  1. Deleted... the company that says they can update has a lot of negative comments.
  2. Wow Russael... that sounds rough! I was told that TSB14-0096 superseded TSB 13-5-28, so they applied the later one. Go times verified working tonight. I have not had it back long enough to see if there are any ill effects from this update but I will poke around a bit. Mine was an early production model so it probably had some different software than you did. It took them 2 tries to update the SYNC system but that seems up to date now and the communication issue that I had with MyFord Mobile seems to have cleared up. Now I just have to put my custom logo back, reprogram all my fav destinations, & call lists. Wish I would have been smart and wrote some of that stuff down.
  3. Thanks Jeff! I will follow up with the dealer on this, but I notice on your work order that the car was drawing power? I get nothing. The system seems to completely ignore it.
  4. Adding a couple thoughts. My purchase was not really economics, especially the first year (2013) as the price tag was pretty high and has dropped considerably from there. For the most part I just really liked the car and I wanted an electric car but was not ready to limit myself to 70 or 80 mile range and did not want to drop the kind of money required for the Tesla. I cross shopped the Volt and liked it somewhat, but it was not a good fit for me. I really liked (still do) the technology in the car. As much as MFT can be frustrating (Gen 2 -- the new ones are much better) it is still the best infotainment system that I have purchased that was was OEM. HD radio, bluetooth stereo, and USB music is great... I let my sirius subscription go as I did not need it anymore. The Honda is probably similar to this now though.Driving Assist -- I ticked all the boxes on my order so I have BLIS, Park Assist, ACC, Collision Alert & Lane Keeping. While the lane keeping and park assist are either not used or used much (I never use park assist and only use lane keeping on trips) I absolutely LOVE adaptive cruise control. Once you try this you will never want to go back to the old style cruise again. I still check the mirrors for cars in my blind spot... but I like the BLIS system to confirm that I am really clear to move lanes.Another thing not mentioned is that this car has a bunch of screens that help you maximize your driving efficiency. You can find thread after thread of people on here doing everything they can think of to squeeze just one more mile of range out of the car... it is fun and addictive. Even to people who formally hit the accelerator at the light and dusted everyone there (like me). I also really like the styling of the car... it is a looker. There was a huge multi page thread early in the life of this forum where the members went after the topic of economics of hybrids & plugins vs gas cars. Lets just say there are strong feelings on the topics and if you put it to a spreadsheet you can justify the cost with enough considerations... in the end though, what is it worth to you? I am firmly in the camp that a car is not an investment. While it has some utility it also is an emotional purchase which has very different drivers for each purchasor. My main drivers were the new PHEV technology experience and aesthetics, although when gas approached $4/gal the whole not going to the gas station every week was real nice too. In the end what gives you value? Drive both vehicles and see which one makes you happy. 3 years into this vehicle and I am still happy with my purchase. My previous vehicle was a 2006 Acura TL and this is my first Ford / American brand purchase.
  5. Murphy has an excellent write up of his battery replacement. You can find it here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1258-the-bxt-99r-390-is-a-standard-car-battery/?p=7276
  6. Just back from the dealer... this is a function that I have not tried before, but did about 3 weeks ago and the car just ignores my request. The car is plugged into a 240v charger in the garage... it is about ~50 degrees in the garage. I have set the go times from both the web and directly from the car. I checked on the car 30, 15, 10 minutes before my go time as well as the time it is suppose to be ready... nothing. At first the dealer told me it worked... I stuck around while my car charged (another frustration... I asked them to put it on the charger right away... they said they would...) and after waiting around 2 hours for the car to charge and miss the go time admitted he really didn't know much about the system, they are going to try and call the Ford hotline. I looked through the TSB section, but I do not see this topic but maybe I missed it? Early 2013 model. Any help appreciated. On another note... I also had the MFT system update put on there while I was there and the website no longer communicates with the car. I asked them to do a hard reset (remove the neg on the battery), any other possibilities? Really wish Ford service knew more about their vehicles.
