  1. Yes, Settings > Media Player Auto Play to Off does nothing when it comes to Blue Tooth media. Probably effects USB, but definitely does nothing for BT. The Auto Play issue is not just a Ford thing, it happens to practically every car's audio system when it comes to streaming BT audio on iOS devices as well as various Android phones, and there's endless complaints about it on other forums.

It's part of the BT audio specification that sends the Auto Play signal. Ford seems to intercept this Auto Play signal better than other cars, however it's still sloppy as you'll notice if you go ahead and switch to BT Audio it'll simply auto play whatever music you have on your iPhone - it won't ask you for a song, a playlist, or anything, it'll just start playing away. I listed to Audible books so it will auto-resume the book as long as I haven't opened up my iPhone Music player or Pandora or Spotify.

My solution to avoid this auto-play issue as stated above is to switch to a new input before turning my car off, otherwise as soon as you turn the key, BT Audio starts playing whatever you have opened last. If you're in the habit of turning down your radio before leaving the car, my Audible book will play and play without me knowing it and then I have to screw around with my iOS device to rewind it, which I won't notice until I'm on the road and it's as dangerous as texting. By being able to switch to AV Inputs, that is effectively a "Stop Auto Play" button, so I can get in my car, set the temp, get situated and pay my tolls and get on the road before switching to BT Audio and actually starting up where I left off on my Audible book.

Ah, I was playing around with it today on my car with my note 4 (android) and if I turned if off it would not auto play my spotify when I got back in the car.

When I switch to BT audio I have to use my phone to play something otherwise I have silence, regardless of the auto play settings UNLESS I have an app that has been loaded in the background of my phone such as spotify/amazon/pandora it will auto play one of those. If nothing is running in the background on my phone, nothing plays until I load an app on the phone manually. So cant you just double click your home button swipe up on the audiobook app and fix your problem every time you leave your car? When you come back it should be silence unless you have some other app that plays music running in the background on your phone loaded?

  2. You don't need to turn the radio off.

You just need to set the volume using your phone when are streaming through BT. If you set the volume on the radio and you switch to AM/FM it will be crazy loud. When I enter/exit my car I leave my BT audio connected and it will also attempt to try auto play my spotify app, if I close the app from running in the background of my phone it wont work.

I can confirm when I click the AV in/out my screen does not show the same behavior as yours. I have all 4 corners available.

  3. enable engine prompt repeatedly came up and advanced to the 'engine enabled message' after pressing ok while the vehicle was parked with the climate controls completely off. The engine did not actually run despite this prompt and message appearing 4 or 5 times inside a minute. I asked for a manager, who eventually asked the owner, who waived the fee and is now "involved." Whatever that means. The service lady also printed out and highlighted the pages of the manual describing the enable engine message appearing for performance during ev now and climate control demand.

I have a 2013 and that's how mine works. Go into EV Now get a pop up "Enable Engine" everytime If I am driving in ev now and click the OK button the engine will turn on if I am parked and clicked the button nothing happens besides it saying "engine enabled".

  4. I currently use BT audio streaming via phone's spotify app 100% of the time. When I come back to the car it will attempt to auto play the spotify app and most of the times it will start playing. If it cannot auto play anything, MFT will auto switch to the radio station after about 10-20 secs of silence.

If I close the spotify app from running in the background I have to relaunch the app in order for the BT audio to play again. It would be to much of a pain in the butt to close all your apps every time you get out of your car if you wanted to prevent auto playing. But if you have an android you could setup some sort of tasks using "TASKER" to close apps/start apps in the background.

I will check the AVI input settings and see if I get any different results then your video.

  5. A few quick question on the cam's that y'all have. Do you have to keep pulling the devices out to sync? Is it just the one device or a multiple of devices? Getting a dash cam is kinda a new idea for me. Does it matter if it faces just towards the front or both? I know that there is an app for cellphones to turn them into dash cams.

I think all of them you still have to pull the memory card out and plug it into the computer to view the files. There are wifi enabled sd cards that you can use. I have mine setup using a wifi sd card and just use my phone to download the files and send it to dropbox for viewing later on the computer.

  6. That should be about 2 lbs. less (???) than the factory 10-spoke wheel on the Titanium. Overall, an 8lb savings.

Think I will go with the Pirelli Cinturato P7 Grand Touring All-Season Plus LLR tire as well - as the stock Michelin energy saver tires are really bad. The Pirelli's are highly-rated on TR.

Wheel looks nice, those Michelin energy saver tires are bad.

  7. Technically, my car didn't exhibit any of these problems, so there was nothing to really troubleshoot.  Others on the forum have said that they will not update a module unless they have a reproducible problem, in which case they could update it under warranty.  Asking the dealership to just arbitrarily update the software is what I did.  I just consider it computer maintenance.

    It was just stupidly expensive.

To get access to Ford's calibration files for 1 year is $699, and that doesn't include any hardware.

    Russael,

When you go to https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.doand look up your car does it actually show all the modules updated? See picture. Wasn't sure if that website is updated accordingly.

I did the recall for 15E03 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING but the date checked is the same as the others/build date time frame.

