I would not go by my dealer... I was told the parts department had a letter from Ford. But they also told me the 2G modem upgrade was just a software fix. Eventually got it figured out. Hopefully someone gets a better answer and posts it here.

Agree that adaptive cruise is well worth the money, and I may not purchase a particular car if it does not offer that feature. I have the park assist which I have not really used, but enjoy the front sensors that this function allows the car to have. Allowing you to detect objects in the front as well as rear of the car when maneuvering. It is odd how satisfying driving around on electricity with out the vibration of the motor or averaging over 40mpg driving 75 on the highway.

Ford Issues Two Safety Recalls in North America
meyersnole replied to FordSuperNewsTicker's topic in Ford Super News Ticker
I called today and was told that parts will not be available until 2Q 2017 and I would get an official letter from Ford when ready. They did not mention the conformal coating treatment, stated that the parts department had a letter from Ford stating that the parts for this are not available. -

There are 2 topics in this thread. The map update on an SD Card which you would have to pay for, and a SYNC update (if available) that you would download and install (free). https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/software-updates/how-to-install-sync-with-myford-touch-updates-in-your-vehicle.html?year=2013&model=Fusion%20Energi&sync=myTouch

My Dealership is telling me this is just a reprogramming... no part to replace. Not even sure where to start with them. I tried calling the customer satisfaction number listed in the letter but it seems like waste of time and bailed during the information collection phase of the call. Guess I will just make multiple trips to the dealership. At least they are addressing the issue of installing a modem that is no longer supported, I just wish the dealers knew a little more about their cars.

Check cwstnsko's post above. http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/4348-strange-new-chargingmfm-problem/?p=26828 I went to owner.ford.com and found the FSA listed for my car! Yeah Ford! FSA Title: EMBEDDED MODEM REPLACEMENTField Service Action Number: 15N04 I called my local dealer and confirmed that they will be replacing the model, just need to see if they have the part in stock. Basically the issue is that the cell companies are phasing out 2G communication, so if you are getting sporadic communication with your car then you are driving in and out of areas that still have 2G service. It will be gone everywhere by the end of the year. On another topic, my home security system also had one of these 2G modems and it had to be replaced... If you have a security system that is using cell as either the primary or backup you might want to test your system!

I do not know what modem is on the 2015 Fusion, but my 2013 has a 2G modem on it and it stopped working in large areas several months ago (one of those areas being home). By the end of November I think it will no longer work anywhere.

Ford Doctor... I agree with you. As a programmer there are many things about the SYNC system that are troublesome. I still enjoy the system and the availability to play my music on random mix. The only realistic work around I could propose is to connect your phone by bluetooth and use it to play the album rather than the stereo/usb drive.

2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid vs 2017 FFE Platinum
meyersnole replied to pauldz's topic in Competing Products
jeff_h, I am in more or less the same boat as you. I got one of the very first cars off the line... mine even sat in the desert for a month and went through an extra round of testing. There were many little things that I addressed under the warranty that I might have lived with had I not known through this forum that a TSB was available. For the most part I have been happy with this car save 2 things. The battery degradation and depreciation. My last 3 cars were BMWs and an Acura, and even 7 years later the cars could be easily sold for about 50% of what I paid for them. The depreciation on this vehicle is unreal. Having said that, I am enjoying the car and will continue to drive it...so the value is not a real problem, just a disappointment. Not sure I will buy another Ford though as the depreciation is concerning. -
Did anyone else notice the OEM tires for the Energi are changing?
meyersnole replied to Fat Fusion's topic in Tires & Wheels
I have about 42,000 miles on my 2013 and still above the wear lines but the tires are starting to make noise... probably going to replace them soon. Pretty impressed how long they have lasted. -
Early on this car had sales in the 100's, there were only 6,000 sold in the first year. When this map was created it was a way to see if there were any other energi near you.

That is the the one! Link works directly.

Maybe not the right link?

There was a google map that you could record your car location, think there were hybrid Fusions on there as well. This was back in 2013 and I am having trouble finding it now.

2G seems to be gone in my area. Will talk to dealer next time I am there, but do not have high hopes. Very disappointing. The use of a 2G modem (Chevy was advertising on board LTE at that time) and an analog modem connection when updating your health report makes you wonder if the IT department at Ford is stuck in the 1990s.

Pretty sure that 2G no longer exists in my neighborhood. I consistently get update failed, try again later from My Ford Mobile. Will have to check with the dealer. The ATT site says that they will phase out 2G by December. https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1069631

Have to say it does seem like there could be much more interest in this space if the automakers truly wanted to pursue. At scale the prices would drop and performance has shown to not be an issue anymore. Range is still an issue, but infrastructure investment could solve that. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1105366_automakers-not-even-trying-to-sell-electric-cars-tesla-says
