  1. Please see this thread for important info about this recall: https://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/10977-recall-issued-2019-2020-fusion-energi-becm-fire-risk/
  2. Hi all, I just received a notification about a new recall for the 2019-2020 Fusion Energi. Apparently there is an issue with the BECM which can be damaged by excess voltage. I called my local Ford dealer and asked when they think a fix will be available, they said to check back in 3 weeks but they had no information yet. Unfortunately Ford is asking us not to charge the vehicle until the BECM can be replaced. Which sucks. I'm going to park mine outside on the street and not in the garage, just to be extra safe. Apparently there have been 5 fires of parked Fusions while at dealerships, and 2 while driving. No injuries or crashes reported. 7 out of 14,452 is 0.048% which is somewhat comforting. 3. Hi all, according to this thread on another forum, Ford apparently cheaped-out on the 2019/20 FFE and omitted the under-hood insulation. Has anyone added one back to their car? I'm mainly looking for noise insulation and this seems like an obvious way to muffle the engine noise. It looks like I'll need: Hood Insulation Pad. Insulator - Front: $148.62 HC1 Clip - 17 X 19mm, Front (looks like it comes with 25 pieces?) $36.00 Couple questions: - Do you think it might be worth a drive out to a junkyard and pull one of these off another Fusion? Nearest one to me is 1.5 hrs away. - Would aftermarket sound deadening panels work better? The kind you stick on like this. Here's what my 2019 looks like under the hood: It also looks like Ford deleted the weather strip on each side of the engine bay (see pic below). Do you think those would make a difference lowering engine noise? Pic via @billford
  4. Looks great with the tint! I like those wheels too. Fellow Oaklander with a new (to me) FFE, we're calling it "Colin Robinson." 2019. I plucked it from Oregon so I can get HOV stickers.
  5. Living in Oakland CA means poorly maintained streets, tons of potholes, debris and broken pavement. I suffered with the OEM Michelin Energy Saver A/S on my previous car (Volt) and they're way too fragile for this city. The smallest nail or piece of glass would puncture the paper-thin sidewalls. Plus they have terrible traction just about everywhere. So when I purchased my '19 Fusion Energi and noticed it came with the same Michelins, I knew they had to go. It was a shame since there was approx 15-20k miles left on the Michelins. I went with a set of Pirelli P7 All Season Plus 3 (link) which are all-season but tend to favor dryer climates. They were about $750 installed locally. Instantly the car felt much better in every way, it even added a bit of much-needed liveliness to the handling. No more squeals when accelerating or cornering, quieter and more comfortable on the freeway. There will be a hit to EV range and MPG, but I don't expect it to be significant. A fair trade if the new tires will prevent me from another roadside flat repair. Related: I ordered a mini-spare from a 2013 Escape along with a spare tire jack/lug wrench. Although it takes up precious room in the trunk, it could mean my next flat will only take 30 minutes instead of a multi-hour ordeal with a tow truck. And I tend to get a lot of flats ?
