Is this the Correct Energy Management for my Commute
meyersnole replied to Lightfoot's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I am fairly certain (but would not bet on it) that it does not matter what mode you are in on energy regeneration. In my experience I can stay in Auto mode and in a sustained downhill will end up with miles back on the display. The ICE will not run during this period either. I then save that regenerated energy for when I am in town on secondary roads. If you change to EV Now then you will use that regenerated energy right away. So, it's just when you want to use it by selecting the mode... You will retain the energy either way. -
I just did this on my current trip. A good part of the trip was on the State and Federal highway system (non interstate) and part of it on the Appalachian Parkway. I got about 49 mpg and really enjoyed the scenery. Lots of stops and go on the parkway actually hurt my mileage, but it was worth it!

iPhone 6 ios 8 does not support messaging
meyersnole replied to SteveEnergi's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
SteveEnergi, on 26 Sept 2014 - 08:09 AM, said: This is the way this has always worked for me... iPhone 5 on sprint for both iOS6 and 7... assuming my iPhone 6 with iOS 8 will be the same. Do not pay attention to it anymore... -
If you have the same issue as mine, they blamed it on being cut too short. The service guy took some pictures of it and sent it to Ford and they approved the replacement. Honestly, they should just put some trim on it to fix it... seems excessive to replace... what ever. Unfortunately the replacement part they sent was defective, so back to Ford for another part.

That is a good question. The only reference I see to Valet Mode is to lock down My Ford Touch (so that your private information is protected) until you enter the code again. Not sure if it also disables the trunk, I do not see any reference. Searching the 2013 version of the manual I just find this on page 359: Enable Valet Mode Valet mode allows you to lock the system so that none of your information on the system can be accessed until it is unlocked with the correct PIN.

Thank you for looking at this, but when I found that option it was already unchecked. Do not think that updating metadata in over 5,000 files is an option, but I will try and clean it up the best I can. Thank you for the tips.

Oh... one more thing, are you looking under Browse to find the play lists?
-
Hi Musicmafia... do not use playlists, but did a little searching and found the following: 1) there is a free utility that has been referenced a few times (not tried it, not vouching for it) quoted from a Ford Flex forum: "You can use SyncPlaylist it is a free utility by Openview Design http://www.openviewdesign.com It also works in cars without Sync by creating an ordered playlist. It worked great for my Ford Focus. Easy to use." and 2) Instructions from another Ford IVT member (have not tried this either) 1. Make sure the music is listed on the flash drive. 2. Transfer the music from the flash drive to Windows Media player in the Media Library tab. 3. Click on Playlists, and then Create New Playlist 4. Go back to the Media Library and Sort the music by the file name to show the file path starting with the Flash Drive Location (E.g…E:\Music\MyMusic\...) 5. Select the songs that you would like to add to the playlist and drag and drop them, or right click them and send them to the correct playlist. 6. Once the playlist is complete, click on File and then Save Playlist As. 7. Click on My Computer, and then select the drive associated with the flash drive. 8. Change the Save As Type to Any Playlist 9. Name the file and click on Save. Hope this helps! Jaclyn _________________ FORD IN-VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY TEAM

Hello Kim, I did download the latest tool and when installing the tool the install informed me that the same version was already installed on my system. I proceeded with the install anyway. I also checked the SYNC Forum and noticed a thread from a year ago that outlined my issue: Actually the original thread was started in 2012, the tool is Copyright 2009. http://fordsyncforum.com/topic/2661-sync-my-itunes/?p=13503

Well it looks like Ford has abandoned development of Sync my iTunes. When you try and run it you get "iTunes is busy. Please close SYNC My iTunes and try again later" I tried a reboot and ensured that iTunes was using 0% of my processor and still no joy. I also tried to run SYNC My iTunes with Administrator privilages, then it claims that iTunes is not downloaded and offers to do it for you. I went to the SYNC forum and found that these issues have been known for a year now. Very disappointing... I just rebuilt my iTunes library (I keep my music in Media Monkey) for me new phone. Would be nice if Ford made a real investment in their IT department or hire a competent vendor company -- start with the ones who did the dashboard, that code seems to work.

Recall anyone? Possible sub-standard welds on seatbelts.
meyersnole replied to mergy's topic in Lounge - Fusion Energi
I just ran the health report and went to the support site: http://support.ford.com/ to read it and found 2 recalls listed. Notice #: 14E02POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING Notice #: 14S21RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT -
When that service first started, I thought they really had a good idea and market. With the proliferation of smart phones and car systems that integrate with them like MFT I am not so sure there is that much value anymore. @ $5/month I can see some value for not wanting to mess with the phone.... but not the market I first thought it had. I also really liked the content that XM originally had, but that was removed shortly after the merger.

jeff_h that brings back many memories... I played the same games. Too bad you are playing them at the 6 month terms, I use to only have to do this once a year. Honestly I think you did pretty good on the price, better than I was getting anyway. At the end of the day, are you happy? At $5 month, how much better could you really do?

It is the same size. If you are primarily trying to cut down on glare then go for the DayVue version.
-
Yes, that is what I used. I considerably cut the indexing time down after I used it. It also allowed me to have a much larger library of songs.

Almost 17,000! I have to say, as my first Ford I am overall very happy -- and impressed. My last 2 vehicles were an Acura TL (3rd gen) and BMW 528i and this car competes just fine, maybe not the performance but overall feel. Also thank you for the offer of help, but I have also been very pleased with my dealership. I was not impressed with the largest dealer in the area, but I ended up at University Ford of Durham and from sales to service I would not hesitate to recommend this dealership.

Thanks for the update. I am actually scheduled to go in next week for a headliner replacement. I will warn them of this possible issue.

iPhone 6 ios 8 does not support messaging
meyersnole replied to SteveEnergi's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
Just updated to iPhone 6 and so far it seems to work better than my iPhone 5 for messages. Could never figure out why it worked some times and not others, only had this phone for a few days though. -
I use a 16G thumb drive that I just leave plugged into the car. This works very well. In the past I have had issues with my iPhone connected through USB... works for a while then just stops. I usually switch it over to bluetooth which I do not think I have ever had issues with. Probably would have worked to unplug and plug again... but this other route worked so I never really troubleshot that any further. Another tip... ensure that your tags are complete and consistent. This speeds the index and generally performs better. I think I found a tool on the Ford site to check the tags. If you can not find it just post and I will dig for the name. Good Luck!

Driving in the right lane and above the posted minimum speed limit, you are generally not creating issues. My only concern would be anything 20 miles below the posted speed limit. Speed differentials of 30 or more mph can be quite dangerous, especially with as much attention as some drivers are devoting to the task. Just stay safe. Since getting this car I have slowed way down, as I can see the affect with all the metrics the car gives me. My speeds are situational. If I am the only one on the road and do not really have to be anywhere (I leave early to create this) then I am driving below the speed limit. In heavy traffic I tend to drive the speed limit as to not aggravate the drivers around me, unless I can drive slower with out clogging traffic.

Great news 47 Mins! For the screen protector, did you order this one? http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/617-screen-protector-for-mft/?p=1885 Not positive, but I think you lost the ability to do MPGe on the 2014 model.

Charge level dropping throughout the day
meyersnole replied to blars's topic in Batteries & Charging
I have always noticed that the battery will drop when sitting for long periods of time. I think the fans run to keep the battery temperature and I assume the cars communication might run down the 12V battery, maybe it also gets charged from the big battery?
