  1. I have the Bosch 30A with the 18' cord. It has worked flawlessly since the day it was installed, very happy with it. I took my time getting a L2 charger, as it is not hard to live with this car and the supplied 120V charger. Having said that I am happy with my purchase, and I went with the 30A model because I know I am likely to get another electric car and this one has a cord that can reach both sides of the garage.
  2. Physical button or touch screen button, I should be able to turn the AC off with a single action. The way this is currently programmed should be considered defective... a bug.
  3. I had XM in my Acura for the 7 years I owned the car, it was a game each year at renewal time and they always blinked. I think I got 6 months or a year free to start, then I got a $79/year to renew -- found out about the deal through the enthusiast site for the TL. XM would give me the deal with the understanding that it would roll into the normal rates after the year. I would put it on my calendar to call and cancel. I would call and simply state they can renew me for the $79 or cancel. Rarely did I have to go very far with this, they would try to offer some other not as good deals... but always gave in. Honestly, for the last few years I was hoping they would say no. Sound quality for music on satellite is very low quality, so much better to just stream what you want from your phone. This car is even easier to cut the link with the blue tooth connections. I miss the college sports station a bit, but not enough to come up with subscription fee. My phone gives me just about everything at higher quality for music. About the only real content they have is their data, and as mentioned above they rarely deal on that.
  4. I would agree, that was just a line from one of the articles that read on the topic from either edmunds or cars.com (forget now). I think the study was performed by a university.
  5. I think you are correct, they have already applied that particular fix to your car. However, the dealer will probably be able to track it down. Please let us know what you find out.
  6. Is it possible that the sound is a ping or popping sound? Is your car an early production car? I had this issue too, but was solved by this TSB: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1248-collection-of-tsbs-related-to-energi/?p=7081
  7. I saw in another thread a reference to blink courtesy notice. I found that notice here: http://www.plugincars.com/sites/default/files/Blink-Notices.pdf All of these seem a little aggressive, so I spent just a few mins to throw together a couple alternatives and then thought I could lean on the collective talent here to refine them. What do you think? What should I change? My thoughts are to keep this positive and informative. My hope is that people parking here are just not thinking or unaware. (I just set up this google drive, so hopefully I did this correctly) PDF file https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6q0kkdxWo2XLWlyYy1vSWh0S28/edit?usp=sharing Powerpoint file https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6q0kkdxWo2Xdk5CWnk4YjVSMjg/edit?usp=sharing Edits: 3/9/14 Per Gigi, added Thank you to the end of each of the slips. 3/9/14 Per Eric4539: Added another page with edit as given. Thanks! (Keep them coming. Also added red numbers to help keep track - will remove from final version.)
  8. Actually, at one point Nav was considered a negative and cars with out it were actually selling higher than cars with it. The study is quite dated though (2007) and portable GPS systems were running circles around the in car systems. Today's NAV systems are cheaper and more likely to be updated than that time period. I think it is still fair to say that a NAV system in the car is way down the list of what most car shoppers would consider essential. Here is a list from CARS.COM on the topic: http://www.cars.com/go/advice/Story.jsp?section=buy&story=car-options&subject=best_resale There is no date on that page, so I am not sure how dated that information is either.
  9. Has anyone gotten one of these recently? I am wondering if this should still be pinned.
  10. I would be too worried about something happening to my charger to get the extra 20 miles/day... would not be worth it for me. One of the things I love about this car is how even when it does not have a charge in the battery, it still gets great mileage in hybrid mode. I would guess that if there is an outlet outside that is accessible and you spoke to someone at the desk explaining you would like $0.75 of electricity, they would not give you much grief.
  11. hi smokewagon... just a couple of things. the technology in this car is both new and established at the same time. Atkinson engines, eCVT transmissions, and hybrid drive has been around for some time. The technology is proven. the plug in variety and battery chemistry seems to be changing pretty rapidly right now. this is driven primarily by higher fuel cost and emission challenges... 7 years from now? my guess would be that battery chemistry changes dramatically but more importantly any car will depreciate significantly over 7 years. right now we have the advantage of tax incentives to offset some/most of the additional upfront cost of the battery -- and when you factor in fuel savings the total cost of ownership does not appear to be out of line with other vehicles in its class. also realize that even if you never run the car long enough to engage the ICE, it will fire for things like oil maint, moisture in the gas tank, extreme climate, etc. But this is as designed and healthy for the vehicle.
  12. Hotels are starting to pay attention to us. Here is a list of Marriott hotels with EV charging available. http://www.marriott.com/corporate-social-responsibility/electric-vehicle-hotels.mi Unfortunately I have not traveled to any place with availability yet. I do find it interesting that two in my area have them :clapping:
  13. Will this really turn the the AC compressor off? I am still confused how to just have fresh air in the car with out rolling the window down or opening the sun roof.
