  1. I lost interest in tracking once I made the purchase, but as of the time that I purchased the car (March 8) I had no VIN and no idea when the car would be complete. I bugged the dealer about once a week after 5 weeks.
  2. Do not remember the order number being the same as the VIN, but they are correct that until the VIN is assigned there is no car to track. So the first part is just semantics and the statement is mostly true. The build the car process is interesting.... I put my order together January 21 and it was not until mid July that the car actually showed up at the dealership -- but by that time I had long moved on as I was able to buy a similar car with out the 5 month wait. But I ordered before there were any Energi's available, and they were having production issues. Things are much better now I would think.
  3. My guess is that this would be in a lane similar to HOV today and would be metered. I would seriously doubt that you would get the electricity at cost, so there would be some type of rate that would include enough to maintain the infrastructure but not too high to prevent use. We have the technology today to meter this, the issue is that there are currently not enough electric cars to undertake this project. I could see something like this being piloted on US 5 (oops I meant to say the 5) in California, given that States commitment to alternative energy.
  4. Okay, bigger batteries would be nice but this is a very cool solution to the range problem. http://www.kurzweilai.net/dealing-with-range-anxiety-wireless-highways-to-charge-electric-cars I went looking to see if this was discussed anywhere when I saw that Volkswagen could offer wireless charging on its electric vehicles by 2017.
  5. Unfortunately I missed the one year, but still think this will be worth it. My driving habits have changed a lot recently so I am not sure how many miles to purchase. @Russael are you going with Flood because you have found them to be cheapest?
  6. I saw a topic on this and wanted to follow it up with a poll. I am leaning towards purchasing something soon even though my car has been pretty trouble free. So much technology on this car, and I think that when I do go to sell the car the warranty will have some value to the purchaser. Thanks in advance for your help. Here is a link to the original topic discussion: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1242-ford-esp-extended-service-plan/?hl=warranty
  7. I think that this has to do with the brakes actually engaging (verses the transmission slowing the car). The rotors are going to have moisture and possibly even rust on them the first time they are engaged. I am surprised by the 15 foot comment though... or does that mean that the brakes feel different in the last fifteen feet? The ABS should only kick in if there is ice, oil, or you are hydroplaning (basically one of the wheels are in free spin). Probably not something that is happening in just the last 15 feet and especially if you have been in a controlled stop until then. I have issues backing this car up as I am always expecting the car to brake similar to what it does moving forward. But I think that the car always applies the physical brakes in reverse. One nice thing about that behavior is that it is cleaning the rotors as I back out of a parking space or the garage -- reducing the possibility of this slipping when the brakes engage next time. All of this is just a guess on my part as I do not know how Ford has implemented this system... just how it seems to be working for me.
  8. One of the few cars I could ditch the active cruise for would be a Tesla... but the price has to come down. Not that I do not think that the car is worth the money (I do) it is just that I can not bring myself to drop that much money into a depreciating asset like a car. I am also out of the car buying market for the next 5-7 years as I recently purchased a very nice car :)
  9. You are right, I usually start at the top and work my way down. Sorry to hear of your issues fusionowner.
  10. Hi fusionowner, use the search from the main page for your issues... but your best bet is probably to head to the dealer to help sort it out. Especially while it is still under warranty.
  11. I have no real experience with the Sirius side of company, even though they merged they really seem to act like two different companies at times. Rates being one of those times. On the Acura forum we had a script you could read from and users confirming that the deal still worked. <rant>I have not seen anything similar for Sirius, but as I mentioned I have not looked... next to offering it to me for like $10-$20 for the year, I was not buying. The base entertainment system on this car is so good I just don't miss it. If I want to listen to music streaming I just fire up Pandora. If I want to listen to a sports show I fire up a podcast or Tunein radio. The only thing I miss is listening to MSNBC or the college sports station... but do not miss it enough to pay as much as they are asking. Now if they would have kept the XM music contract and dumped the cheaper Sirius one I might feel differently. I really miss the old Squizz station... you could listen to music for 2 or 3 days and not hear the same song... now the ratio is just like terrestrial and you could hear the same song again in an hour or two. </rant> The deal you got is not bad, but as you mentioned be sure to put it on your calendar to call in and get yourself kicked over to retention to continue the deal. The bad news is that you might hear it from Mrs jeff_h when the radio is dead the next day because it did not work on your first try. I never had them cut me on this, but have on others... and it really depends on if they think that you are going to cave. For XM there were better numbers to call for more success (search the internet) there probably are for Sirius too. If you do end up with a strategy, maybe start a thread and share.
  12. Yes, you get over the dips in lifetime... but it does make you a little sad. I still remember bringing my car into the dealer to get the mud flaps installed and my salesman could not believe the +200MPG that was on the dash... I am still getting that, but I also take this car on trips where I still get over 40mpg in a full sized car doing over 70 mph. Not bad. Will drive to Myrtle Beach (3 hours each way I think) in a few weeks, so another dip (and trips to the gas station).
