Recall issued: 2019-2020 Fusion Energi - BECM Fire Risk
j8048188 replied to EnduroDad2k's topic in Batteries & Charging
Just got a letter today about compensation: "To help make things right, we'd like to offer you $250.00 to help with additional fuel costs while you are not charging the vehicle." The letter has a website to visit to claim the compensation. The $250 is eligible to be claimed on or before November 30th, 2023. -
Looks like Ford will resume installs starting the week of June 27th. They've made some updates to the TSB, I've attached a newer one. TSB_22-2230.pdf

Sadly, that's pretty close to just the price of the part. I'm waiting for Ford to give the green light to start doing installs again so I can have my car done.

Rumor has it that Ford is sending out refurb 4G modems from other vehicles. (Ford Escape, if I remember correctly). The upgrade kit a dealer orders comes with a very hefty core charge (About $500) so they really want the old ones back. You need the kit to do the retrofit- The 3G and 4G antennas are different. Otherwise, look for a 4G antenna from an Escape.

The charge port is considered part of the hybrid powertrain and has the 100k mile warranty on it.

Installed some splash guards today.
j8048188 replied to jeffdeq's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Installing the factory-molded splashguards is the first accessory I install on any car I own. -
If you are the original owner of the vehicle, it should still qualify. The trial period determination is from the original in-service date.

So here's the deal: Ford will replace US 3G modems for any vehicle that needs it. However, there's two catches: 1. You will have to pay for the 4g modem. (Dealer price is ~$238.84) 2. Only people still under the free trial get it installed for free. If not under the free trial, you have to also pay for labor. (Labor time is given as 0.7 hours) 2014-2018: 5 year free trial 2019: 2 year trial 2020: 1 year trial Details sent to dealers is in the R21b09 attachment. If still under the free trial, you should have gotten an owner letter, also attached. r21B09softpost.pdf r21B09FordOwnerLetter.pdf

I've jumped a 4-cyl engine from my Energi in the past. Hooked it up, waited a few minutes, and the Rogue cranked over as expected.
-
My 2020 refuses to shut off the charge port light as well, when I select "off".
-
You can also check the Power Flow app on your Sync touchscreen. If the engine is on, it'll say the reason.

My car has charged very happily at several 208V stations.

I charge my car a max of 1 time each day/night to avoid excess heat and strain, and I prefer to not keep the car fully charged and sitting for days plugged in. When I park at night I look at my state of charge and plans for the next day. If I'll be driving a lot, I'll plug in. If I have no plans to leave the house, I'll leave it unplugged, and plug it in the night before I leave the house again. Keeping a battery charged at a full 100% will degrade it faster than if it is stored at a lower charge. Once I started limiting charge on my cell phone to a max of 80%, I found the battery keeps it's full capacity for a much longer time (I've had my current phone for a year now and the actual capacity is still 98% of the design capacity. My previous phone, after 2.5 years, still had 85% of it's design capacity. The last phone I used before starting the battery charge limit had about 50% of it's capacity after 2.5 years.)

Fordpass still shows me fuel level, odometer, and oil life on my 2020 Energi. It seems to only transfer that data over bluetooth to the phone that I have paired.

2017 Fusion Energi Lithium 12 volt battery?
j8048188 replied to stevon's topic in 2017-2018 Fusion Energi
The car charges the 12V battery to about 15 volts, so make sure this battery can handle that much voltage. -
Active Noise Cancellation making extreme noise
j8048188 replied to j8048188's topic in Audio, Navigation & SYNC
Only fixes I've found are either varying the engine RPMs by pressing harder or releasing the accelerator pedal ( or cancelling cruise control) or pushing the L button on the shift knob. I've noticed it usually happens only when I have a passenger or a full load of cargo in the car. -
So far, I'm enjoying my 2020 FFE, with one caveat: My commute to work involves a steep mountain climb at a posted speed limit of 75MPH (Usually I climb between 65 and 75mph... 6.4% grade, almost 700 ft climb in 2 miles) As the climb starts, I can hear the motor's frequency become fixed. As the climb continues, the noise gets louder and louder, until it's uncomfortable. My theory is that the ANC is sampling incorrectly and creating a really bad feedback loop. If I crack a window open when the noise gets loud, the extra noise introduced into the cabin makes the super loud resonant feedback go away. Anyone else experience this? My next test would be to pull the ANC fuse before the drive and see if the noise goes away.

Help Me Turn Lane-Keeping OFF
j8048188 replied to Merlin309's topic in Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies
I'm in the opposite boat of Merlin: I'd like to have it automatically turn ON when starting the car. In previous years models (Fusion Hybrid Rentals) the lane assist would remember it's state between startups. On my 2020 FFE, it always defaults to off. Does Forscan or something similar let me change the default state? -
My 2020 Titanium Plug-in Hybrid fusion does not have the convenience outlet in the rear/center console. Steering adjust is manual. No insulation under the hood. No front park sensors or Park Assist.

2020 Ford Escape PHEV, 14.4 kWh/30+ EV miles, FWD only
j8048188 replied to jj2me's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
The 2020 Fusion is sometimes referred to as the Energi, other times as the Plug in Hybrid. The inconsistency on Ford's own website and literature is a bit disconcerting. -
I see that the 2019 and 2020 FFE's have a bigger battery. Did they put a bigger charger onboard as well, or is the rate still 3.3kw?

I tried to work with Fred Beans but didn't have any luck. They're selling the cars as (Used) dealer loaners, so you don't get the $4600 tax credit; the price ends up being the same out-of-pocket as if you just buy a brand new Energi elsewhere. I would have liked to order one, but a few fleet managers told me that Ford was no longer taking any more orders for Fusions. My car (from a different dealer) should be here this Friday.
