Chevy Volt compared to Fusion Energi?
meyersnole replied to howardbc's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I have not taken my car on a trip yet, but the mileage will suffer there. Also if you want to drive faster you might want to put the car into EV Later (especially above the 62 mph mark -- I chose 62 because that is Ford's magic number for their hybrid and I am guessing that they picked it for a reason). -
2013 Ford Fusion Energi: 21 Miles Of Electric Range From Plug-In Hybrid
meyersnole replied to Tucker's topic in Fuel Mileage
I think if you keep it in EV Auto, that over time it will learn your route and become more efficient with it. If you have enough charge to make it the whole way then it will probably keep that behavior. At least that is the way I understand it is suppose to work. -

Let us know what you do there. I would also be interested to know if that means you would show up on plugshare or chargepoints network... I can see it now a knock on the door at 10pm.. Can we hook up for just an hour? -
2013 Ford Fusion Energi: 21 Miles Of Electric Range From Plug-In Hybrid

Let the games begin! I like the idea of dropping some weight! Will be interesting to see if that buys you anything. I hope to not find out for some time, as I want to see how long its going to take me to get fuel. Need to work on getting that L2 charger though. -
This is an article written for the volt, but it applies and interesting... http://www.mychevroletvolt.com/chevy-volt-energy-usage-charging-on-240v-vs-110v and some more data courtesy of the Tesla fans http://www.saxton.org/tom_saxton/2010/07/tesla-roadster-charging-rates.html Please note while more efficient it wont save you enough to offset the charger... just another reason to justify it!

Fusion Energi Forum Changes
meyersnole replied to Fusion Energi Guide's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
thank you for the forum! Looks like the link to the SYNC forum is not currently working. -
Congratulations on getting scheduled!
-
If you find that again can you point out where? I just read that whole section again (starting page 336) and could not find what you were referring.
-
Yeah... I guess you have to take into consideration the model change. I just thought it odd to see my dealer get 6 Energi in the pipeline and the one I had on order still unscheduled clean after 9 weeks.
-
I wrote that incorrectly. I meant to say the car does not appear to have a build date yet. Yes, it was unscheduled clean in about the same time period.
-
I went to the dealership on Friday morning to get my mud guards installed, unfortunately they ordered the wrong ones (previous gen Fusion). However, I am working with sales person to get these installed and heard from him that they left my original order as is, so I continue to check on it with the inventory tool. It is amazing to me how long it takes to order a car. This is the first time I have tried to do this, but is this normal? I ordered January 21st, and from what I can tell the car is not showing up as ordered by the dealer. I can understand why this was happening back in Jan and before. But now that the line is moving, I would have thought 8-10 weeks to get a car ordered was about the right time line. It will be interesting to keep following this to see how long it would have taken. Coming up on week 9 Monday. Edit: I really feel for all of you still waiting because you were not lucky enough to have a viable option at your dealership! Here is hoping all of your builds pass my order.

Just went to the SYNC forum and this seems to be a very common issue. Looks like they have an architectural issue with the way they build their index. Guess the programmers there don't have a lot of songs on their iPods. Hopefully a fix will come in time.
-
Edit: I think I have solved my issue, it took about 2 hours to sync again and seems to be working much better now. The system still seems to struggle with a large library, but seems stable for now. I have about 8,400 songs in my library. Apparently the software does not like any errors or missing information in the tags, so there is some software for iTunes that can resolve this called sync my iTunes (found here: http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/UpdateCenter/UpdateCenterLanding.aspx) So I added the drive to my iTunes library then ran the tool against it and it found 437 things it did not like. My index is going MUCH faster then last time -- still going so not out of the woods yet, but very hopeful. OK, I have been playing with my new hard drive that I spoke about in my other post Stuff for the car... and I think this drive has made the system unstable. The thought was to have my whole music collection in the car (just over 8400 songs -- and growing), and I was originally hopeful that the system would support FLAC (it does not) as that is how I listen to music in the house. (as an aside, for those who like to listen to music and are still popping CDs into a player because they don't like the sound of compressed music -- check this out!). So I should put this together sooner that 3 hours to index 8400 items was more then just a slow processor, I just was not sure what was going on. Now I suspect they just didn't put much RAM in the system. I also see now that the system is Windows, as I got a Segmentation Violation and boom brought the whole system down. I have also noticed that the whole system has been running sluggishly the past week -- I will confirm after I pull the drive that things are back to normal. My next plan is to keep 3 or 4 16G USB jump drives and just swap them out depending on what I want to hear. Disappointed. Just wanted to post this before someone else made the same mistake.

