Ford's Leviton 240 volt charging station
meyersnole replied to Taylorjd's topic in Batteries & Charging
I am pretty sure that even if you get the bigger charger, its only going to pull what it can use so you will never pull the 7.2 load (with the Fusion anyway). Most people here are looking at the larger level 2 chargers thinking that this will not be there last electric car and the next one may benefit from the larger capacity. -
Great news on getting your car tomorrow! I debated the protection plan but decided against it. I picked up my mud guards today and remembered that I forgot to get wheel locks, so I have to add that to my list.

The difference in my home electric bill was....

Yes... I walk into the garage all the time and hear the car making noise. Pretty funny how that works... a normal car is quiet in the garage and noisy on the street. Our cars are noisy in the garage and quiet on the street! -

Looks like I was empty, this morning I read 7.30 kWh, and I know I was completely empty this time. -
Wow, that is impressive. I don't think I could get anywhere close to 30 miles. The other day I did roll into my garage with 2 miles on the range (most ever) traveling about 21 miles. I think the part of my drive where I get up to 60 mph kills some of my range. I normally drive with the eco cruise too and my coaching screens are very good. The only thing that is not near the top is cruising, and that is probably just due to speed. How fast do you think you were going most of the trip? Wow, 30 miles!

Picked up my Energi last Friday! Observations so far ...

Hi Bobbie, Yes this car is feature rich, or as I like to say has all the do dads! It will take you some time to learn what it can do. I have had the car about a month now and with the help of this forum feel pretty comfortable with it. There is a LOT of information already in the forum which you might be able find with the search function, or post a question in the related sub topic and you will probably have your answer in a few hours. Let me see if I can get you started though. The battery technology is still fairly young, so the weight and cost is a trade off for range. Depending on where you drive, highway will yield fewer miles then city miles, and how you drive the computer will guess at how many miles you can achieve. I think most of us are getting right around the 20-21 miles in mixed driving. Once you turn on the heat or A/C the range will drop some. There are screens that will show you what mode you are in and if the how efficient you are. There is a post in here with a link to videos demonstrating the functions here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/442-good-videos/?hl=video Welcome again to the forum looking forward to interacting with you! -
I have a little spreadsheet that I made to calculate MPG expectations, and you are pretty close to EPA ratings driving 65-70 mph. If I count electric at 100 MPGe and Gas at 41, the spreadsheet pops out 53.39mpg. As 47minutes points out this car is really designed for those of us with shorter commutes. Its a big car with a big battery. You are comparing the energi to the hybrid which is not really fair. The longer your commute becomes, the more the hybrid start to make sense over the energi. My commute is 22 miles, and if all I do is drive back and forth to work I burn no fuel. With short little side trips (my norm) I usually pull into the driveway burning less then .05 gallons of gas. I have had the car a month, put over 700 miles on it and have burned about 2.5 gallons, making this car ideal for me. If I had your commute and I was getting over 50 mpg in a car as nice as the fusion I still think I would be pretty happy.

Checked mine this AM, but now that I think of it I am not sure if I was completely empty or not (I know I was at least very close). So reset the killawat again to check in the AM. Here is what I got from 120v charging: 7.33 kWh Rate: .10406 $0.76 That will get me about 22 miles. In my Acura that would have cost me slightly over 1 gallon of premium, or just over $4. Happy EVing! :shift: -

I remembered to reset my killawatt tonight, now I just need to remember to look at it tomorrow. -
2014 MY Fusion changes are out...

The air conditioned seats almost had me buy the Avalon hybrid.... Would have loved to have had them on this car, especially with the black interior. Wonder if they are going to play with the battery chemistry on the hybrid/PHEV like Chevy has been doing? -
Hey malibu, how about starting your own topic... might get a little better success rather then on page 13 of this thread. If you want to add my vin, its 3fa6p0su2dr232908

Welcome to boards CombsAuthor. Car looks sharp!

That is insane, I think that is the EPA range on a first year Volt (twice the battery capacity). I regularly see 22 or 21, and it seems fairly accurate.
-
My neighbor does that with his Volt, I wonder what that would do to the range though.

There is a Bordeaux SE at Koons in Silver Spring, but it is a SE model. Use the inventory search to look around. Koons in Baltimore has another Bordeaux SE with even more options. There is also one where I got my car in Durham (5 hour drive or pretty cheap flight) and I know they will deal (forget paying over list). The Titanium Bordeaux seems a little harder to find.

If you set the cruise then the keeping your speed will automatically enact the regeneration.

I have a question of how to tell the AC is still on if the light is off? I have not had the pleasure of running the AC yet, while still technically being in the south it really has not been hot enough here to run the system yet.

I am using the included 120v charger, charging everyday, and have been doing so for about a month. Just yesterday I logged into the power website to see what my usage was as I did not install a killawatt or anything. I might do that for a charge, as I have one that will read 120v. Anyway, I was surprised to learn that my usage was higher a year ago then it was this past month. So I guess you wont see a huge jump in your power bill. I used 65 kWh more then the previous month. -

Awesome! Got your car listed yet? -
Yeah... I have seen that sun shade for less, but not the model that makes an accommodation for the lane assist camera.

Diggin the new avatar FusionEnergi. Also please post after a few days if you are getting any fingerprint relief with the DayVue. Will be interesting in the summer time if I will regret not going your route, I was mainly focused on clearing up some of the fingerprints as it was very bad with just the screen. Solid job on applying the film too... how long did it take you?

I have had my car almost exactly 1 month, I have 634 miles on the ODO and have driven 548.5 EV miles. So, I guess my question is when it displays 151 mpg what does that number mean? Dos that mean that I have burned 4.2 gallons of gas to go 634, and they are treating the electric miles as free? If so it is going to be really hard to figure out what the real MPGe is for this car. Given the numbers, this has to be what is going on.
-
I also posted about losing range in the parking lot at work and figured out that another thing that will kill the range is that the cooling/heating system on the battery will run to keep the temp regulated.

Just checking to see if you have previous versions of posts stored anywhere and if you can restore the first post in residential charges now what? to what it was 4/2 before it was corrupted? All links in there are now dead http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/509-residential-charging-stations-now-what/?p=1037
