They are all uninformed and don't know what they're talking about. They should all know about this June service bulletin.? This is why some people don't like Ford, they treat you like family! TSB 22-2230 Service Bulletin Details https://dot.report/bulletins/10214758 Download and print out the service bulletin then take it with you and schedule an appointment. Empty the trunk and fold down the rear seats. Place the printed service bulletin in the clean and empty trunk and pray the technician can follow instructions.?

To see if you have coverage under this CSP, visit the Ford Support website and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or log in to your account. Otherwise, you pay parts and labor. Mine totaled just under $500. I'm buying a second Energi this week. It's a 2020 and the vin is not listed in Ford's Customer Satisfaction Program so I'm going to have it done again at that dealership. BTW my recent experience with the cost of a Ford extended warranty coverage revealed that it varies from dealership to dealership as much as a 100% so shop around.

I assume you own an Energi. Before the 4G modem upgrade, I updated Sync 3 to 3.4 using an update file download from a laptop to a high capacity exFAT formatted USB drive and placed it in the vehicle's USP port. (If you need to update, the vehicle must be on so turn auto stop off.) https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/ TSB 22-2230 Service Bulletin Details https://dot.report/bulletins/10214758 Download and print out the service bulletin then take it with you and schedule an appointment. I deleted the VIN from the FordPass app before service and was contacted by the technician during installation to re-enter the VIN and authorization was granted. All of my functions are working. The 4G modem upgrade with parts, labor, and tax totaled just under $500.

A dealer did mine on July 12th for $468 parts and labor plus tax. I'd still be waiting if it wasn't for this forum.?

Our local Ford dealership was able to install the 4G modem today and FordPass is working well with all functions. ? The technician had problems with the authorization process (4.5 hours) but about an hour after they called me to add the vehicle VIN to the app I did it again and... VOILÀ The modem charge was $318.45 with $150.00 labor and tax totaled $498.90 ?

I removed my Energi from the FordPass app and then when I started the car Sync gave a notice to add a vehicle. That's how I found the FordPass settings in Sync 3.4 under settings - mobile apps - FordPass. I have an appointment for the 4G install mid July.

Thanks, I'll take a copy of this TSB to my local Ford dealership and schedule it for service.

I would be concerned that making any modifications not authorized by Ford would void my warranty. But for those out of warranty who have the ability to follow step by step directions, being innovative has its rewards. This was in my news feed today: Fusion Infotainment Screen Modernizes Sedan This 13.6 inch vertical screen with a HDTV digital module would be a nice addition to a working 4G modem for those out of warranty. Hopefully, Ford engineers will resolve this modem compatibility issue soon. ? But keep in mind that changing the operating system means a potential buyer can't take the car to a dealer for any repairs related to the system. This would lower the value of the automobile. This is a question asked by buyers "Has there been any modifications to this car?"

Now Carvana is offering me $28,544 or $3,594 more than I paid for my Energi two years ago. I wonder how much I could get in a private sale and should I disclose the fact of not having 4G connectivity or should I do what Ford did to us since they set the precedent?
-
Thanks for taking your time to add insight to this 4G upgrade conversion. I'll check with the service department of our local dealer again at the end of the month. The only reason I have any anxiety over this issue is simply because I know what the convenience of being connected remotely to your car is like. However, to take the sting out of this affront, I purchased my CPO 2019 Ford Fusion Energi with 76 miles for $24,950 in June of 2020 from a dealer in Michigan. Today CarMax is offering me $27,600 with over 18,000 miles!

A FordPass Guide said in a chat this morning: Ford has not provided a date as to when or if the installation process will resume.

I went to my local Ford dealership today who previously spent three hours trying to program the 4G modem unsuccessfully told me initially there was a hold ✋ on installations till the end of May and now the latest service notice is that by the middle of June a schedule one installation procedure will be available at that time and to hold off installations until then. On the plus side I was able to download unzip and copy to a USB drive the installation files for the 3.4 Sync system upgrade which has to be done first before I successfully upgraded the Sync navigation maps version to NA 2 20 by way of free download. I like the ability to choose the eco route out of a choice of three in navigation now. ?

That's encouraging news for my Betty White FFE. A lot of this issue is the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. I'll check back with the service department again at the end of the month. It's been 77 days since MyFordMobile was decommissioned. Betty's VIN wasn't listed in the 21B09 Customer Satisfaction Program even though she was born at Hermosillo, Mexico, in December of 2018. ? David J. Johnson Ford Motor Company Director P. O. I agree, just venting frustration. Hopefully this will be resolved before the end of the world or my extended warranty expires!

But to put this into perspective, we are complaining about automotive network technology when our country was almost overthrown, have been living through a pandemic, and we may be entering a nuclear world war III. I hope I get my Ford Fusion Energi connected to the 4G network before I get vaporized!

Exactly, that was on my mind when I spoke with the dealership service department but didn't say anything because they don't write the rule book.?

I stopped at my Ford dealership this morning and they received notice from Ford dated April 29th to cease ALL 21B09 CSP conversions of 3G to 4G modems until the end of May because their engineers are still working on the conversion. So the problem is not just with the Ford Fusion Energi model. When I check my VIN number today for a CSP it reports it as invalid when I know it was correct❗ What's up with that❗ https://www.ford.com/support/recalls/

Did Ford realize they dropped the FFE 3G to 4G modem upgrade ball and need new engineering talent? April 28 (UPI) -- Ford is cutting out hundreds of engineering jobs in the United States in order to seek out new talent, the automaker said on the same day that it reported a first-quarter loss of more than $3 billion. https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2022/04/28/ford-job-cuts-earnings/5701651143431/

These people may be able to give you a consultation for a class action, but if found in your favor, the settlements can take years to receive. https://bergermontague.com/practice-area/ April 10th was the last time I spoke to Ford customer service and they said they will keep an open ticket on the issue. I will call back every 30 days until this gets resolved.

Nada Ismail is a Telematics D&R Engineer at Ford Motor Company and may be able to help with the issue. I sent an email today requesting her to keep Ford customer care informed of the open ticket they have for my 4G Energi modem not being successfully programmed. I gave her the name and phone number of the customer satisfaction agent. https://www.linkedin.com/in/nada-ismail-bb842233

At least the dealership didn't install the 4G modem they couldn't program and say sorry you need an update for it to communicate with FordPass and charge me for parts and labor.?