  13. What is your life time MPG? I have 19 fill ups in just over a year and just got back over 70 MPG lifetime (4 long trips really killed my avg) Took me 126 days to empty the dealers tank which yielded 235 MPG. Been over a month since my last fill up and not sure when I will need to go again (just about 1/4 tank).
  14. Yes, and not all of us have the patience for it. Count me in the group that ordered and bailed. Congrats!
  15. Congratulations Checkers, sounds like you got a good deal on a great car.
  16. Would have loved to have seen FLAC on that list... can't have everything I suppose. ;) I had to convert (make a copy) my collection to AAC to get it to play.
  17. MC2, I think you will find that the number will vary unless you have a consistent drive. As Russael mentions, the range on the display is just a guess based off recent history. It will also adjust based on your current usage. I had an estimate of 43 once after a trip. Last Fall I drove home from Pittsburgh only charging the battery naturally through regeneration from the mountains. Needless to say, I did not get 43 miles range from that charge.
  18. Not sure there is a simple way, but this was discussed in the topic about why this car sounds loud, start reading here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1501-the-ice-is-loud/?p=9305 There is also a discussion here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1893-found-on-the-road-dead/?p=12366 about how the transmission is actually an eCVT which is a bit different. The link provided is for the Prius, but same concept.
  19. Hi Checkers. There are no critical updates that I am aware of for the 2013 (which I own). You can see a list of the TSBs (technical service bulletin) that we know about here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1248-collection-of-tsbs-related-to-energi/ There was an update to MFT recently (and hopefully there will be more). You can ask your dealership to update it for you, or apply the update yourself (if it was not already applied). Once you get the car, there are a couple sites that you are going to want to register your car into. MyFord Mobile: https://phev.myfordmobile.com/content/mfm/en_us/site/login.html and to keep up with your vehicles maintenance concerns, Ford Owner's Garage: http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/HomePage From your garage you will be able to check vehicle health reports.
  20. Wow! You just described my last 2 cars. Sold the BMW for the TL, and the TL for the energi. Not sure I could pick my favorite easily though, all three cars have strong positives. The Fusion drives much closer to the BMW, and the TL had the best chance at keeping up in the technical gadget arena (normalizing for age of course).
  21. This is an under rated tip. cornfieldcraig, You will find a lot of us talking about how to squeeze every bit of energy out of the battery, and trust me if you go through with the purchase you will too. Not because you have to, but because the car will continue to challenge you. One of the things I love about this car is that there is an incredible amount of information that is available to you how this car is using energy. And if you want to take it to the next level, then you need to follow larryh (he has a spreadsheet view any question you could possibly ask!). Having said that, there are times when we are just hot or cold and the system goes on! As mentioned, it might take a little longer to warm up if your engine has not been idling the entire time like a normal ICE vehicle. But it seems to work just fine once it gets going. Unfortunately I do not see the limited impact of only 3-4 miles on the range that blars is experiencing, more like a 30-40% drop in range for me. But as mentioned by Gigi above, pop the car into EV later to heat the coolant and crank that heat. Cold weather will have an impact on range (it does for normal ICE cars too), but there is a long topic on that here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1446-cold-weather-observations/ Here is another topic you might find interesting, How happy are you with your fusion energy :http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1527-how-happy-are-you-with-your-fusion-energi/
  22. I updated the PDF with the most popular version for anyone that wants to use it. PDF file https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing
  23. Welcome to the forum DVDiva! There is a great support group here that is enthusiastic about getting the most out of our cars. Use the search feature to tap into many great past discussions, but if you can not find something be sure to ask!
  24. Thank you, but not what I am looking for. Spent just a few mins reading about wish lists and the desire for perpetual motion vehicle, I would be surprised if the developers checked that site out too often. Further, I do not think I am asking for a feature. This is a poorly designed feature, what the business calls working as designed because they don't want to fix it. If the compressor is running and the AC light is out... that is a bug (in my opinion). But it is not a big deal to me, it just does not seem right. I have a work around and an alternate solution (roll down the window) that is easier to do than the work around.
  25. The biggest issue I have with lease, is that you are only planning on keeping a car during its heaviest depreciation period. From a financial standpoint, you are going to take a healthy hit on buying a new car and selling it only 3 years later (the first year is the heaviest, and it goes down from there). The first question I would ask you before answering which is better is do you plan to sell the car yourself or trade it in? For the convenience of not having to market and sell your own car, you will discount the value of your vehicle that much more (wholesale value). If you plan to do this in either case then it just comes down to can you predict the future well enough on how used the car will be when its time to turn it in. Run over, and how much penalty is built into the lease terms. Come under the estimate and the residual value may be wrong, but as mentioned above you can then buy it and sell it somewhere else... either by owner or to someplace like carmax. On your last question of condition penalties, I have no experience but I could guess that if you are a repeat customer buying again some things will be overlooked. If you just want to drop the car they might pull out the magnifying glass.