  7. Well the cold weather means the battery has less capacity, and it already seems to struggle for anything past basic usage... it is a pretty small battery. If you want to sit in the parking lot listening to the radio it is best to just leave the car on (big battery engaged). Battery only lasting a year does seem excessive even for the small battery. My comment was just that the saving the battery message did not mean the battery was about to die or mine would have over 2 years ago when I first saw it.
  8. Not necessarily. I have been getting that message, inconsistently, since I have owned this car. I had the dealer load test the battery, passed. And double checked it at a battery store... passed but weak... probably about a year left was their guess. My plan is to replace the battery eventually with something a little better than the OEM. MyFord Mobile has a low battery warning (never received a message on this), but I seem to recall one user complained that by the time you get that message it is probably too late. I have a meter plugged in my power outlet and just keep an eye on it... have a hard time getting rid of a functional battery even though I do not trust it.
  9. More cool battery tech. (like that pun?) Does not directly help with the range, but still neat to see all the advancements in this area. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3021019/hardware/researchers-develop-a-lithium-ion-battery-that-wont-overheat.html

Welcome to the forums! Maybe tell us a little bit about yourself or why you chose to buy a PHEV? There is a lot of great information on this site... dig around with the search feature... but if you can't find what you are looking for just ask. Hope you enjoy your car as much as I enjoy this car.
  11. The threshold might be too high, but that battery seems too small. Forget sitting in the car too long after you stop to finish listening to the radio or talk on the phone without leaving the car on... which I guess is okay, just had to get use to not turning the car off.
  12. I have the same issue. Hopefully after the holidays they will get it straightened out. I think that we have such a low volume of cars that it was missed on the early energis.
  13. You can also hear the connection being made or disconnecting. When you plug in next time, listen. You will hear a click-clunk. Then the charge ring will start blinking. If you want to hear it disengage, just grab the plug and hold the trigger. You will hear that click-clunk again and it will stop charging... then pull it out. The system is designed to not complete the circuit until the charger and the car communicate. From the manual: There is a cord acknowledgment feature that will be activated when a charge cycle is initiated. The four light quadrants will each individually flash clockwise starting with the top right light and ending with the top left, two full times confirming a charging coupler has been detected.
  14. Cars have manuals? Who would have guessed?! I do the same thing. But I have learned way more from coming to this site then I ever would have gleaned from a manual.
  15. Thanks Russael, I think I will just wait... I prvt messaged FordIVTteam to see if there is any effort to understand why our systems show up to date on the SYNC Software Updates page.
  16. Any chance on posting the file on this forum so we don't have to create an id on the hybrid forum to access attached documents? Would be nice if Ford could figure out why a lot of us are showing up to date at 3.6.2. (Checked again just now)
  17. Unfortunately it still shows up as up to date with v3.6.2. Maybe just will take a while longer to roll this update out to all of the vehicles through the syncmyride site? Your SYNC is up-to-date!Now, you're running the fastest, simplest and best version of SYNC
  18. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new ride.
  19. My rate is 10.22 cents per kWh after all the taxes and fees. Consider myself pretty lucky.
  20. Looks like another demo period is starting on Thursday. Listen Free November 19 - December 2. No Strings Attached. We've turned on your inactive radio so you can enjoy 60 FREE channels for 2 weeks.
  21. I think I had this happen to me today, kind of freaked me out. Almost 36,000 miles on the car first time I have felt this.
  22. I do not think Ford even recognizes this as an issue. The last time I was in for service I inquired again, there was no known solution. Things that seem to make it reset... Anytime the system shuts down to conserve powerAnytime the system crashes, um I mean perform scheduled maintenanceI think it also resets if you change the source a number of times, but not sure. This problem is annoying, but nearly as annoying as turning off the AC compressor on the 2013 model (I think this is no longer an issue on the later models).
  23. Wow. If I drove that much, I would want a nice comfortable car as well.
  24. If you get a slightly used ELR, most of the depreciation hit will have already have happened. You will still have to find a buyer for the car though when you decide to move on. If you don't mind dropping 80K on a car, why not a slightly used Tesla with the supercharger package? http://www.teslamotors.com/models/preowned/p53322 Resale on the Tesla would be much easier I would think.
