  1. I can not even imagine living with temps being discussed in this topic. When it gets below 20 I am hesitant to even go outside! I would assume that even gas powered cars can struggle when temps drop to the negative teens?
  2. I am usually pretty mechanically inclined, and I could not figure out how to get it back together. Good news is that they all failed the first time they were used (why is that people always grab for those when riding in a car?). I pulled on the driver one a few times just to see if it would pop. Good news is that they seem to be better now -- the replacements have not failed. And you are right, the fix will probably need two trips.
  3. Hi homa2001 For the buzzing sound, I had a similar sound that was driving me crazy... I thought it was on the passenger side somewhere, my wife thought it was on my side somewhere. Finally located the source, my sunglasses in the holder were vibrating. Do you use that storage compartment? Try taking the glasses out and see if it stops. I was able to get the noise to stop by repositioning the glasses.
  4. Maybe, were there any costs associated with the installation of the solar panels? Murphy's point was simple, there is so much confusion about this car out there its just good to keep things clear. I can remember when I first started driving this car and I would drop by the local fast food chicken place every once in the while and would have a conversation with the guy in the window. I think the MPG ran all the way up to 260 something before I took my first of several trips. We spoke in trips to the gas station (x number of miles on the ODO and still on the dealers tank) and not in MPG. It is still very impressive, especially when you explain to them you can drive 20-25 miles on electricity that costs about 75 cents (which use to cost me over $4 for same range in a similar sized car). Thinking of this another way, what if the dealer told you that you could achieve 160 mpg in this car as a selling point? Its true, but not complete information. Oh, and put me in the group that does not look at MPGe (don't care). Just look at MPG. Have not been to the gas station since December (or was that November?).
  5. I understand. My car has been in the garage since Monday (the day it was washed) because we had snow on Tuesday and the roads are full of salt and sand.
  6. Just noticed that there were multiple firmwares for some of these phones tested. So if you are having issues getting some thing to work, maybe you just need to update your phone.
  7. I also use an automatic wash during the Winter, even though it is true that you are risking your badging and swirl marks (much more noticeable on darker color cars). Sorry Russael, do not agree that it is pointless to wash because it gets dirty that same day. You should probably wash your car at least every 3 to 4 weeks to keep the contaminants from damaging the paint (worse then the swirl marks).
  8. Many on here are curious as to what this does to the efficiency... please let us know your observations. Also, pictures are always welcome!
  9. Do not know of one, but if you don't understand something just ask... someone will usually answer pretty quickly.
  10. Nice list, I would also add to this wish list... how about information about ALL of my trips, not just the ones over a threshold.
  11. Hi Dave -- I have text support working on my iphone. To get it to work make sure you follow scooter80's advice here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/818-mft-text-to-speech-and-iphone/?p=3749 Now this support can be a little flaky and take some time work. I had to remove the device and re add it once, and it still took a few days before it started reading my texts. Once it starts working it seems to be solid though.
  12. hello cxt153 and welcome to the site. You might want to start here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1203-how-to-use-this-site-post-photos-your-control-panel-etc/?p=6462 for how to use the features of this site.
  13. I think the comment on the tires was under inflation due to temperature drop (I notice that a lot on the first serious drop in temp that the tire pressure sensors usually go off).
  14. The article said that the data was from the database, so not an average really. Just the data from their users, but you are right with out the demographics it is hard to really understand the data. Still thought it was interesting though.
  15. I saw this article today and thought it might be appropriate to this discussion. Looks like there was a study done on this topic and compares it to similar losses in gas powered cars. http://insideevs.com/infographic-fleetcarma-cold-weather-fuel-efficiency-electric-versus-gasoline-showdown/
  16. A different way to look at the numbers with regard to plug in sales. From Green Car Reports: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1089555_electric-car-market-share-in-2013-understanding-the-numbers-better?fbfanpage
  17. My guess is that you are getting use to the sounds. Only a decibel meter would tell you for sure.
  18. Sorry to hear of your troubles easyv. Keep us informed on what it is... hopefully your back and running soon.
  19. Just to further what FusionDad and Eric4539 said, I also took a trip through the mountains back in September. I used cruise control and grade assist to recapture battery (also going from an empty battery to miles on the gauge). When the decline is steep enough you will get the swirl over the battery without touching the brakes.
  20. About how long did it take to index the 3,100 songs? Did you use the tool from the Ford site to clean up the tags?
  21. Thanks Larry, so it is good to know the math was right I just had the numbers in my head wrong. I was comparing against the total battery ~7.1 kW and that just did not make sense. That table was very helpful, I know that the section of my commute where I am going 55-60 is killing my range, now I can see by how much ;)
  22. I have the Titanium package so I am not familiar with the SE sound system. I just wanted to comment on Sirius and FM. FM can also have a limited band with, but it is usually much better then satellite. For Sirius, most of the stations have serious compression to allow for many channels. I agree with you, if you subscribe for music I think you are much better with creating some mp3 CDs ( I assume the SE system supports that ) or an ipod. Even a 128kbs mp3 will sound better then the compressed file on Sirius. I put a modified system in my last car, and I do not think I will do that again. If you are just looking for more bass, have you considered something like this? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_108BASSLIN/Infinity-BassLink.html?tp=114&awkw=25288855105&awat=pla&awnw=g&awcr=6488475985&awdv=c
  23. Larry, how would I read that second column? Is that the amount of energy consumed in an hour at that speed? So I could look at it this way? MPH kW 20 miles Time Hours:mins 20 2.7 2.70 1 1:00 30 4.6 3.07 0.67 0:40 40 7.1 3.55 0.50 0:30 50 10.8 4.32 0.40 0:24 60 15.3 5.10 0.33 0:20 70 22.6 6.46 0.29 0:17 If that is correct, I must be doing something wrong. The above 20 mile chart suggests that you might be able to travel 20 miles at 70 mph, where I am almost sure that the range would be no where near that... what am I doing wrong? In the chart, it takes 17 mins or .29 hours to go 20 miles consuming 6.46 kW, right?
  24. Welcome. I think you will find this is a friendly and active community.
