  1. Due to an unexpected circumstance that has Ford buying back my 2014 Fusion Energi, I now have my recently purchased set of 19" Titanium H-Spoke wheels and tires for sale. These were new take-offs that I bought from the big eBay seller in Michigan about 3 1/2 months ago. They now have 3,300 miles of use on them. The condition is excellent. 2 wheels have a tiny scratch near the lug nut area from the seller where it looks like a socket touched the rim but it is only noticeable if you are looking from about 12 inches away. No scratches from my use, no curb hits, etc. Really great condition. I had not planned to sell these but now that my FFE is going back to Ford I had to return the car to stock and I am not planning on another FFE, at least not right away. I thought I would offer these to the community before I put them on eBay. Priced for quick sale - $1550 shipped using fedex ground. Setup is exactly as I received them, with OEM TPMS. This is a really great upgrade for the FFE, somehow these lower profile tires have better ride quality and lower road noise than the stock 17" Michelins, as well as looking great on the car. Fitment is perfect, or course being OEM parts. Here are a few pictures. I can send more/higher res via email if interested. Just pm me. Thanks for looking!
  2. The lower road noise was an unexpected surprise for sure, but a really nice one!
  3. Thought I'd add to this thread since I am having a similar problem. At about 5,000 miles, suddenly my late-build 2014 Energi started making a “clunk” at low speeds, like parking lot speeds, at throttle tip in after the brakes had been applied. Clearly it was something that was loading and unloading from brake and engine torque. It was only really noticeable in EV mode at first, when driving in "engine on" mode the problem was not really noticeable and it seemed to only occur as speeds <10MPH. So I itemized all this information and took it in to the dealer. They initially dismissed that there was any issue other than “the electric brake noises” and “brake pad chatter”. This misdiagnosis completely floored me so I insisted that they test it again and follow the driving pattern that I had already given them. Then, the problem was replicated, however the tech that did this level of work was booked up so they asked me to pick it up and return it a few days later which I did. The tech inspected the car and believed that a motor mount was defective so this was ordered and installed. This did not fix the problem. The tech still believes that it is a motor mount problem so the dealer plans to replace the other 2 mounts (there are 3 in total). The complication here is that 1 of the 2 remaining mounts is on backorder, has been on backorder since my car was worked on in early August, and is projected to be on backorder until about the middle of September – how this can be possible while new Fusion Energi’s are in continuous production is beyond me. Meanwhile, the problem was getting worse and worse with the noise audible (and felt) at virtually all speeds in either EV or engine mode. When I learned a few days ago that the missing mount would not be delivered for another 2 weeks I reached out to Ford CR on the CMAX energi forum, who immediately connected me (Thanks!) with Ford CR who authorized a loaner rental for 10 days after agreeing with my concern that it would probably not be a great idea to continue driving the car under the existing conditions. So I dropped off the car at the dealer this morning, however the loaner car was a fail due to the dealer-based Hertz rep disappearing right before I walked into his office at 7:28 (they open at 7:30), with a “will return at” clock… set to 8:00! This would have meant being completely late to work so I took the dealer shuttle home and grabbed another car for today’s commute. I’ll sort out the loaner car tomorrow when there is plenty of time to burn. To be fair to the dealer, they have no control over the Hertz office and quickly accommodated my request for a ride home, as well as they want to fix the car as much as I do. They are at the mercy of parts availability, and would certainly had done the mount installation by now had the parts been available. Anyway, for now my 4-month old purchased Energi is sitting at the dealer with a powertrain clunk waiting for parts. I’ll update the post when there is a diagnosis.
  4. I am targeting 35-36psi now. How about your car? I see you also have the same wheels.
  5. It is a little hard to say for sure, but the hit seems to be about 2MPG. My average over about 5,000 miles was 64 and it seems to be settling to about 62 since the wheel change. Well worth it IMO, also whenever the time comes to replace these tires I will get a "green" replacement. I have not tried to have this done, the offset seems to be less than 0.5MPH so I'm not worried about it.
  6. The new set of stickers are going fast, there are less than 3,000 stickers left as of Aug 25.
  7. We have a 2013 C-Max Energi (currently with about 15K miles), we have experienced a CD player failure (dealer replaced it), and a rattle in the headliner (dealer repaired it). Otherwise, it has worked out really well and is a great commuter car. There have been a few software updates for various modules, so I would recommend that you make sure everything is up to date if you decide to buy it.
  8. Looks really great! What ballast did you go with, and how is the HID function working out? Any flickering or balky start up of the HID part? Did you go with internal mounting of the ballast?
  9. Thanks! These are the OEM Ford Fusion wheels and tires that are an option for the non Energi/Hybrid Titanium model Fusion, you can see them on the Ford build a vehicle website. I bought this setup from the eBay seller in Michigan that always seems to have sets of new takeoffs. The tires are Continental SportContact, not sure of the exact model number. They are working very well, though. I am really impressed with the handling and braking improvement, yet no discernible increase in harshness and actually a decrease in road noise. I thought long and hard about getting some aftermarket 19's and there are some really nice and lightweight offerings out there but ultimately I decided to stay with OEM to avoid the offset change and need to go to an 8.5" width rim and 245 width tire.
  10. Thanks for this! I checked my car today and I saw the graphic. However, it is very faint and I probably would never have noticed it were it not for this thread!
