  1. Indeed, but its not like these are not already pretty low profile tires. How much thinner are you going to make the sidewall, the standard tire is already a 50. Remember that The smaller the sidewall, the stiffer the ride so in addition to weight (most likely) you are also trading ride comfort. You are also adding to the cost of the tire. In the past the tires were very tall, these are not. It was not that long ago that standard tires were 14 and 15 inch. Now 17s are considered too small? In person these tires/rims seem to work well. In my opinion anyway.
  2. If those things are important to you, then you should seriously consider the Lincoln. I mentioned this in another thread, but I really wish Ford would have put the energi model out for the MKZ (they had to know that Chevy was going this route with the Cadillac, they could have beaten them to the punch). I know I honestly would have strongly considered the MKZ energi having come from an Acura TL. However, let me say that I am very impressed with Ford's take on this project. I test drove the Volt first and there is no comparison between the two on the execution of style an comfort (technology and drive I would probably give the edge to the Volt). I was not really happy about the wheels at first, but they are not that bad. The lack of any brake dust makes them easy to clean. What you should really base your choice off of though is your daily commute. If your commute is 15-25 miles per day (or longer if you have access to a charger at work) then the energi is a no brainer. If you are driving a lot of highway miles at speed, and the hybrid makes more sense then strongly consider the Lincoln. Just remember as you dress up the car and add weight you are going to start getting away from the efficiency of these rides. Weight kills mpg, especially unsprung weight (larger rims).
  3. I know that they are different parts because I had to drive out to the dealer twice to get them installed, as they ordered the 2012 model mud flaps the first time.
  4. OK.. washed the car today so I could take pictures of the mud flaps that were installed. Click on the picture to go to full size. As you can see they are not real noticeable. Not sure why these were an option on the Titanium trim!

and one more. They really should have made these standard in my opinion.

  8. Ordered them today... Moved the floor mats from the wish list to the ordered list. Lloyd Mats Luxe Floor Mats ordered today (got 15% off coupon - just give them your email and they will continue to send you offers. Interestingly enough I got a 10% then 12% then 15% all this weekend just by continuing to visit the site). I think these are slightly bigger then factory ones.. they will certainly be more substantial.
  9. OK, that makes sense. Thanks. Anybody care to share their opinion on Lloyd mats?
  10. Still looking for a high quality carpet mat for the car. Anyone seen one that is suppose to fit the energi? All I see is hybrid and FWD listed as choices. Don't feel comfortable blowing 1-2 hundred on mats that may fit. Looking at Lloyd, anybody ordered these before? http://www.autoanything.com/floor-mats/78A4427A0A0.aspx
  11. I only hear it in EV now mode. Not saying it is not happening in other modes, that is just the one that I hear it. Honestly I was not overly concerned about it... but let me know if it is something that I should bring to the attention of the dealer.
  12. Let me know, as I experience similar sounds as well. Not when I release the brake though, but when I start to move forward. Maybe I should ask them about it next time I go in.
  13. FusionEnergi -- are the pictures color accurate? Are the mats brownish? I need to do something about the mats in my car, especially on the drivers side... just not sure about the plastic look. Not happy about the short mat on the drivers side, and if I order after market mats will they fit?
  14. I am very disappointed so far in the NAV system. Very cumbersome so far... my circa 2005 Acura NAV was much easier to use... and that is not saying that the Acura system was great... Hopefully it will get easier as I learn to use it better.
  15. My alarm system is using ATT, and the reception is just fine. I also can communicate with the car from the website, not sure why I didn't get a text. But I also have not had an issue since that one event.
  16. The same techniques that allow you to charge the car in hybrid mode will also return energy to the battery in EV mode. As you coast, the engine is returning a little power to your battery (you will see a little carrot above the battery showing the energy flow) and braking returns even move energy to the battery. If you are getting 28 miles out of the battery then you are doing an excellent job of driving this car.
  17. I feel for you shaggy! It is worth the wait, wonderful car. Your going to be an expert by the time you take delivery of this car. :hi5:
  18. You can not compare a base Fusion hybrid to a base MKZ. Compare them with similar equipment and you will find you are paying a few thousand for the name plate, but you are also getting higher quality materials and items that are not available on the Ford. The list on my Fusion was over $45, would I spend $5K more on a MKZ? Maybe.
  19. Could never own a black car in the south. Too freakin hot here. Not a whole lot of experience with wax products, but I looked up consumer reports thoughts on the topic and they actually think there is quite a difference between brands. I tend to use quality products because if I am going to spend the time (or even pay someone to do it) I want it done right. I tend to like Meguiar and Lexol products.
  20. I actually thought the Volt drove very nicely. Overall and outstanding car that I may have bought if I fit in it better. At 6' I struggled to get comfortable. Had it been a little bigger I would have purchased it over the Fusion for the battery range alone. The Volt really does have a lot going for it, I was just more comfortable in the Fusion. I also think the Fusion has many more amenities then the Volt. The 41 mile electric range would be sweet though. I really wonder what the Cadillac ELR is going be like. Here is an article about 6 new electric / plugins for 2014. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1083492_six-new-plug-in-electric-cars-coming-for-2014 Given how almost all of the Fusion energi's were bought in the Titanium trim, wonder if Ford should have sold the energi as a Lincoln? I know I would have looked at it.
