I have also read that if you charge with 110 it will drain. I have not had any issues warming the car to 72 from mid 50s so far. Think it might be another story cooling the car in the summer.

2013 Fusion Energi Titanium question - Aluminum Pedals?
meyersnole replied to mczajka's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Not sure if you knew this, but if you click the share symbol next to the post number you can get a link to that post: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/51500-shipping-eta-tbd/?p=834166 I don't really miss the shiny pedals, but the driver side mat is crap. Not sure what I am going to do about that yet. -
Congratulations on your sticker Fusion!

Got the screen protector and installed it tonight. Little bit of a pain to install, 8" to keep perfectly clear of dust and all. I am reasonably happy after 20 mins of fussing with it. It does not completely eliminate the finger prints, but does seem to be an improvement. I will snap a picture tomorrow during the middle of the day. I will also come back in here and post my experience with it after a week or so of using it.For less then $20 I am reasonably happy with it. Never really had any glare problems, another problem it claims to solve. But its not summer time yet either.

2013 Ford Fusion Energi: 21 Miles Of Electric Range From Plug-In Hybrid
meyersnole replied to Tucker's topic in Fuel Mileage
I am pretty confident you will be able to get over 21 miles in the right conditions... unfortunately on my first commute to work and back I did not make it completely there and back... at about 2 miles short. Going to have to try it again tomorrow. (Think I got 20 electric miles today -- not bad as I did have a couple bad stops with lights turning on me not allowing a good regen stop). -
newbeetle, which dealer did you go to and place your order?

I put an add in Autotrader and spent the extra 20 to list it in KBB.com I was going to also list it in craigslist, but honestly had a note in my inbox before I even noticed it was posted with a guy who wanted to see my car (3 hours later?). I keep my cars in excellent shape, and did not try for premium dollar so the guy was there for like 45 mins looking at my car but I could tell after the first five minutes it was sold. When I listed the car the average price for a car that was similar to mine I took the avg (which also happened to be near KBB rating of private sale in Outstanding condition). I could have probably gotten more, but I was happy that I sold it right away and still got about $2,500 - $3,000 over what they would have offered in trade. This is a good area for selling cars, would highly recommend doing it yourself over the dealer. And if you later figure out its not your thing you can always take it carmax if you change your mind. Message me if you want any advice. Good luck!

P225/50/R17 Looking at the technical specs for the hybrid and energi, there is almost exactly 300 pounds difference between the cars. (3,615 vs 3,913 lbs) then add the additional unsprung weight (greater affect) and you have some numbers that you might be concerned with. It would be nice if they put out an explanation on why the choice is limited. Even if it is just this is a low production car and we don't want to do it. Just remember that if you change the specs and something fails that they can absolve themselves from the problem.

Yes there is a delay. Ha! I have not tried to unlock or start the car, would probably just use the fob for that. The application is pretty basic, like you said open or lock car, stat car. Battery and Tire pressure status. Location Charge Settings (value vs charge now) plus go times for climate control while plugged in. So far all I have done is set up the weekly go schedule. Oh, and current charge status... which I do check on. Its nice to see estimated charge times and range.

EnergiManta -- I wonder if we bought from the same dealer? University Ford in Durham?

Residential Charging Stations -- Now what?

I feel for you plugedin! I am walking on cloud nine this weekend. Here is hoping you get great news soon. -
Residential Charging Stations -- Now what?
meyersnole replied to meyersnole's topic in Batteries & Charging
I signed up for a chargepoint card the other day, and as part of the registration it asked where I worked (so they could bug them to install a charger!). I hope that works. There are no local incentives in North Carolina, and given the current politics I do not expect any soon. I would still qualify for the Federal one though. -
Good luck PlugMeIn!

Residential Charging Stations -- Now what?
meyersnole replied to meyersnole's topic in Batteries & Charging
I updated the top post with this comment: I have my new car in the garage for the weekend and am living with the L1 charger. So far this is working out well. Still only a short time, but not once have I had a problem where the car does not have enough charge to get me where I want to go. So, you may want to try the included charger before going through this expense. I may still go forward with the L2 charger, but for now I am not in any rush to get this done. -
Another consideration that I thought of while discussing my car with a friend is that as you decrease the sidewall the capacity to carry load decreases. That battery has some significant weight to it. This came up in the conversation around I hope that the rear suspension will last due to all that extra weight. I bet that plays a role in the discussion. It would make sense why the Hybrid can still have different sized wheels while the energi is limited to 17s, as it has a much smaller battery. Still guessing though. Having the car, I do not hate the wheels at all -- they actually go kinda nice on the car. Given that I will barely be using the brakes, there should not be a lot of dust on them so hopefully they wont be a PITA to keep clean looking.

