  1. You might want to take a quick look at the FAQ: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/3040-faq-need-help/?p=19568 The mileage is just a prediction and is based on how you drove the car the last time out. The second question has a link to the discussion of that topic. Hope you are enjoying your car!
  2. Congrats on the new car, I am intrigued by the Bolt, so let us know what you think in 6 months or so... Interesting on homelink... it was available in the first gen Volt, but removed from the options for the second gen I think. There are aftermarket kits that you could install, rear view mirror being the easiest I think (but don't they have some kind of reverse camera in the Bolt's mirror?). I have also seen mods where the buttons were integrated into the ceiling controls. Aftermarket is also an option for sunroof... but I think I could live with out it if the car was good enough... not sure how I would deal with lack of adaptive cruise now... extremely spoiled by that. I also have a hard time not keeping a car for at least 6-7 years. Especially when depreciation is as bad as it has been for the energi... might keep this car longer if it keeps being reliable. I hope there are going to be a lot of electrified choices when I am looking for my next car around 2020-2023.
  3. The other thing to weigh, is if this your gateway car and maybe you might want to invest in a 30A or 40A charger to allow for faster charging of a future vehicle. My charger is a 30A, but will charge no quicker than a 16A because of the onboard charger of the Fusion. However, if I decide I want a Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, etc that can charge at a higher rate I am set and don't have more equipment to buy or more wiring that needs to be run.
  4. I think I found that model on amazon with some reviews... https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B018A6QK7C?psc=1 The similar clippercreek model is about $100 more, but has received a lot of praise on this board. LCS-20
  5. Part stress, part challenge... fun. I somewhat agree with you on this, as I am not nearly as fixated with understanding how the car can be the most efficient, how to squeeze that last .1 mile of electric range, etc. But the journey from there to where I am now was enjoyable and I have learned not just how this car works but (especially with posters like larryh and others) how cars in general work and appreciate what a great car this is.
  6. Not sure what charger you were looking at on ebay. One of the more popular charges mentioned on this board are from Clippercreek https://www.clippercreek.com/ I personally own a Bosch that I am very happy with. https://www.boschevsolutions.com/charging-stations/power-maxbut it was more than the $270 you were looking at.
  7. Went to the tire store today and the guy behind the counter said the stock tire, energy saver, was a better tire than the premier. That the mxv4 has been around forever and was a great tire. I have tried Continentals before and really wished that I had not strayed from the Michelins.
  8. Are there any other experiences here? I am leaning toward the Michelin Premier A/S, but would love to hear from someone who has purchased the tire on this car and their experience. I am almost at 47K on the Energy Savers, and while it has not been a bad tire I think the ride would possibly be improved with a nicer tire.
  9. I started at the dealership near my house and the "salesman" really didn't want to sell me the car. Worse was making fun of people who did buy the cars propagating all the normal stories of range anxiety and how you would never recoup the cost of the extra expense and on and on. Left and came back another day to get someone else, but that dealerships policy was first contact -- that is your sales person. I ended up driving to the next town and wound up with a person who was much more receptive to selling me the car I wanted. I would not say that he was an expert in the car, but he was trying and even followed up with me after the sale to find out about my experiences. Even though that dealership is out of the way, that is my new dealership. Even they suffer from lack of experience with these cars though. Going in for service is always an adventure with at least a few bits of misinformation. I get it, you only have a few of these cars to service...but the service manager does care and has tried to make it right each time. My point is, these issues are still happening and I see no real effort to seriously sell these vehicles. Everyone seems to be putting in minimum effort to be ready in case someone really does decide to push this space. It has been a decade and the cars have not gone away, so that is a good thing. It still feels that outside of Tesla no brand is really interested in this space taking off and being successful.
  10. Toyota Prius Prime buyers misled by dealers; more education needed http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1108282_toyota-prius-prime-buyers-misled-by-dealers-more-education-needed At some point you have to wonder if car companies are afraid of the electrification of vehicles, on one hand they are expanding their experience in designing/manufacturing these vehicles. But outside of Tesla (and maybe Nissan - no experience here) there seems to be a common theme with dealerships steering the public away from these vehicles. It is blamed on poor education, but the Nissan Leaf has been out since 2011, the Tesla Roadster since 2008, and just about every brand is now dabbling in this market. Yes, the EPA standards and California regulations are pushing car makers this way... but I had the opportunity to talk to one person responsible for creating the standard and he stated it was developed in a manner that would allow compliance with out alternative propulsion methodologies (electric/fuel cell/etc). So, even after all these years we have dealerships pushing people away from PHEVs or BEVs then stating there is no interest. Yet, spending just a few minutes on message boards like this you hear over and over how great these cars are and if they only knew sooner. For a while GM was running ads for the Volt (first gen), but they come out with a redesign and do not recall seeing anything more than social media on it.
  11. Samsung SDI Announced Next Generation Battery For 600 km (373 Mile) BEVs, Rechargeable In 20 Minutes! http://insideevs.com/samsung-sdi-announced-next-generation-battery-for-600-km-373-mi-bevs-rechargeable-in-20-minutes/ A lot of vaporware in this article. I do not see where they specify what kind of infrastructure is required for the 20 minute charge, and not expected to ship until 2021 but it is a positive that announcements like this are happening.
  12. If the battery got down to 50% capacity, would it not fail at some point close to that? Once it fails then Ford would have to replace it as long as it was in the power-train warranty period, right? (Capacity, not predicted range) I have learned a lot about batteries since purchasing this car and reading this forum. Would have loved to have had 50% of that knowledge going into the purchase :) Electric car battery warranties compared http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1107864_electric-car-battery-warranties-compared
  13. At just over 46,000 @ 50 degrees my predicted range is around 23/24... but I don't think the predicted range is that accurate as I typically don't travel that far to verify. One of the reasons I say that is a mile down the road I have lost 2 miles off the predicted range, and the majority of my trips are very short. My predicted range was as high as low 30s (when I just used battery) when the car was new. Love getting around 40 mpg (as high as upper 40s if not going too fast or hit a lot of traffic) scooting down 95, with the car loaded down, on my road trips. Road trips are the only time I buy gas. When I am local I rarely go far enough to turn the engine on and when I do it is fractions of a gallon of gas.
  14. Pretty sure the car will not regen in reverse. So you are using the brakes. As Murphy states, the noise is from rust on the rotors. This system is significantly different than non hybrid cars, where the brakes are not used nearly as much. I often get a noise backing out of my driveway, but clears up quickly. And I am parked in the garage.
  15. What is going on with BLIS? False positive or not registering... I really like BLIS and would hate for it to fail.
  16. Mine seems to be right again... never pulled the fuse. I have in the past and just dreaded trying to do it again. Either it takes some time to sort things out or something has been fixed in the way the site processes the data.
  17. She asked me to pull fuse #10 and recheck. I probably wont do it until tomorrow as it is very difficult to get to my fuse box and am a bit sore today from too much gym this week :)
  18. I will PM you... here is a picture from a capture that I just took on myfordmobile site. The battery is at 95%.

  20. Not sure what this means for the Model E. Author seems to be implying that Ford is focusing on start-stop technology but is unable to meet the goals under that strategy. Will be interesting to see what happens with the Bolt, but with cheap gas for the foreseeablee future it will be a tougher sell. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1107598_ford-will-ask-trump-to-cut-fuel-economy-rules-ceo-says-no-demand-for-hybrid-electric-cars?fbfanpage
  21. Mine says 4. Was wondering if that was happening for anyone else. I have noticed that traffic alerts have started working again. I also am able to communicate with the car now anytime I try. :)