  8. How thick is the assembly, ie how much clearance would you need on the top shelf?

    Gary

I measured it tonight I have been busy sorry for the delay. Whatever that black plastic part that goes across towards the top of the trunk area on that shelf is 17inches wide and about 4.5-5inches tall. I have tried taking all the air out of the tire to make it fit up there but no luck, rim measures about 18inches from side to side but height is no problem.

It also looks like that black plastic part is held on by 4 screws when you let the rear seats go down, not sure what is in it. I attached more pictures. When we go to Vegas we put the tire in and have some room to the right for a small bag or two.

I also was thinking about it the other day what would happen in a rear end collision with that tire in there. Not sure about the safety aspect of it.

Nice work! Though I think it showing of how pour ford organization is that an owner had to find this out for other owners. That ford has a spare tire that will fit our vehicle and fit in the trunk but no one at any level of ford knows this.

In fact, because this or any tire is not labelled as a fusion energi spare in their parts catalog, they would tell you no such wheel and tire exists.

Yea it sucks, I have heard they try and just give people the regular fusion spare tires but they don't work on the Energi.

So I began scouring local junk yards for this wheel, and found not 1, but 3. One is aluminum, so lets discount that, but the other 2 listed as temporary spares supposedly come in 2 sizes, 17X4 and 17X4.5.

Is the spare you are using successfully 4" wide, or 4-1/2"?

I am using a 17x4.5 that's what it says on the rim.

  9. It looks like there are scrape marks the whole way around the inside of the rim.  Are you sure it clears the brake caliper?

It is a 17inch rim so it matches with what is on the car now. I put it on the front driver side and it looked like it cleared the brake caliper and took it slow around the neighbor, I didn't notice or hear any problems/scraping.

I'll double check the rim tonight for any wear marks and may test it some more this weekend. I'll try and get some more pictures once I get it on the car again.

Will it happen to fit on the top shelf if you take the air out?

    Gary

I tried but it would only go in about a quarter of the way, there was some stuff that is towards the top of the trunk that blocks it.

That top shelf area would be perfect for storing it.

  10. I finally got a 2013 Escape spare tire and can confirm it will work for the Energi. No problems driving around on it besides the TPMS warning. *Has to be a 2013 or higher ford Escape, 2012 and below Escape spare tires have different bolt patterns.

It will fit in the trunk but we only take it when we drive to Arizona or Vegas. I would rather not wait for a tow truck being in the middle of no where.

  11. Question 1: Looking at the 2013's, I see there are a few with like 13k miles on them and selling for 21K, this one even had adaptive cruise control.

Question 2: Yea I would probably buy the extended warranty, I don't know if it will be the same as bumper to bumper though? Check out flood ford for pricing on there website so you know if you got a good deal or buy from them directly.

  12. Yeah I kinda figured as much. My financing is with FMC and I don't know if they will negotiate the buyout or if it's a fixed number. Any idea about FMC's policy?

From my research FMC normally wont negotiate on the lease buyout amount. But since this is not like a traditional gas power vehicle ford normally sells, maybe they will negotiate on these 2013's.

I am interested as well in buying mine out but I have until 10/2016. Let us know what FMC says if you ask or attempt to.

  13. As murphy already pointed out the spare compact item # CV6Z-1015-B does not work for the Energi since it will hit the brake caliper.

I saw this post from Steve Smith (http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/2049-temporary-donut-spare-tire-search/?p=13352) that pointed out the tire works using a T155/70R17 with 5 x 4.25 bolt pattern. It appeared it required some customizing to make work, which most of us won’t want to do.

It appears the 2013 Escape spare uses a T155/70R17 5x4.25 bolt pattern I am going to try and find one and will let everyone know how it goes if I am able to get it to work. Part # (CJ5Z1015B). Even if it works storing it in trunk may be a problem.

  14. Does everybody on this forum (except me) make 6 figures or more (aside from those who have retired)? :)

For me, my tax liability for 2013 was a whopping 37 dollars after credits.  There's no way I could've claimed a 7500 credit for a Focus Electric (even though it was priced similarly) or a Volt, or a Tesla unless I killed off investing in to my 401k.

I put a sizeable down payment on the car with a 6 year note.  I expect to have it gone in 4 or 5 years total though.

Fat Fusion:  2k in interest???  Good grief.  My car note and mortgage together is 1100 a month.  2k a month would leave me with nothing left to even eat.

6 figures in California specifically in the Bay area/orange county/San Diego would not nearly be as nice as 6 figures in other states. I would guess a 400-500K mortgage would be close to 2k in interest per month.

We only had a $900 tax liability so tax credit wouldn't of worked for us either, ended up leasing the vehicle.

  15. Some folks, particularly self employed people, have lots of business expenses that can be deducted or are eligible for other credits. I think that is what got the OP.  For a normal "employed" individual, I suspect they would always have a tax liability.

Also being in California add a 400-500K mortgage/property taxes/family/kids and I can see how some don't have tax liabilities.

  16. I haven't but there are long discussions about people wanting an actually spare tire instead of can of fix a flat. Do a search on the Hybrid forum.

It has already been determined the Hybrid spare tire does not work for the Energi per the sticky on this forum.

My guess, you would need a full size tire, jack & lug nut wrench.