  14. Just to reiterate what jeff_h stated, speed kills mileage (just as it does in a normal gas powered vehicle). Climate control will also have an impact. HOWEVER, you have to be impressed with a car this size that gets the mileage it does even when zipping down the road and blasting the climate control. Easy tips to follow though... If you hit the highway with charge in your battery, push the EV later button to save your charge... you will go through your charge very quickly at speed. If you stop for gas or a burger, the car will go back to EV Auto... so remember to hit the EV later again as you hit the ramp for the expressway. Use your cruise control, especially if you are in the mountains as it will help you capture the energy on the decent.
  15. Hi dnorris78... check out these two threads: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1510-weathertech-or-husky-liners-discuss/?p=9370 http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/636-stuff-for-the-car/?p=3076
  16. Hi kacalapy -- I think we need to talk terminology first. MPGe stands for Miles Per Gallon equivalent. Wikipedia defines it as this. In short, you can only achieve this number in EV mode, once the engine kicks in (as it would on a 35 mile trip) your numbers will be averaged with the 43/41 MPG ratings the car may achieve in hybrid mode. The car is rated at 108 MPGe city and 92 highway MPGe in EV mode, so you would only achieve these numbers on short trips -- not longer. If you look on the left of your drivers console, the car will either show you MPG or MPGe. If you are interested in how efficiently you are driving the car then you would be interested in MPGe (which will include the efficiency while driving in electric mode). If you are only interested in how many gallons of gas you are putting in the car then set it to show you MPG, this number will always be higher as it treats the electricity as free energy (not averaged into the total). Hope this helps...
  17. Welcome to the boards FormerFF. Your description of your commute does sound perfect for this car. If you plan to take a couple trips on the weekend, or take the car out again after coming home for an hour or two then you can take advantage of a L2 charger. But, this is by no means a requirement for the vehicle. Most are perfectly happy charging over night with the supplied charger. For convenience I installed a L2 charger, and went for 30A Bosch PowerMax. It can not use the maximum capacity of the charger, but if I decide I want to go to a full electric or another electric car that can... Abuse the search on this site to find a ton of information, but if you can not find something be sure to post your questions.
  18. Dune, are you posting from a mobile device or tablet? Or is that a work machine that has crippled something? If you are on a PC you can click on the post number (in the top right of each post) and it will throw up a link with a anchor link to that post. Anyway, here is the other thread Dune mentions: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1576-oil-maintainance-mode/?p=9884
  19. Did not realize that the gap was that small, just saw that AMT took away yet another deduction. :(
  20. Thanks Larry... always look forward to your analysis. Will be interesting to see how much this changes in the Summer time.
  21. Here is another article from Green Reports that I think hits home. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1090615_heres-why-electric-cars-will-succeed-owners-just-adore-them?fbfanpage
  22. Thanks Steve! I did not know that. Very cool, I like this better as I was wondering how durable the belt driven would be verses the gears.
  23. Hi Zman11, welcome to the forum. One of the things you are going to notice, and will not seem right to you, is that the engine will run at its most efficient rate. The sound will not match a traditionally geared auto due to the transmission as there are no gears. The CVT is infinitely variable and while in electric mode you will notice a smooth and linear the acceleration, when the engine is engaged it will seem very odd not to hear the whine of the ICE match shift points, because there are no shift points. It is more efficient to work this way, and you will get use to this over time. This is discussed here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1501-the-ice-is-loud/?p=9300 under the title The ICE is loud.
  24. Did you happen to see the form letter pinned in the Batteries and Charging section? http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1428-request-for-installation-of-charging-stations-letter/?p=8897 Unfortunately, that might need to be re-written now as I think the tax credit for the chargers was not renewed.
  25. If you are concerned about privacy I am afraid that you are living in the wrong times. Right or not, more and more information is being collected and analyzed than ever before and it will lead to a road system that you will not recognize 10 to 15 years down the line (if that long). Just do a search on future of traffic intersections and you will hit on something like this.... http://www.fastcoexist.com/1679397/the-traffic-intersection-of-the-future-will-have-no-stop-lights And as Jeff mentions, if you don't want to be tracked you need to ditch the cell phone and stop driving on most public roads, and stay out of populated areas. Just look around for an hour... look for cameras, you will be amazed by how many you will find. They don't usually put wires in the roads anymore at traffic lights, as its easier for a computer to interpret a camera mounted on the post. New toll roads do not make you slow down or stop at a booth -- simply snap a picture of your tag and you and send you a bill. Speeding tickets and red light cameras catch violations. Walk into any public area and you are most likely being recorded. Every email sent is scanned and stored, even these forum posts are recorded with information that can be tracked back to the user / location / machine of origin. One thing we have going in our favor is the vast quantity information out there. Unless someone is looking for you, then you are just a needle floating in a very large haystack.