The Lincoln might be the same frame, but it is not the same car. The suspension setup will be different, and the car will be designed around the 18s.

Chevy Volt compared to Fusion Energi?
meyersnole replied to howardbc's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Get the Titanium! It is the only way to get keyless entry and push button start ;) Seriously, they both have their advantages... if a black interior is a deal breaker then SE is your only choice. Unfortunately I think that if you want cloth seats your going to have to step down to the hybrid. -
Not a fan of the prepaid maintenance plan either. I bought it once before and 1 year into the deal the dealer stopped accepting my "coupons". I was like I paid good money for this...and the dealer said that was with the previous dealership, this one changed hands. What am I going to do, they had my money already. Even if not, now you have tied yourself to that dealer, what if you move? Or what if you find a local mechanic that you want to use? Besides, your new car is only going to require an oil change every 10,000 miles or 1 year per factory recommendation. How many of those miles are going to be with the engine anyway? Do yourself a favor and skip that too. This is a good read on the subject: http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/prepaid-maintenance-plans.html As far as the paint sparkling, for the kind of money the dealership is charging find yourself a good detailer. For about $100-$150 you can get an excellent interior / exterior detail. I am talking cleaned, clayed, double waxed and sealed. Then they will move to your interior where they will clean and shampoo the carpets and treat your leather seats. Then just do a $35 -$50 exterior wax with the same dude at the 6 month interval. Your car will look way better 5 years from now then anything that bottle of sealant will do. And you will have your interior looking new too!

Chevy Volt compared to Fusion Energi?
meyersnole replied to howardbc's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
Hi Howard -- first you are on a Fusion energi board, so realize that the opinions here are likely to be skewed in a particular direction. My suggestion is for you to drive them both, as both are wonderful cars. I really wanted the Volt to work, there are a lot of positives. Positives for the Volt It cheaper when you factor in the rebate ($7500 vs $3751 for the energi) The Volt is designed from the ground up as an extended electric vehicle. (does not have a battery in the trunk) The Volt has twice the electric range that the energi has The Volt feels very refined when you drive it having said all that, at 6' I felt very cramped in there and forget about the backseat for adults unless you are talking about very short rides. I think it was also missing a sunroof as an option. After driving the Volt, and I really wanted it to work, I decided this probably was not the car for me. I actually ended up seriously considering the new Toyota Avalon hybrid against the Fusion. Had they had the model in stock that I wanted, I actually may have actually pulled the trigger. I am really happy I waited and went with the energi though. As far as how you can configure the Fusion here: http://bp3.ford.com/2013-Ford-Fusion?branding=1&lang=en#/ChooseYourPath/ -
Thanks FusionEnegi -- I have been struggling with should I get these, I am glad I hesitated. Thanks for the review.

pluggedin - Not a fan of dealers that create packages like that and tell you it is mandatory. Even if they are using quality product, which most of the time the do not, they have built in quite a profit margin for themselves. (I had a very high end film installed for less then $350 that has a lifetime transferable warranty.) Check out page 16 of this presentation: http://www.nclc.org/images/pdf/conferences_and_webinars/auto_webinars/presentations/presentation_sept16.pdf Not sure if you can do anything about it at this point or not, but if you look around you can probably find someone to do tint on your vehicle for $100. And if you inquire about the paint protection you are probably going to find out it is some kind of sealant. If that is the case, they are probably putting about $20 worth of product on your car. You might want to poke at this a bit before you sign. Edit: If they are putting a 3M paint protection film on the car, then the price is justified. Still not a fan of mandatory, but at least you are getting value.

2013 Ford Fusion Energi: 21 Miles Of Electric Range From Plug-In Hybrid
meyersnole replied to Tucker's topic in Fuel Mileage
Actually I am close enough to work to where I can stay EV the whole way, so I am trying to avoid running ICE all together. Today I ended up taking a trip to the dealer (for nothing it turns out) and then out to lunch, and then home. So I burned a little gas and brought my lifetime down to 110 MPGe. Seems like it would be hard to deploy that technique anyway, as you would have to force ICE to start with EV Later, then go to Auto or EV Now at every light. If that was a good practice then you would think that EV Auto would do that as a normal operation. -
Fusion Energi Wheels offset and width/ H-spoke 19'

You might want to check out the 2 page thread right below this one. The short answer is no, nobody knows why the 18s or 19s are not offered as options for the energi. -
