  1. Just posting the link to the poll I did on this topic: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1964-ford-esp-extended-service-plan-the-poll/
  2. I bought mine in the 13th month and there was no cost difference between 11 months and 13 when I used the tool at website. Not sure they are still charging the $100 or if that is a region thing.
  3. I also agree that $2400 seems very high for maintenance package for this car. As mentioned above you will have reduced maintenance requirements over an ICE car. If you are considering an Extended Service Plan (ESP) you should check out this thread. http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1964-ford-esp-extended-service-plan-the-poll/ Welcome to the forum!
  4. You have to put in a system that vents from the top (hot air rises) and pulls in air from vents cut down low (cooler air). Most commonly you will see vents at the bottom of your garage door. You could even open your door and turn on the fan that exhausts the hotter air trapped at the top of your garage. I would also recommend against a solar fan, as that will only run during the day. You will get your best results at night where you live when the temperatures drop.
  5. I have too much of a lead foot to get 55mpg on a trip, I tend to get anywhere between 46 and 40. Speed absolutely affects your mileage.
  6. Moving air does not cool the air, and if the car is not charging (I would not think) it would not be heating the battery. When the car is charging, the cars own fans will kick in and move air over the battery. If you are concerned on the issues that the hot garage would do to the battery, you might think about installing some type of ventilation system in your garage. This would be especially affective at night when the temperatures drop, moving the hotter air out of your garage and replacing it with the cooler air outside. These system can also be quite pricey though.
  7. Welcome to the boards Volleyguy! There is a ton of information on this site, just a quick search away. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I also thought about the MKZ, but once I decided I wanted a plug in I ruled it out. I have not regretted that choice. I am not completely oil independent, but I also not heading to the gas station every week or week and half as I was before this car.
  8. There is considerable discussion on Ford ESP here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1242-ford-esp-extended-service-plan/?p=6943 and here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1964-ford-esp-extended-service-plan-the-poll/?p=12770 Good luck!
  9. I am with you, the suspension seems just fine to me as well.. I only mentioned it as it has been a hot topic of late. I would love it if the car drove like my TL did, but with a huge battery in the trunk I understand the trade off. I also like not having to go the gas station every 8-10 days :-)
  10. Depending on your electric rates it really is not that expensive to charge your car. I am paying roughly $0.75 to charge my car. This allows my to go about ~20 miles which in my previous car cost me a almost a gallon of premium gas (at ~$4 (I got 21 mpg on average)).
  11. I solved this with a quality custom sunscreen for the front window. It is expensive, but works so much better than the generic ones. http://204.228.150.1/products/index.phtml?prod_id=uv&cust_id=covercraft&SYSTEM=cartlink&SESSIONID=notpassed&ACTION= I posted this in my thread on stuff for the car here: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/636-stuff-for-the-car/?p=2056 There is also a long conversation on window tinting in that topic, screen protector for MFT, and the shark fin replacement for the antennae.
  12. Back on topic... I find it odd that I have one of the first cars off the assembly line and I am not affected. So they were doing it right and made a change to the process that resulted in recalls?
  13. I always make the point to ask when I drop the car off. This has worked very well for me as they write it in the work order. I have only dropped it off about 2 or 3 times where they had the opportunity to charge, but each time they did remember. They always seem to be happy to do it for me, but I have been pleased with this dealer for many reasons... I drove a little farther to get to it since the other one was a huge dealer and not so great experience. So I would confirm that Jeff's recommendation is a good idea.
  14. Probably not mentioned because this car is not exactly the type to be taken out for a joy ride. The car is very heavy with the large battery in the trunk and you can find a couple threads on this site about how soft the suspension is compared to a touring sedan. Not built for the purpose of aggressive driving. Where this car excels is in fuel economy. If you restrain your desire to push the car it will reward you with exceptional fuel economy with out sacrificing your comfort in a cramped cabin. The car has enough power to get out of its own way but you will not get the same feeling as you would in a 3 series BMW attacking an on ramp. This Ford is not agile or feel balanced in the energi trim (have not driven the other non electric assisted trims, I was looking for fuel economy). Even if it was 50/50 it is simply too heavy and under powered to matter to list that specification (in my opinion).
  15. With the AC on... me too. Still going to cash the check when they send it to me.
  16. I know exactly how you feel... nothing worse than walking into the garage and seeing the plug in the charger and NOT the car and you have to go somewhere. It is especially bad right now because I only have about 57 miles in range (according to My Ford Mobile) in hybrid mode... I know I need to put some fuel in the car but I just do not have any trips planned and do not plan to burn any gas. Love this car :yahoo:
  17. This was on Green Car Reports and talks more about the Goodwill Payment and why. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1092703_ford-cuts-gas-mileage-on-6-models-what-you-need-to-know-and-open-questions?fbfanpage
  18. This topic is posted in the Welcome section: How To Use This Site: Post Photos, Your Control Panel, etc.
  19. Is the dealer not convenient to you? This would be a warranty issue, so there would be no cost.
  20. When I logged in to check it said last updated 2 days ago, hit Update button and now says 2 mins ago. It has just been sitting in the garage, so this seems pretty normal to me.
  21. marelind -- Driving this car at different speeds, on different elevations, how cold or hot is out, how fast you accelerate, how good you are at recapturing energy by regenerative braking, how many red lights you hit, and on and on and on will have an impact on how many miles you will squeeze out of the battery. When you start up the car in the morning, it is basically guessing how far you are going to make it based on the most recent experience the car had. If you just drove the car on the freeway at 65 mph with the AC on the number will be lower than if you were scooting around town on a lovely 70 degree day with the windows down cruising at 35 mph. In the end, its just a guess and it will adjust to your current drive as it gets more information. I have turned mine on to only see 17 miles estimated range, I have also seen 43. But its just the same amount of energy available... but the people who designed the system thought it would be better to put the projected range rather than an absolute of how many KWhs are available. I personally find it useful, but I also understand that its just a guess. Hope this helps.
  22. It happens to me from time to time... usually when I am in a hurry :)
  23. I have experienced this behavior before as well and wished it acted differently. You think you pushed the brake before the start button, but evidently not soon enough. I understand why you need to be able to move it to N in ACC mode, but I have made this mistake before as well. One of the downsides to keyless start I guess (have not driven any other keyless systems so do not know if there is a better way.)
  24. This was a bit of a concern for me as well... this is my first American company car. In addition to Ford really cleaning up its act in the quality department, I also liked the strong styling and and the amount of technology in this car. I did, however, buy an extended warranty to hedge my bets on anything breaking. You can get a 7 year / 100K plan with $100 deductible for a little over $1200. http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1964-ford-esp-extended-service-plan-the-poll/
