  1. I bought a 30 amp Siemens charger in September 2013. It has worked perfectly until today when I got a "fault" light. I didn't know where to start so I called Siemens 800-743-6367. A got a very responsive customer service person who told me to do a "hard" set by unplugging it for 1.5 hours. She started a service request and a tech called me within 1/2 hour. He said there is also a soft set by pressing the start button twice, but that since we were already into the hard reset, let that finish and he would call me and check the result. He called right on time, we plugged it back in and it works great. He gave me his personal number in case the problem comes back. GREAT SERVICE!. ChuckJ
  2. Good to know, but I was talking about the 2016 Energi. ChuckJ
  3. Does anyone have any information on the changes included in the mid-life upgrade? ChuckJ
  4. I did buy the oil change package, it was not very expensive and they work on it every 7500 miles. ChuckJ
  5. Kim: Since you're on the thread, my left display has beeped and flashed something a couple of times but whatever the issue goes away in milliseconds and you can't see anything but a part of a dialogue box disappearing. Have you had any experience with that issue. Chuck
  6. Jeff: Two questions: 1. if it is non-refundable and the taxpayer doesn't have that much tax required, can the balance it be carried over to the next year? 2. If you lease the car, are you qualified for the tax incentive? ChuckJ
  7. Larry: I recognize the inefficiency and think that should be included. Tseibel76: Where can we get a 50 amp, 220 volt Kill-a-watt for our 220v chargers? Kim: Can you address whether it's possible to include the efficiency of specific chargers to include in this option? ChuckJ
  8. Kim: One thing that I believe is misleading in the Energi is the MPGe. For engineers, it's technically correct but for users it provides misleading, understated results. What's important to many of us, and what caused us to buy the Energi is saving money on gas. And many people think hybrids and electric cars can't pay for themselves in a reasonable period of time. Right now my MPGe says that I have 58.5 MPGe for the 5000 miles I've owned the car but really it's much better than that from a cost standpoint. We all pay different rates for the electricity. For us, we pay $.09 per kwh. If it takes 7 kwh to fill up the battery and get 21 miles it cost about $.75 for the 21 miles. If I get 42 mpg for a gallon of gas it cost me $1.6 for the 21 miles or more than double. I propose, therefore to have a mod to the software to allow users to use MPGc (miles per gallon based on a cost basis) where you enter the average cost of gas in your area and the average cost of electricity and the car gives you MPGc if you choose to use this criteria. This would give people a more accurate comparison of gas cost to electricity cost of driving. ChuckJ
  9. I bought a 600 amp quick start jumper from West Marine for $65 for exactly this reason. ChuckJ
  10. I got this one and love it. Low cost and free shipping on Prime ChuckJ http://www.amazon.com/Siemens-VC30BLKB-VersiCharge-Electric-Vehicle/dp/B0083ZZFEA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388886155&sr=8-1&keywords=Siemens+Versicharge+30+Amp+Nema-4+Indoor%2FOutdoor+Electric+Vehicle+Charger+-+Rear+Fed
  11. We've had our Titanium since August and have had zero problems with reliability! ChuckJ
  12. I would also like to welcome you Ashley. I was just thinking about asking if anyone on the forum was from the Ford Technical community. One thing we would all probably be interested is future improvements for the Energi. Trunk space, EV range, ICE growl, new electronic goodies, pointing / LED headlights, etc. for the 2016 and future / mid life upgrade come to mind. ChuckJ
  13. Did you have auto high beam dimming and if so, does it work as well or better than the original? ChuckJ
  14. Yep, we get spoiled with that quiet, smooth environment, though I haven't heard it yet at highway speeds and we've taken several trips. I think when you have any hybrid battery left it doesn't growl, but I'm not sure. ChuckJ

I would take it to the dealer. I'm thinking you will find them responsive. If not, there are lots of surveys that you will probably receive that you can help them understand the problem with. ChuckJ
  16. Nice!! To me, you've got it right. What matters is cost deltas. MPGe and MPG are both misleading. For those people living in areas that charge $.30-.50/Kwh the Energi may not be the car for them from a cost standpoint. Of course, part of the reason I enjoy the Energi is the lack of vibration and quietness. Chuck
  17. Do you drive with the grade assist on all the time or did you just turn it on for the hill? ChuckJ
  18. Happiness overall on a sale of 1 to 10? Your Previous Daily Driver (Car)? Would you do it again? 1. For our family, a 10 because there are only 2 of us, but if you have a family you will have a hard time fitting everything in the trunk. The back seats fold down and there is a small pass-through so you can carry a couple of 2x4s. If you are mostly using it for town driving, a 220 charger will give you incredible freedom and flexibility with a complete charge in less than 2 hours. They run about $750-1200. I love the Siemens I got on Amazon for $750. You'll get from 41 to 44 on the highway depending on your speed. Around town mileage is unbelievable if you have good electric rates. It takes about 5Kwh for a complete charge (~20 miles). Our electricity is .08 / Kwh so with an 80% efficient charger it's less than $.50 for 20 miles. Even in a 40 MPG Fusion Hybrid and $3.50/gal it's $1.75 for the same 20 mile trip or 1/3rd the cost of gas. But if you live in an area with $.30 / Kwh the benefit is eliminated. It is quiet and smooth! Acceleration is much better than the Prius, but not like a six cylinder BMW with 60 in about 8.5 seconds. It doesn't mind heat too much, but cold will reduce mileage. There some detail in other posts that you can search for. The ride is good, but the batteries make the rear ride a little heavy that is noticeable over bumps. 2. 2011 Fusion Hybrid 3. Yes ChuckJ
  19. You will likely get between 41 and 44 on the highway under light wind conditions. The key to maximizing this technique is to know where to move back to EV. The navigation system will help you a little in that regard with EV circles showing how far you can travel, but after a while, you'll get used to how far you can go when the battery says 2, 3 or 4 miles. It is normally about 1 or 1 1/2 miles further because the hybrid portion of the battery doesn't show a number, the bar just moves down. BTW, the car will go into ICE automatically as you run the battery to 0 even if you set it on EV now. ChuckJ
  20. It is a problem. When I'm in the housing area they dim any time there is any type of reflection (like a stop sign). I asked my salesman about it and he says the lane camera is the sensor and there is no sensitivity adjustment. I hope he's wrong and someone will tell us how to adjust the sensitivity. ChuckJ
  21. You are absolutely right Kalistis, it is loud. It's not on the highway at speed and it's not when it's using both ICE and EV (or just EV), so the way I get around the issue is to minimize the time I'm in ICE only at low speeds. If my trip is going to be more than the battery capacity I currently have while I'm on the highway, I switch to EV later and save the EV miles I'll need after I get off the highway to the house. Then when I get off the highway I put it in EV and silently glide home. BTW, I highly recommend a 220 charger if you are going to make several short trips during the day. My Siemens charges the car up in less than 2 hours so most of the time the battery is full when I leave the house. ChuckJ
  22. There are 3 levels of intensity that you can set for lane holding also. You just use the setup to configure them. ChuckJ
  23. I had the same problem. I added Rain-x windshield washer solution which comes in a one gallon jar to the windshield washer tank and it solved the problem. ChuckJ