  11. That should be a terrific setup! Be sure to post some photos when you are finished with the mods. I would love to retrofit the OEM dual exhaust rear valence onto my car. Even though the IC motor is often not running while I am driving ;) having the dual outlets would still look great!
  12. Thanks, I really like the new wheels and tires. The size of the Fusion really demands something larger than 17" wheels IMO. There is a fuel economy cost, though. It is hard to know the exactly but I would estimate about 2-3MPG with my current tires (which are not low rolling resistance). Still well worth it.
  13. Based on what you have tried with your collision warning, it sounds like your system is not functioning. I have mine turned down to "Low" and it still detects vehicles that are not really in my path as a possible collision. I have never noticed a "U" when I have used adaptive cc and while following a vehicle, however I have never looked for it either. There's no question it is working though. I will check this on my way home tonight!
  14. That is slightly annoying, I hurried my purchase by several months to make sure I obtained stickers, one week after my purchase Ford started offering 0% APR for 60/mo (I got 0.9%), and probably other incentives I don't want to know about... Oh well, I really like the car and I am amazed at the number of Fusion Energies in my area. I see at least one on the road almost daily and that is not counting my neighbor who just brought home a new Grey Fusion Energi SE.
  15. The 19" H-spoke will fit just fine, I have them on my Energi right now and they are working out great. I think the offset is +55mm on this wheel, which is 8" wide. The typical aftermarket offset for an 8" or 8.5 wheel is +35-45mm, this places the wheel further out towards the edge. I was looking at getting some OZ wheels that were 8.5" +45, but that offset was too aggressive for me and would have placed the tire edge about flush or slightly out with the fender lip in the front using a 245 tire.
  16. murphy, do you know it the 16" wheels described in the Fusion Hybrid posts fit on the front of the Energi? I have a 2013 Focus 16" temp spare that I bought for my wife's C-Max Energi that I thought was the same spec as the Hybrid wheel, it fits on the C-Max car fine but it does not clear the front caliper on my Fusion Energi. Steve smith, what vehicle did the 17" temp spare you show come from? Is it on a wheel that fits the 2013+ Fusion bolt pattern? Thanks!
  17. Just installed some 19" H-spoke wheels on my Energi, I thought I'd share the result: Before: After: I got lucky and the TPMS self-calibrated so I did not need to use a TPMS sensor activation tool or the tire deflation method. The other thing I have noticed after a brief drive is that the Continentals on the new wheels have less road noise than the original Michelin's, a lot more grip, and a very smooth ride with no increase in harshness that I can detect. The new setup is 7 pounds heavier per wheel, not too bad IMO. We'll see how fuel economy is affected. Next is some window tint. I would love to also revise the suspension with lower springs and firmer shocks but the current aftermarket offerings for springs are too low for my taste and there are no shock options yet. I'm hopeful that Ford will introduce an Energi version of the Mondeo eventually and if that happens then the euro calibration would likely be just right - slightly lower, slightly firmer.
  18. I haven't checked my rear fender liner, but my late build 2014 has P225/50R17 tires. I think the Tire Rack website is in error.
  19. I don't think that the larger issues are worker-related. When I was shopping this car, I was amazed at the poor hood stamping at the forward edges where they meet the fenders/bumper, the curves are not even close although some cars seem to be better than others. I work for a competitor auto company and have participated in pre-production vehicle quality audits and we would never have accepted such poor fits. On the other hand, here I stand having bought the car anyway knowing full well about it so maybe Ford is on to something...lower cost panel stampings to save money so that content can be added elsewhere and keep the cost at a reasonable level...or, maybe it was just that the Energi was the best option in a very small selection pool. I do like my car a lot though, and sales of Fusion Energi's in my area seem very strong. I wonder how this will maintain when all the competitor plug-in hybrids roll out over the next year or two..
  20. I have had this same issue occur with my wife's C-Max Energi (one time), and with my Fusion Energi (also, one time). What happened to me in both instances was that we were driving along normally in Auto mode with plenty of battery range remaining, and while staying within the range of power request for EV the vehicle suddenly derated the EV power limit showing on the Empower screen from the full amount to about 2 bars - all the while showing that EV battery driving range was available. In the case of the C-Max, it was a fairly cool day and I was driving very moderately with just the 2 of us in the car. When this happened, I received repeated "engine enabled for system performance" messages as we drove along with the engine running and the car in EV mode. The incident with the Fusion occurred last weekend, it was a warm (88-90 degF) day, and the car was fully loaded with 4 adults and one child. I was driving fairly briskly up a slight grade but staying under the EV max limit, and then suddenly the power limit changed to 2 bars, and the engine started. I did not get any warning message this time, the vehicle just shut off EV and gave me IC. In the drive back later that day, everything was normal again. I imagine that there is some battery temperature protection scheme in place that is doing this, but I can't imagine why it happened for the C-Max case. I mentioned it to the dealer when the C-Max was in for CD player replacement, and I even had photos of the screen and messages that I provided, but they and Ford tech support basically said "it's normal" with no explanation as to why it may have occurred.
  21. That is a great price. Their quote to me was a little higher than Flood, who seem to be the lowest cost right now (at least for the 5 and 6 year premium care plans I am looking at...)
  22. Good idea. There are a couple of car pool lanes that were converted to toll, I do not drive there often but it would be great if I could drive in those lanes for free!
  23. I figured as much... I would not have even given it a second thought if we did not also own a C-Max that had the lighting. There are so many features on the Fusion that the lack of the lighting seems like a strange omission though.
