular hose and nozzle when washing. Take a flashlight and look down the charging port connector. It seems to be designed to allow water to flow through the connector should water happen to get in. The only tip I have is I use an air compress to blow away water in the grille and various seems around the car. Happy washing.

SYNC 3 availability depends on the vehicle model. For the Fusion, SYNC3 is on 2017 models, not 2016.

Did they elaborate on the debris? Was it road debris that damaged the sensor?

The new powertrain software changes to the 2017 addresses the "CVT effect". It's still an eCVT but the new software in the 2017s makes an improvement in how the engine responds to driver input.

Another huge month for the Fusion Energi with 1,453 units sold. That's up 47% over last year even though the overall auto market was down in May, especially for sedans. The BEVs had yet another bad month. LEAF was down 53% to only 979 units. Model S had another month with a huge decline, down 50% to 1,200.

I'd say 700 miles is doable.

A new article and press release on the increased range of the 2017 FFE. Total range now 610 miles, up 60 miles from prior year. The pleasant surprises on the 2017 Energi keep coming......... Along with the increased efficiency/range/MPG, SYNC 3, free Apple Car Play/ Android Auto etc, the 2017 is also now $2,000 ​​less expensive than previously advertised, at least where I live. The 2017 FFE comes with an "Energi discount" that takes $2,000 off the price. On top of that, there is currently a $500 rebate in my area. Extremely glad that Ford is passing along the dramatically lower battery prices to the consumer....especially this consumer! haha

The Leaf just continues to tank in sales, down 50%. I imagine Nissan thought the new bigger battery/more range was going to pull Leaf sales out of the doldrums, but things have only gotten worse for the Leaf.

Yes, new more efficient motors and new software result in the increase in efficiency/range. A double digit increase in efficiency and range is actually fairly significant given it's the same size battery as before and the vehicle was already efficient to begin with. The Fusion's 97 MPGe rating is quite a bit better than the Telsa S70 rating of 89 MPGe. Telsa is charging customers $3000 to get only 15 miles more range out of the S70, so even a small increase in range is expensive at Tesla. With a significantly lower price for the 2017s, at least Ford is improving range while lowering the price, in effect passing along the reduction in battery costs to customers.

Interesting. The only two EVs to sell more more than 1000 units during the month were both PHEVs. The highest BEV was only 850 units.

Even in the remaining months of the first generation FFE, new sales records are being made. For April, FFE sales are up 73%. For the first quarter, sales are up 59%. The FFE sold better than the Leaf (1,331 vs 787) even though the Leaf has a new version with greater range. For the year FFE is outselling the Leaf. Since the 2017s FFEs aren't out yet, I would expect FFE sales to drop off for the next coupe of months, but who knows.

Yea, I don't think the tune didn't change at all. The only thing that changed is they finally confirmed the rumors that have been circulating for well over a year. Most companies don't reveal their plans too early for competitive reasons. Given what's already leaked out about the design, and the foreshadowing of the name, it's possible the Model E will do for electrified mobility for the "common man" what the Model T did for mobility a century ago.
