All, hope to hear if anyone is having the same issue but I am having it on my 2018 Fusion Energy SE with 46k miles. Notes below. I hear it on the left hand(driver) side/front left wheel area.
My fear is its related to the HF35 like in the 2015ish era cars with bearing issues.
Sounds like scraping/rasping noise that starts around 20mph and levels off just before 50mph at that point road noise drowns it out
Rasping noise increases with speed 20-50mph but ONLY when on throttle. This would indicate not a wheel bearing since wheels would still be turning.
Letting off throttle immediately stops the noise and is reproducible every time. Getting back on throttle starts the rasping noise again
Its a circular sound as in it sounds like something hitting a spot every few seconds and the noise increases/decreases its speed with vehicle speed.
Happens under throttle on EV or ICE mode no difference. Very noticeable in the cabin with windows up and no music playing etc.
Could be regenerative braking system bearing?
The sound started suddenly and I can't remember what exactly started it or when it started but got this car CPO march '21 with 36k on it and never heard/noticed it in a year. It kind of sounds like a brake pad noise but ill be pressing the brakes a good amount while accelerating and the noise remains. Thinking of taking to the dealer but I know they're full of baloney and say it'll be a normal noise or say they can't reproduce it.
