  1. I too was disappointed that the Lincoln was not offered as an energi. I most likely would have purchased (coming from an Acura). We do have a Lincoln dealership in Cary that is not shared with Ford. Not sure if the service experience is better there or not. Let us hope that Ford does not follow the same path now as Cadillac and come out with its version of the Cadillac ELR.
  2. One downside to such long intervals in oil changes is that it takes away from my routine on tire rotation. Remember that it is still necessary to rotate the tires 5,000 to 10,000 miles (I prefer to do it more often). I use to do this at the same time of the oil change (every 5,000). I am also not sure that I will let the oil stay in the car more than a year, even though I know that they use a synthetic blend. I can not find any time lines on how long synthetic oils should last. I have always used 6 months for traditional oils.
  3. I have significantly changed my driving habits as well to gain the most efficiency. My feelings on the subject are just as they were when I was the one who wanted to blow by, as long as you are poking along in the right lane (not the passing lane) you should not be making anyone upset. I have never taken issue with someone doing the speed limit in the right lane (although I have taken issue with some doing 20 miles under, distracted).
  4. Thanks for posting this... I was just going to come in and post this as well. I hope Ford will continue to flush out the existing Sync system as it still needs a lot of help. My fear is that they will build the new system and move on.
  5. Unfortunately no real time lines discussed here, but it is good to see some statements from the industry. http://chargedevs.com/newswire/bosch-gs-yuasa-and-mitsubishi-we-intend-to-double-li-ion-battery-capacity/
  6. Love how much, even after a year, I continue to learn on this message board. Went out and checked all my tires, most were pretty close 32-33 but one was at 30. Guess I won't put so much trust in that light going forward.
  7. I think you will find more of what you are looking for in the Fuel Mileage section, so I am going to move this thread there. For starters, look at the thread on Cold Weather Driving with energi and Real World MPG
  8. This is disappointing. My Acura showed the pressure in each tire, and was pretty accurate. I kinda miss that. 25% is quite a lot, I think they should rethink this boundary in a future software update.
  9. Variety is good! I am glad Tesla is around and making a very nice car... I was very tempted... Just can not bring myself to drop that much cash on a car (I struggled paying as much as I did for the fusion -- and I like nice cars). I can remember a lot of the same arguments when Toyota first started selling hybrid cars, good thing a few people decided to give them a try. It is pretty impressive what Nissan is doing with the Leaf. And we have many more jumping into the market. This really hit home for me, as I was very excited about the reality of plug in hybrid. My first trip was to the Chevy dealership, where the sales people were pretty good but ended up taking a ride in a car with limited battery range and the tire pressure light on the dash which gave it an odd ride. (Not exactly the way to put your best foot forward.) My trip here was better than the first trip to Ford. The Volt just didn't work for me (as much as I wanted it to work). The Ford Fusion was announced but not available yet in the energi version, but the hybrid was and so was the CMAX. My trip to the one of the larger dealerships in the area was met with a salesman that made fun of people buying all electric cars or plug ins. Did not understand why anyone would spend so much more for a few electric miles, or worse the all electric Focus which would most likely be stranded on the road somewhere with out access to a charger. This salesman was also found of making up information.... I test drove the Fusion hybrid there but I bought my car at another dealership, one where the salesman actually knew a little bit about the car he was selling. Of course I had much to share with my salesman too, as I had been a member of this board for a few months.
  10. There was an article on Green Car Reports that is relevant to this discussion. Many Car Dealers Don't Want To Sell Electric Cars: Here's Why http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1090281_many-car-dealers-dont-want-to-sell-electric-cars-heres-why?fbfanpage
  11. Wow... glad to hear that you and your son walked away from that.
  12. Congratulations on your plunge! Just would like to add my comment that once you start using adaptive cruise control you will NEVER ever order a car without it again. I have a fully loaded 2013, so I have the Active Park and have yet to use it. The front sensors are nice for the garage, but I could live with out them. The adaptive cruise is best in heavy traffic. Ordinarily you would not be able to engage your cruise due to the constant flux, now your car just slows and resumes with the flow of the traffic. And it is adjustable for how much space you want between you and the car ahead of you. I would highly recommend that you take a test drive with the adaptive cruise before getting a car with out it.
  13. Yes, the smartphone app is lacking in many ways. I think that the Volt app keeps track of all of the gas burned... would really like Ford to introduce that. This car does have a way of helping you forget when or where you last filled up.
  14. Just a thought, but would not be a real big advantage on the road to charge at 6.6 unless you were traveling back roads at lower speeds (and then you would not find a L2 charger). When ever I hit the highway I always go for the EV later button, as once you get up to speed that battery drains very quickly! Maybe by the time this car is ready for a replacement the size/weight will be significantly better to allow for more range making it worth using on the highway. Maybe then it would be upgrading the on board charger too. If the 3.3 charger was a place where they could reduce cost, I think they made a wise choice. I am far from a battery expert, but I think that charging the battery slower will also help with the life of the battery.
  15. Good to see that you have it working in that location, that would work as well.
  16. Then did you mean to say that you would not purchase the car if you had it to do over again due to the limited range?
  17. I hope you did not get that from my post. I was just simply trying to say that, for some, the additional cost and charging might not be worth it to some as the driving range increases. This would be especially true if most of that driving is highway.
  18. Thanks, that sounds like an excellent plan for something I plan to use a few days out of the year.
  19. Just out of curiosity, did you expect the electric range to be greater than it is? And if so, by how much? The reason I ask is 65 miles can be a stretch for a lot/most of pure electric vehicles under the current technology (not named Tesla). I would assume that you are still getting anywhere between 57-62 MPG (not MPGe) with your energi in what is a pretty full sized vehicle (seats 5). Is that not a pretty big reduction in trips to the gas station. Now, at 65 miles a day, it might have been better to go with the hybrid... but then your MPG would drop to 47 (ideal) and of course less in the winter time. Truth is, you are an early adopter of PHV. Range will go up and expense will go down, but it will take time.
  20. Welcome TujuMaster! You have stumbled to a great resource for your new ride. There is tons of information in this forum just a quick search away... but if you can't find it just ask! Congratulations on your new ride!
  21. So I plan to head up North again on another road trip and want to join the modern society and take advantage of the EZ Pass lanes. I went to my state site to see what I needed to do to get this started and ran across this in the FAQ: https://www.myncquickpass.com/en/about/hard_case_mounting.pdf (where to mount). It seems that the primary and alternate locations seem to be where the lane assist camera is on the windshield. My question is, has anyone else successfully tried the hard case transponder? Did you put it just below the camera? Any concerns? They make an external transponder, but I really do not want to put a tag on the front of the car if I do not have to (messes with symmetry). Thanks in advance for the help.
  22. Nice, my previous car was also a TL. What year did you have? Mine was a 2006, I did a little better on the gas mileage usually getting 21 (unless I was having a little too much fun and it dropped to 19).
  23. Looks like chancelperry blacked out his grill, you can see the pictures here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1498-installing-clear-bra-and-wrap/?p=9519
  24. 1) I know you were disappointed that you only achieved 38 mpg, but if you stop and think about the size of the vehicle, traveling on the freeways above 70mph (not exactly the wheel house for this car), and add in the time of year (colder temps) that is still pretty impressive. 2) You are correct, if you follow some of the advice on this board you will learn driving tips that will increase your mpg's even further. 3) Ready to see your pictures from your trip, try checking out this thread on how to post the pictures: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1203-how-to-use-this-site-post-photos-your-control-panel-etc/?p=6462