Will do, its coming by snail mail so not sure how long. Pretty good weekend for me! New car on Friday, put an add for my car Saturday morning, got a call Saturday afternoon to set up an appt to meet Sunday morning... then SOLD! Need to take a vacation day on Monday to take care of all the details and get some rest!

OK... my car has asked me for the second time if I can communicate with it,now I can do a lot more from the Web application.

Not sure how many also follow Blue Oval Forums. I think they are affiliated and I know they point to this forum so I hope it is okay to point back. Mods please let me know if I am breaking any rules. One thing I have notices about my new car is that you will be touching that screen for Nav / Phone / Setup / Climate frequently and it will be covered in finger prints almost immediately. I saw a discussion on blue oval that I think should be brought over here: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/51174-screen-protector-for-mft/ I ordered the Triple A one specifically for the finger prints. I plan to add window film to the windows, but I do not seem to have any glare problems yet. (Not Summer though either). Good luck Scooter. I looked at MyFord just before coming here. Another strange decision they made was to not allow any of the vehicle management (climate or charging settings) from the web page, only from the app. I was happy to see this morning that my car is calculating that I have 23 miles of electric range based on the past few trips that I have taken with the car.

Actually twice. Once right away, then once 24 hours later. What I can't figure out is what its using to communicate? Do not have it on my home's Internet yet. Built in cell service?
-
OK... so I had the app downloaded ready for my car and could not get the thing to work last night, communications error or something. A trip over to the CMAX forum straightened me out this am. It appears there are 2 MyFORD apps now, so make sure when you download your app you look for the one that says PLUG-IN HYBRID after it. Otherwise you would be downloading the one for the EV and it wont work. There are also 2 sites that look exactly the same on the home page, make sure you register to the correct one! http://phev.myfordmobile.com/content/mfm/en_us/site/login.html You want the one that starts with phev not bev. Even if you do not have a smart phone, you can do some of the functions from the web account.

I thought I remembered someone else getting one earlier, just could not find the post.

Not downhill, but pretty optimal conditions and I was working it for range. Speed limit was 65 and I was doing 59 kinda thing. When I hit the secondary roads there was no traffic and kept it around 55 until the last 5 miles where I was doing 45. Got a few perfect brake regen scores and one as bad as 84 %. And of course I was a bit cold with the heater off.

Thanks! So, you are right I am pretty limited and overwhelmed with all of the different features of this car. Here are some initial thoughts: The climate control makes a HUGE difference in the range of the battery. I thought it was the highway from my test drive, but I took the highway home (albeit slower -- kept it under 62 (figured Ford picked that number for a reason)) and seemed to do much better. If you are going to merge into the highway and you think you might need some acceleration then do yourself a favor and select the hybrid mode before you get on the ramp -- still a lag but at least when the engine kicks in you will feel like the car has a little scoot. This car is about efficiency not acceleration, especially when compared to my Acura TL. When I tried to merge in EV only mode you had a steady gain in speed, but I would call it moderate at best. Nothing I am concerned with, just something I will need to get use to. Driving home in the dark I got to see the auto high beams work -- pretty cool. I still don't trust the adaptive cruise yet... but did get that to work a few times and think I am really going to like it. I am driving with 3 bars, but might switch that to 4 until I learn to trust it a little more. I kept hitting the brakes. There are so many things in the car to mess with I was pretty distracted. Even with studying the forums and watching all the videos there is a lot to set up and learn, so I will probably have many more thoughts later. Finally got the my ford mobile app to work this morning -- dealer tried to set it up but again some of the pain of going first it did not go so well. I will post that experience and tips in the right place in the forum. Ha! I should have paid more attention to the charging times. I am pretty sure I plugged it in around 9:30p and around 1am the web was telling it would finish at around 2:45a I think. I think its like your phone. Plug it in at night and it will be ready by morning. A L2 charger really is not necessary, but getting one anyway.
